Xiaomi Cloud Storage (or Mi Cloud) is a service for automatic backup, synchronization of contacts, photos and documents between devices. But many users face difficulties when first logging in or after resetting. In this article, we will discuss all the current ways of logging into Mi Cloud, including bypassing typical errors and restoring access.
It is important to understand that Xiaomi is linked to the Mi Account, which is not possible to access files without it. If you have not registered an account, the process will take no more than 5 minutes. For those who already have a login but have forgotten the data, we have prepared a separate section with instructions for recovery.
This article is relevant for all Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO devices based on MIUI 12-14, as well as for access via the web version from a computer, and we will pay special attention to the problems with two-factor authentication and regional restrictions that often block the entry of users from Russia and the CIS.
1. Ways to log into Mi Cloud from a smartphone
The easiest way to access the cloud is through the Mi Cloud mobile app, pre-installed on all Xiaomi smartphones. If the app icons are not on the desktop, it can be found in the Google Services folder or through a system search (Settings β Search β βMi Cloudβ).
Entry algorithm:
- π± Open the Mi Cloud app (white cloud icon on a blue background).
- π Enter the email or phone number associated with the Mi Account.
- π If you have two-factor authentication enabled, confirm the login via SMS email.
- π² Allow access to contacts, photos and other data (optional).
If the Mi Cloud app is not available (for example, on custom firmware), use an alternative path:
- Go to Settings β Xiaomi account.
- Click on your profile at the top of the screen.
- Select Mi Cloud from the menu.
Important: On devices with MIUI Global, cloud login may be blocked due to regional restrictions, in which case you will need to change the account region (instruction in Section 5).
2. Enter Mi Cloud from a computer
The web version of Mi Cloud allows you to manage files from any device, including a Windows, macOS or Linux PC.
- Go to the official website: i.mi.com.
- Select the interface language (Russian is available).
- Enter your Mi Account (email/phone + password).
- Confirm the login via SMS or email (if 2FA is enabled).
After authorization, you will see the main page with sections:
- π Files β Access to uploaded documents.
- π· Gallery - photos and videos from backup copies.
- π Contacts β a synchronized phone book.
- π Notes - records from the Mi Notes app.
π‘
If you have a Region Mismatch error when you sign in from your PC, try using a VPN with servers in India or Singapore, which temporarily bypasses regional locks.
Limitations of the web version:
- β No way to upload files size > 50MB.
- β No drag-and-drop support for folders.
- β You can download backup copies. SMS and call logs.
3. Restoring access to Mi Account
If you have forgotten your password or lost access to the email/phone associated with your account, use the recovery function:
- On the Mi Cloud login screen, click Forgot your password.
- Choose a Recovery Method: π§ via email (the code will be sent to the mail). π± Through SMS (phone-code). π By backup email (if configured).
Follow the instructions on the screen to create a new password.
Critical information: if neither email nor phone is tied to the account, access can only be restored through an appeal in support of Xiaomi with proof of ownership of the device (checks, IMEI).
Frequent errors in recovery:
| Mistake. | Reason. | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| Invalid email/phone | Incorrect data or account deleted | Check the correct entry. If the account is deleted, no recovery is possible. |
| Too many attempts | Too many attempts to enter. | Wait 24 hours or change IP (use mobile internet). |
| Region locked | Account is linked to another region | Change the region in your account settings or use a VPN. |
