Have you bought a used Xiaomi Mi Band or Xiaomi Watch but aren't sure about the exact model? Or lost the box and there's no explicit version in the device settings? Defining the Xiaomi smartwatch model is a common problem, especially if the gadget is bought by hand, imported from China or just lay idle for several years. Without the exact model name, you won't be able to download the correct firmware, buy a strap or accessories, and sometimes even connect the watch to a phone.
In this article, we have collected all possible ways of identifying, from the obvious (viewing the case and packaging) to the hidden (analysis of firmware and hardware code), focused on the Chinese versions of watches, which often masquerade as global models, as well as devices without original firmware. Inspection of the hull and rear cover
The quickest way is to look at the watch body carefully, and the manufacturer puts the markings on the back cover or under the strap, but it can be barely noticeable, and if you take a magnifying glass or a lid with the flash on, you can see the small symbols.
Where to look:
- 🔍 Under the strap – often the model is listed on a plastic/metal base (e.g. Mi Band 5 or Watch) S1).
- 📏 On the back of the case, look for a line with the letters M (for example, the letter M, M2029 For the Mi Band 6).
- 🔢 Next to sensors – sometimes the model is listed next to charging contacts (e.g. Amazfit) GTR 2, which is often confused with Xiaomi).

2. Verification of original packaging and documents
If you have a box, a manual, or a warranty card, the model is listed 90 percent of the time.
- 📦 Box – look for the name on the front (e.g. Xiaomi Mi Smart Band 6) or on a barcode sticker (model line).
- 📄 Instructions – the full name is usually indicated on the first page (e.g. Xiaomi Watch). S1 Active).

Important: In Chinese versions, the box can be entirely in Chinese, and the model is indicated in characters, in which case Google Translate will help with the photo recognition function. Upload a photo of the box, the service will automatically translate the name.

⚠️ Note: If the app doesn’t recognize the device or shows an error in the Unsupported device, your watch may be:
- 🔧 Chinese version (requires a change of region in the firmware).
- 🛠️ With custom firmware (for example, Amazfit, re-stitched under Xiaomi).
- ⚠️ Fake (in this case, the application will not connect at all).

4. Analysis of firmware and system information
If external methods didn't work, you can look at the system settings of the watch.
- On the main screen of the watch, swipe up or down (depending on the model) to open the menu.

- Look for lines: Model (e.g. M2129B1), firmware version (e.g. 1.0.7.56) and hardware version (e.g. V1.1).

If the firmware has a code amazon_* or huami_*, Your device is branded as Amazfit and is not the original Xiaomi device – despite the similarity.
Verification by IMEI or serial number
Xiaomi smartwatches (especially SIM-card models, such as the Xiaomi Watch S1 Pro) have a unique IMEI or serial number, which can be used for verification through official services.
How to find IMEI:
- Type *#06# on the keyboard (not working on all models).
- Look at the settings: Settings → About the phone → Status.
- On a box or sticker under the battery (requires disassembly!).

6. Visual comparison with official photos
If all previous methods have failed, then you have to compare the look of your watch to the official images.
- Photograph the watch from several angles (facing panel, side buttons, back cover).
- Go to the official Xiaomi website in the Wearables section.
- Compare the details: 🎨 Color and shape of the body (for example, the Mi Band 7 has an oval display, and the Mi Band 6 has a rectangular display). 🔘 Location of buttons (Xiaomi Watch) S1 The Mi Watch has two physical buttons and the Mi Watch has one). 🔋 Charging cable type (e.g. Mi Band 4 is charged via a pin connector and Mi Band 5 is a magnetic cable).

7. Contact Xiaomi Support
If you can't identify the model yourself, you have to call in the official support.
