Incoming calls can be a real challenge if you need to focus on work, take a break from socializing or just avoid unwanted contacts. Xiaomi smartphones based on MIUI offer several ways to completely block calls, from standard features to hidden settings. In this article, we will discuss all the current methods for Redmi, POCO and Xiaomi models (including Xiaomi 13/14, Redmi Note 12/13 and others) running on MIUI 12-14 and HyperOS.
It is important to understand that completely turning off calls does not amount to putting the phone in flight mode or turning off. SIM-We're going to look at solutions that allow us to keep mobile Internet access, SMS You will also learn how to get around operator restrictions and what to do if standard methods do not work on your firmware.
We warn you beforehand that some methods require root rights or third-party apps to be installed, and if youβre not ready to experiment, use the official MIUI settings we described in the first sections.
1. Disable calls via Do Not Disturb (DND) mode
The easiest and safest way is to use the built-in Do Not Disturb (DND) mode, which allows you to turn off all notifications, including calls, but still keeps other phone functions working, which is suitable for temporary shutdown and does not require additional applications.
To activate the DND:
- π± Open the Settings. β Sound and vibration β Don't disturb.
- π Switch the slider to the On position..
- π In the Rules section, select Always (to keep the mode running constantly).
- π In the Call settings, set Block Everything.
Note that MIUI 14 and HyperOS may have slightly different interfaces. If you don't have a Call, check the Exceptions section and make sure there are no active rules for skipping calls from favorite contacts.
β οΈ Attention: Regime DND Blocks all notifications, including alarms and reminders. SMS or notifications from certain applications (such as messengers), set exceptions manually.
2. Block all incoming calls through settings SIM-map
If you need to turn off calls for just one SIM-maps (current for dual-SIM models Xiaomi), use the settings of the mobile network. SIM It doesn't affect the Internet.
Instructions:
- Go to Settings. β SIM-maps and mobile networks.
- Choose the right one. SIM-map, SIM 1).
- Slap on the incoming calls.
- Choose Reject All or Redirect to voice mail (if the service is supported by the operator).
On some firmware (MIUI 12 and below), this item may be called Call Services or Additional Settings. If you don't have an option, try the following method.
What if there is no βincoming callβ item?
| Method | Works at MIUI 12-14 | Requires root. | Blocking SMS. | Keeping the Internet safe. |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Do Not Disturb mode | β Yes. | β No. | β No. | β Yes. |

3.Use of the standard application "Call Lock"
Xiaomi has pre-installed Call Block (or Security β Lock) in MIUI, which allows you to create rules to filter incoming calls, which is suitable if you need to disable calls from all but a select few subscribers.
How to set up:
- π‘οΈ Open the Security app (shield icon).
- π΅ Go to the section Blocking Calls.
- π Activate the option to Block Unknown Numbers.
- π In the Blacklist section, add the rule All contacts (or All numbers).
Note: Some firmware (e.g. HyperOS for Xiaomi 14) may not have a Security app, in which case use an alternative, Google Phone (install from Play Market), which has similar locking features.
π‘
If calls still pass after blocking, check operator settings. Some mobile networks (such as MTS or Beeline) ignore software lock for certain types of calls (such as hidden numbers), in which case contact the operator and request the service "Disallow incoming calls" (usually free).
4. Disable calls via ADB (no root)
If standard methods don't work, you can use ADB (Android Debug Bridge), which doesn't require super-user rights, but requires connecting the phone to a computer.
Instructions:
- Turn on USB Debugging in Settings β About Phone β MIUI Version (tap 7 times on MIUI Version, then go back to Additional Settings β For Developers).
- Connect Xiaomi to your PC and confirm the debugging permission.
- Open the command line (Windows) or the terminal (macOS/Linux) Enter: adb shell settings put global call_blocking_enabled 1
- To unlock calls later, use: adb shell settings put global call_blocking_enabled 0
This command includes system-wide Android-level call locking, so if calls still pass after they're done, try the additional command:
adb shell settings put global call_screening_app nullβ οΈ Attention: After use ADB Some phone functions (such as numbering) may not work properly.
Install Xiaomi drivers on PC|Enable debugging on USB|Download ADB Tools (platform-tools)|Connect your phone to the original cable|Check the connection with the adb device command-->
5. Radical Method: Edit build.prop (root only)
If you have root rights, you can disable calls at the system level by editing the build.prop file. This method is irreversible without rollback changes, so use it only as a last resort.
Step-by-step:
- Install any file manager with root support (such as Root Explorer or Solid Explorer).
- Go to /system/build.prop.
- Find a line. ro.telephony.call_ring.multiple=If it's not, add it at the end of the file.
- Add a new line: persist.radio.voiceblock=1
- Save the file, reboot the phone.
Once you reboot, all incoming calls will be automatically reset, so to return everything back, delete the added line or replace 1 with 0.
π‘
Editing build.prop can cause the phone to run unstable, including mobile network issues.Be sure to back up the original file before making changes.
6. Alternative methods: applications and services of the operator
If system methods are not suitable, consider third-party solutions:
- π± Blocking apps: Truecaller (blocks spam and unknown numbers), Call Blocker (allows you to create rules for all calls), Should I Answer? (filters calls through the spammer database).
- π‘ Operator Services: MTS: send SMS block-text1 room 111. Beeline: Call me on *110*789# And follow the instructions.2: activate the service "Antispam" through your personal account.
- π Call forwarding: Set up a redirect to a non-existent number (e.g, *21*0000000#).
Third-party apps have the advantage of being flexible, like Truecaller, which allows you to block all calls except the contacts from the phone book, but note that some blockers require constant backup, which increases battery consumption.
7. Frequent problems and their solutions
Even after all the methods are used, the calls can continue to arrive, and let's look at the typical causes and ways to fix them:
- π Operator calls: System calls (e.g. from MTS or Beeline) often ignore the lock.Solution: contact the operator and request that the advertisements be disabled.
- π Hidden numbers: If calls are made from hidden numbers, standard methods MIUI Use the Call Blocker app with the option "Block Hidden Numbers".
- π Firmware limitations: On some versions MIUI (for example POCO F1 or Redmi 7) there is no possibility of full locking, in which case only the ADB root.
- πΆ Network problems: If the mobile Internet disappeared after blocking, check the settings APN or reboot the phone.
If none of these methods worked, consider the extreme option of physically turning off the microphone (which is true for older Xiaomi models, where the microphone is connected via a connector), but this will make it impossible to make outgoing calls.
