Broadcasting your smartphone screen on Xiaomi TV opens up new possibilities for watching movies, games and presentations on the big screen. However, not all users know how to properly configure this connection without loss of quality or delay. We tested each method on current models from 2023 to 2026 and highlighted their pros and cons in a comparative table.
Important: if your TV is released before 2019, some features (such as AirPlay) may not be available, in which case you will need to update the firmware or use alternative methods. MIUI TV 3.0 and later.
1. Wireless streaming on Miracast (for Android)
Miracast is the universal standard for transmitting images from Android devices to wireless TVs. All modern Xiaomi TVs (starting with 2018 Mi TV 4A) support it out of the box. The main advantage is that there is no dependence on the router: the connection is installed directly between the phone and the TV.
To begin the broadcast:
- On TV: open Settings → Connect and Sharing → Wireless projection (Miracast).

The average latency on this connection is 60-120 ms, which is enough for watching videos, but can be noticeable in dynamic games.

2. Stream from iPhone to AirPlay (for iOS)
Owners of iPhones or iPads can stream the screen on Xiaomi TV via AirPlay, a technology available on all Xiaomi TVs released after 2020 (with MIUI TV 2.0+ firmware), the main difference from Miracast is more stable performance with high-resolution video (up to 4K HDR) and support for Dolby Atmos sound.
Instructions for connection:
- On TV: Activate AirPlay in Settings → Apple AirPlay and HomeKit → Enable AirPlay.
- On iPhone: Swipe down to call Control Point → press Screen Duplicate → select your Xiaomi TV.
- When you first connect, enter a 4-digit code that will appear on the TV screen.
Features of AirPlay on Xiaomi TV:
- 🎬 Supports screen-only broadcasting (not individual apps like Apple’s) TV).
- 🔊 The sound is transmitted automatically – no separate setting is required.

3. Wired connection via HDMI (minimum latency)
If you want maximum stability without delay (for example, for streaming games or working with graphics editors), the best option is a wired connection via HDMI.

- 🔌 Cable HDMI 2.0 or newer (for support) 4K@60Hz).
- ⚡ Power supply for the phone (with long broadcasting).
Step-by-step:
- Connect the adapter to your phone and the HDMI cable to your adapter and TV (HDMI 1/ARC port is preferred).
- On the TV, select the appropriate signal source (HDMI 1, HDMI 2, etc.).
- The phone may need to be on mode. USB-debugging (in Settings) → For developers) or confirm a trusted device.
Advantages of HDMI:

5. Broadcasting via router (DLNA and Google Cast)
If your Xiaomi TV and phone are connected to the same router, you can use DLNA or Google Cast protocols to transfer media files and screen.

- 📺 Broadcasting of browser tabs (Chrome) → Cast).
Setting up Google Cast:
- On TV: Turn on Google Cast in Settings → Network Services → Turn on Cast.

For DLNA:

Google Cast supports only individual apps (like YouTube or Netflix) but not the entire screen of your phone. Use Miracast or HDMI to stream the screen.
