This is a typical situation for Xiaomi smartphones, and it is not associated with a breakdown, but with the features of the firmware and work of mobile operators.

The thing is, the number SIM-The card is not stored in the phone's memory, but on the operator's server, and the smartphone may not know it if it is not stored in the phone's memory:

MIUI 12.5-14, and we've collected only current methods in this manual, and we'll also tell you what to do if the number is not determined even after the end of the day. Method 1: Xiaomi Redmi 9 standard settings (works 60% of the time)

The most obvious method is to look at the phone's settings. On Redmi 9, the path to the SIM number may vary depending on the version of MIUI, but the overall scheme is the same:

1. Open the Settings app (cog icon).
2. Go to About Phone → General Information (or All options in older versions).
3. Find the Status item. SIM-card or my phone number.

If the number is displayed, great! If not, try the alternative path:

• 📞 Go to Settings. → SIM-maps and mobile networks;
• 🔢 Tap your name on it. SIM-cards (for example, MTS 1 or Beeline);
• 🔍 In some versions MIUI The number appears in the line My number under the name SIM.

⚠️ Note: If the settings instead of the number say Unknown or No data, this does not mean that SIM-The card is broken, and the operator probably just doesn't transmit that information to the device.

Method 2: USSD-codes for all operators (works in 90% of cases)

USSD-Codes are "secret" commands that are sent to the operator and return information about your number, balance or rate. SIM-The card is not defined in the phone settings. Here are universal codes for Russian operators:

How to enter the code:

1. Open the phone (calling) application.
2. Go to the keyboard tab (where you dial the number).
3. Enter. USSD-code for your operator (see table above).
4. Press the call button (green tube).

In a few seconds, a window with your number will appear on the screen, and if an error message arrives instead of the number (for example, the Service is not available), then:

• 🚫 SIM-card not activated;
• 📵 No network (check the antenna in the status bar);
• 🔄 The operator temporarily blocks USSD-requests (rarely, but sometimes).

If USSD-The code didn’t work, try entering it through the Messages app: create a new one. SMS, Type in the code and send it to any number (e.g. 111). Sometimes this works when the call blocks requests.

Method 3: Through the Messages app (if the USSD doesn't work)

If USSD-codes do not help, you can try to send SMS This method works slower, but more reliably, especially for virtual operators (SberMobile, Leto, etc.).

Instructions:

1. Open the Messages app.
2. Create a new SMS.
3. In the recipient field, enter your operator’s short number (see the table below).
4. In the text of the message, write the number or MYNUMBER (registration is not important).
5. Send. SMS.

Usually, the response will come within 1-2 minutes. If the SMS is not sent, check:

• 📶 Is there a network (the antenna icon should be in the status bar);
• 💳 Is there enough money in the account (sometimes the operators block the account) SMS zero-balance);
• 🔄 Is the mode on the plane not on.

Method 4: Third-party applications (if nothing helps)

If no settings, no USSD, neither SMS They don't work, so the last option is to use third-party apps, and they read the number directly from the phone. SIM-Cards but require permission to access the phone.

Third-party applications are the only way to find out the number if SIM-The card is not activated or the operator is blocked. USSD/SMS. But they require permissions, so download only proven high-rated utilities.

Method 5: Physical Testing SIM-Cards (if the phone is not switched on)

If Redmi 9 is not included or SIM-The card is not defined at all, you can try to find out the number physically:

1. Extract. SIM-card from the phone using a paper clip (the hole for extracting the tray is on the upper edge of Redmi 9).
2. Look at the card itself – sometimes the number is printed on plastic (especially on older SIMs).
3. If there is no number, insert the SIM into another phone and use any of the methods above.

Modern nano-SIM numbers are not usually written, but you can find:

• 🔢 ICCID (20 digit code under the barcode - the operator can restore the number;
• 📇 Name of operator, e.g, MTS RU or Beeline);
• 📅 Release date (if the card is old, the number may change during the transfer).

If SIM-The card is damaged (scratching, bent, not readable), it will have to be replaced.

What to do if the number is not determined?

If none of these methods worked, the problem may be one of three:

1. SIM-This is a common situation with new cards, which you need to activate through the operator's website or call the hotline.
2. The operator blocks the identification of the number, and some virtual operators (e.g., SberMobile or Summer) hide the number by default, in which case only a support call will help.
3. SIM-If the phone doesn't see it at all (no network) SIM-maps, the map needs to be replaced.

In order:

1. Call your operator’s support number (usually 0880 for MTS, 0611 for Beeline, etc.) and ask for your number.
2. If the call fails, check the SIM on another phone.
3. If it does not work there, go to the communication salon with your passport to replace.

If the number is not determined in any way, but SIM-The card is working (there is a network), most likely, the operator deliberately hides this information. The only way out is to call in support or look into the contract (the number is indicated there necessarily).
