Xiaomi Mi Robot has gained popularity thanks to a combination of affordable prices and advanced features: laser navigation, wet cleaning and integration with the Mi Home ecosystem. However, many users face the problem: the default device often comes with a Chinese or English interface, and the menu is not available in Russian, which makes it difficult to adjust the schedule, cleaning areas or update the firmware.
In this article, you will find the most relevant ways to change the language to Russian for all modern Xiaomi Mi Robot models (including Mi Robot Vacuum-Mop 2 Pro, Mi Robot Vacuum-Mop P, Mi Robot Vacuum-Mop 2 Lite, etc.). We will look at options through the Mi Home application, alternative methods for older firmware versions, as well as solutions to errors such as the absence of Russian in the list of languages or resetting after an update.
Important: the procedure varies depending on the region of purchase of the vacuum cleaner (China, Europe, Russia) and the firmware version. If your model is purchased on AliExpress or in Chinese stores, you will probably have to use workarounds, which we will describe.
1. Check the current version of the firmware and the vacuum cleaner region
Before you change the language, make sure your Xiaomi Mi Robot supports Russian.
- Open the Mi Home app and go to your vacuum cleaner page.
If the Region section is CN, Russian is likely not in the standard settings, and this will require a change in the firmware region (see section 4). European (EU) and Russian (RU) versions usually support Russian out of the box.
Note: Some models (e.g. Mi Robot Vacuum-Mop 2 Pro) may not show the region explicitly, in which case you should focus on the firmware version β if it starts with mirobo.vacmop, it is an international version with Russian support.
2. Change the language through the Mi Home app (standard method)
If your vacuum cleaner has European or Russian firmware, Russian is included in 3 simple steps:
3. Alternative ways to change the language (for Chinese firmware)
If your Xiaomi Mi Robot is purchased in China or has CN firmware, the standard method won't work.
Method 1: Change region through Mi Home (without root)
This method is suitable for most models, except the newest (2023-2026).
- In Mi Home, go to vacuum cleaner settings β General settings β Region.
- Choose Russia (Russia) or Europe (Europe).
- Confirm the change β the vacuum cleaner will reboot and download the firmware for the selected region.
- After the update, the Russian language will appear in the settings.
Time of procedure: 10β30 minutes (depending on the speed of the Internet).
Method 2: Use the Mijia app (for Chinese models)
The Mijia app (not to be confused with Mi Home) often contains advanced settings for Chinese devices.
- π± App Store (China) (China Apple will be required) ID).
- π€ APKPure (for Android).
After installation:
- Add a vacuum cleaner to Mijia (you may have to reset it before the factory settings).
- Go to (Settings) β (Language).
- Pick (Russian).
What if Mijia can't see the vacuum cleaner?
Method 3: Manual firmware update (for power users)
If previous methods have not worked, you can manually sew the vacuum cleaner with international firmware.
Instructions:
- Download the firmware for your model with XDA Developers or 4PDA.
- Connect the vacuum cleaner to the computer USB (need OTG-cable).
- Use the MiRoBo Tool or Adb for firmware.
The command to check the current firmware through adb:
adb shell getprop ro.build.version.incrementalπ‘
Before you firmware, back up your vacuum cleaner settings! To do this, export your cleaning map to Mi Home and save screenshots of the schedule.
Table of compatibility of models and methods of language change
Not all Xiaomi Mi Robot models support Russian in the same way, here is the current compatibility table (data for 2026):
| Model vacuum cleaner | Support for Russian out of the box | Required method of language change | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mi Robot Vacuum-Mop 2 Pro | β Yes (EU/RU) | Standard (via Mi Home) | China's version (CN) calls for region change |
| Mi Robot Vacuum-Mop P | β Yes (EU/RU) | Standard. | Voice prompts in Russian with firmware 3.5.8+ |
| Mi Robot Vacuum-Mop 2 Lite | β οΈ Partially. | Changing the region or Mijia | Russian may not be on the menu, but voice commands are working. |
| Mi Robot Vacuum-Mop G1 | β Yes. | Standard. | Supports Russian from the first firmware |
| Mi Robot Vacuum-Mop 1C | β No. | Hand-held firmware | Requires firmware from Viomi (compatible) |
Important: models with the prefix STYJ or STYT in the room (for example, STYJ02YM) often do not support Russian in Chinese firmware, for them the only option is to change the region to EU.
5. Frequent errors and their solutions
When you change language, you have a common problem, and let's look at the most common ones.
Mistake 1: Russian is on the list but not used
If, after choosing Russian, the vacuum cleaner continues to speak English or Chinese:
- π Restart the vacuum cleaner (press the power button for 5 seconds).
- π± Remove the device from Mi Home and add again.
- π§ Check that the system language is also Russian in the settings of the phone.
Error 2: After updating the firmware, the tongue reset
This happens if the CN firmware overwrites the settings.
- Reverse to the previous version of the firmware (if there is a backup).
- Use Mijia to force you to change your language.
- Turn off automatic updates in Mi Home.
Mistake 3: Mi Home app doesn't see vacuum cleaner after region change
If, after changing the region to EU or RU, the device disappears from the list:
- π Move the phone closer to the vacuum cleaner (within a radius of 2 meters).
- π Restart your router β sometimes changing helps IP-address.
- π Connect to the vacuum cleaner access point (mirobot-XXXX) and add it again.

If the vacuum cleaner stopped responding after changing the firmware, try resetting it to factory settings: press the Home and Nutrition buttons for 15 seconds.
6. Additional settings after language change
After a successful change of language to Russian, it is recommended to configure:
- πΊοΈ Cleaning Map: Update the room map in Mi Home, as it can reset when changing the firmware.
- β° Cleaning schedule: Make sure the time and days of the week are correctly (sometimes reset).
- π Voice prompts: in the settings you can turn off or change the volume of alerts.
- π« No-go zones: Reconfigure virtual walls and zones if they are gone.
Also useful:
- π² Update Mi Home to the latest version β new versions fix bugs with display of Russian text.
- π Connect the vacuum cleaner to Google Assistant or Alice β now you can give commands in Russian.
Team example for Alice:
"Alice, turn on the cleaning in the living room" (if the zones are named in Russian).
Comparison of methods of language change: what to choose?
Which one is right for you? Let's compare them by key parameters.
| Method | Difficulty | Time. | Risks. | Suitable for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard (via Mi Home) | β (simple) | 2-5 minutes | No. | EU/RU firmware |
| Change of region to Mi Home | ββ (middle-of-the-road) | 10β30 min | Resetting settings | Chinese firmware (CN) |
| Application Mijia | βββ (difficult) | 15-40 minutes | Loss of communication with Mi Home | Old Chinese models |
| Hand-held firmware | ββββ (difficult) | 30β60 minutes | Loss of warranty, brick | Experienced users |
