Forgot your home Wi-Fi password, but your Xiaomi smartphone is successfully connected to the network? The situation is familiar to many: the router was set up by someone else, the password is written on a piece of paper that was long lost, and now you need to connect a new gadget. Fortunately, on Redmi, POCO or Mi phones, there are several ways to extract the saved password - and most of them do not require superuser rights (root).
In this article, we will discuss 5 working methods, including built-in MIUI features, third-party apps, and even workarounds through router settings. Importantly, some methods depend on the firmware version (MIUI 12/13/14) and the phone model. For example, on Xiaomi 11T Pro with Android 13, password access may differ from the Redmi Note 10 on Android 11. We took these nuances into account and prepared universal solutions.
We warn you right away that if the phone is not connected to the target Wi-Fi network, none of these methods will work, and some methods may require additional actions, such as scanning. QR-I'm talking about code or a temporary connection to a router via cable.
1. Method: Viewing password through MIUI settings (without root)
The easiest method is to use the built-in MIUI feature to display a password. It works on most modern Xiaomi devices (starting with MIUI 12), but can be hidden on some models for markets outside China.
Instructions:
- π± Open the Settings. β Wi-Fi.
- π Find the network you are connected to in the list and tap it by its name.
- ποΈ In the window that opens, click on the Show Password icon (or Share) β QR-code on some firmware).
- π The system can request PIN-code, pattern lock or fingerprint to confirm.
If you only see a password instead of a password QR-code, it can be scanned by another device (for example, through the Google Lens app) to extract a text password, MIUI Global) Share option may not be available β in this case, proceed to the next method.

If the Show Password button is inactive, try temporarily disabling Two-Factor Authentication in the MIUI security settings. Sometimes this will unlock access to saved passwords.
Method: Use of QR-wi-fi code
Modern versions MIUI Allows you to share your Wi-Fi network through QR-code that contains the name of the network (SSID) And the password is encrypted, and this method works even if the direct password viewing option is blocked.
How to Remove Passwords from QR-code:
- Go to Settings β Wi-Fi and tap on the connected network.
- Choose Share (Share) β QR-code.
- Take a screenshot. QR-Take a photo of it or take a photo of it with another device.
- Use any one. QR-Reader (e.g. Google Lens, Barcode Scanner) or online service like zxing.org to decrypt the code.
As a result, you will get the text of the form:
WIFI:S:MyWiFiName;T:WPA;P:MyPassword123;;Where P:MyPassword123 is your password, this method works on 100% of Xiaomi devices with MIUI 12 and later, but requires additional steps to decode.
What to do if QR-code not scanned?
3. Method: View through the configuration file (requires PC)
This method is suitable for users who are willing to connect the phone to a computer.Wi-Fi passwords on Android are stored in a file. wpa_supplicant.conf, But access to it is limited. But Xiaomi with bootloader unlocked or debugging. USB can be removed.
Step-by-step:
- π₯οΈ Connect your phone to your PC through USB Turn on Developer Mode (7 times tap on Version) MIUI In Settings β The phone).
- π§ Turn on Debugging. USB In Settings β Additionally. β For developers.
- π Use it. ADB (Android Debug Bridge for copying a file: adb pull /data/misc/wifi/WifiConfigStore.xml Or (for older versions of Android): Adb pull /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf
- π Open the downloaded file in any text editor and find a line with psk="password".

Attention, new versions. MIUI (13+) file wpa_supplicant.conf This will require root access or use of specialized utilities such as WiFi Password Viewer (available in Magisk Module).
4. Method: Connecting to the router via a web interface
If you have access to the router itself (physically or through another connected device), you can find out the password through its web interface, which is universal and works independently of the phone model.
How to do this:
- Find out. IP-Router address: On Xiaomi: Settings β Wi-Fi β Current network β Additional (Glue field) Typical addresses: 192.168.0.1, 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.8.1 (for Xiaomi Mi Router routers).
Enter the IP in the browser address bar on any device connected to this network.

5. Method: Applications for viewing passwords (with or without root)
If the built-in methods don't work, you can use third-party applications, and it's important that most of these tools require root rights, but there are exceptions.
Top.-3 apps:
- π WiFi Password Viewer (requires root) - shows all saved passwords as a list, available in Magisk Module or on the Internet 4PDA.
- π± WiFi Key Recovery (without root, but not on all firmware) β attempts to extract passwords from system files.
- π ES Conductor (obsolete method) - previously allowed to view wpa_supplicant.conf without root, but on newer versions MIUI lock-in.
Attention! apps without root often fail on MIUI 13/14 due to enhanced data protection. If you are not ready to get root access, use methods 1-4.

Frequent problems and solutions
Not all methods work equally well across devices, but here are the most common challenges and ways to get around them:
- π« No βShow Passwordβ button: Reason: Firmware MIUI Global or EEA Solution: Use the method of using QR-code or connect to the router.
- π QR-code not scanned: Reason: low screen resolution or corrupted code Solution: try another scanner (e.g., a different scanner, QR Code Reader by Scan).
- π ADB - does not see the file with passwords: Reason: no access rights. Solution: get root or use Magisk Module to unlock.
- π I can't go to the router: the reason: changed the standard IP Solution: Reset the router with the Reset button (hold 10 seconds).

If neither method worked, there are two options: reset the router settings (all parameters are lost) or contact the provider for a duplicate password.
