Why you need a reset to factory settings and when to do it
Resetting the Xiaomi Redmi to factory settings is a radical but sometimes necessary step to restore the smartphone to work, which removes all user data, applications and settings, returning the device to a βout of the boxβ state, most often resorted to in three cases:
First, if the smartphone started to slow down or spontaneously reboot after the MIUI update. This may be due to a conflict of old settings with the new firmware. Second, the reset helps in preparing the phone for sale - so that the new owner does not get access to your accounts and files. And finally, this is the only way to unlock Redmi if you forget the pattern lock or password.
It is important to understand that resetting does not fix hardware problems (such as a faulty battery or a broken screen), but can solve most software failures. For example, after a reset, errors such as βCom.android.phone process stoppedβ or problems with connecting to the mobile network often disappear.
Preparation for resetting: what to do in advance
Before you start resetting, do a few critical steps, or you risk losing photos, contacts, and other data without the ability to recover.
First, back up through the built-in Backup app (Settings β About Phone β Backup).
- π± Contacts and call log
- π· Photos and videos (unless you use Google Photos)
- π SMS and MMS-message
- π΅ System and application settings
Note: MIUI backup does not store data from some applications (such as WhatsApp or banking programs).

If you have Mi Account sync enabled, contacts, notes, and certain settings will be restored automatically after you log in.
Next, check the battery power β it should be at least 50%. If the smartphone runs out during the reset, this can damage the system files and βbrickβ the device. Also turn off Find the device (Settings β Mi Account β Find the device), otherwise after reset, the phone may require the old password.
