Are you tired of the annoying banners on your Xiaomi lock screen that appear every time you unlock? It's not just annoying - the ad notifications slow down the system, consume traffic and battery. In MIUI (even in the latest versions 14-15), ads are built into the firmware level, but it can be disabled in several ways - from standard settings to deep configuration changes.
In this article, we will discuss 5 proven methods of removing ads from the screensaver, including hidden MIUI settings, disabling Xiaomi services through ADB, and even radical measures for the most persistent banners. All instructions are relevant for Redmi, POCO, Xiaomi 11/12/13/14 and Black Shark models based on Android 11-14. Importantly, some methods require technical skills - we marked them with warnings.
Before you start, check your firmware version in Settings β About Phone β MIUI. It depends on which steps are right for you. Also, note that after major MIUI updates, advertising may return β we will tell you how to avoid this.
1. Standard Disabling Advertising in MIUI Settings
The easiest way is to use the built-in options, and unfortunately, in the latest versions of MIUI, these settings are often hidden or unstable, but itβs worth a try.
Go to: Settings β Memory β Clean (bottom tab) β Settings (cog in top right corner)
There should be a Recommendations switch -- disable it. If this is not there, then your version of MIUI doesn't support it (often on global firmware).
Next, check: Settings β Notifications β Additional β Advertising Notifications
Disable all sliders associated with Mi Browser, Mi Video, GetApps, and MSA (Mobile Services Framework) which are responsible for most banner ads.
- π Check out "Mi Account": Go to Settings β Xiaomi account β Account settings β Synchronize and disable Recommendations and Personalization.
- π± Reset Advertising Settings: In Settings β About the phone tap 5 times on the version MIUI, Then in the menu that appears, select Reset Advertising Settings.
- π Reboot your phone: After changes, be sure to restart the device - some services apply the settings only after the reboot.
β οΈ Note: On some models (e.g, POCO X3 Pro or Redmi Note 10) After disabling advertising in the settings, banners can return via 1-2 This is due to the background synchronization of Xiaomi services, in which case you can proceed to the following methods.
2. disable advertising through MSA (Mobile Services Framework)
MSA (Mobile Services Framework) is a Xiaomi system application that manages personalized advertising. It can not be removed without root, but you can limit its activity.
First, turn off auto-run MSA: Settings β Applications β Application Management β Three points (menu) β Auto-run
Find MSA (or Mobile Services) and disable Autoplay. Then go back to the app list, find MSA, and:
- π« Prohibit notifications
- π Limit background activity
- π΅ Turn off mobile data and Wi-Fi for this app
To completely disable advertising services through ADB (without root):
- Install Android SDK Platform-Tools on your PC.
- Connect your phone to your computer with USB debugging enabled (Settings β About Phone β MIUI Version (7 times) β Developer Settings β USB debugging).
- Open the command line in the folder with platform-tools and type:
adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.miui.systemAdSolution
adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.xiaomi.midrop
adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.xiaomi.marketThese commands will disable the main advertising modules. Once done, reboot the phone.
β οΈ Warning: Disabling com.xiaomi.market will remove the GetApps app through which updates are installed for some system applications. If you need these updates, skip the last command.
USB debugging enabled
ADB drivers installed
Phone connected to PC in file transfer mode

3. Removal of advertising through regional settings
Changing the region to the European Union (EEA) automatically disables most of the ads in MIUI thanks to GDPR laws. This method works on 90% of Xiaomi models, but requires resetting the phone to factory settings.
Instructions:
- Make a backup of the data through Settings β Additional β Backup and Reset.
- Perform reset: Settings β Additional β Backup and Reset β Reset settings.
- When you first set up your phone on the region selection screen, scroll down and select European Union (EEA).
- Skip signing in to your Mi Account (if possible) and complete the setup.
Once reset, ads on the screensaver and system apps will disappear, the downside is that you have to reconfigure the phone and reinstall the apps, and some features (such as the themes of the design) may become unavailable outside of China.
| Region | The screensaver commercial | Advertising in annexes | Limitations |
|---|---|---|---|
| China (CN) | There is. | Many. | No. |
| Global (Global) | There is. | Moderately. | No. |
| Europe (EEA) | No. | Minimum. | Limited access to certain topics |
| India (IN) | There is. | Many. | No. |
| Russia (RU) | There is. | Moderately. | No. |

If after resetting the region, the ad returned after a few days, check if the firmware has updated automatically. Turn off auto updates in Settings β About the phone β System Update β Three points β Settings β Auto Update
4. Use of third-party applications (without root)
If previous methods didn't work, you can use specialized utilities. They don't require root, but some functions can work unstable.
The best apps to block ads on Xiaomi:
- π‘οΈ Blokada β Blocks Advertising Domains at Level DNS. Install from the official website (not from Google Play!). Enable the Hosts module and add listings: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/StevenBlack/hosts/master/hosts https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Perflyst/PiHoleBlocklist/master/SmartTV.txt
- π§ App Inspector shows hidden settings of applications, and you can use it to disable advertising modules in the app. MIUI without ADB.
- π΅ NetGuard β blocks Internet access for system applications responsible for advertising (for example, com.miui.systemAdSolution).
For Blokada:
- Install the application and give permission to create a VPN.
- Enable Hosts lock and add lists from the item above.
- Reboot the phone.
The advertisement on the screensaver should disappear within 24 hours.
β οΈ Note: Apps like Blokada create local VPN, If after installation, SberBank Online or Tinkoff stop working, add them to exceptions or use alternative methods.
5. Radical methods: firmware and root
If nothing works, there are extreme measures like rooting or flashing your phone to custom firmware, which are risky: you lose your warranty and you can brick your device.
Method 1: Install custom firmware (e.g. Pixel Experience or LineageOS)
- Unlock the bootloader through the official Xiaomi tool (requires a wait of 7-15 days).
- Install TWRP or OrangeFox Recovery.
- Sweep through custom firmware without ads (e.g. Pixel Experience).
Advantage: no advertising or Chinese software, downside: camera or sensor bugs are possible.
Method 2: Remove Advertising Modules through Magisk
After receiving root:
- Install Magisk Manager.
- Download Disable MIUI Analytics and Ads.
- Reboot the phone.
This will remove all advertising services at the system level.
What happens if you break the unlocking of the bootloader?
6.How to prevent the return of ads after updates
Even after successful removal of the advert, it may return after the MIUI update.
- π Turn off auto updates: Settings β The phone. β Updating the system β Three points. β Settings β Auto Update (turn off all sliders).
- π₯ Block specific app updates: In Google Play, find GetApps, Mi Browser, Mi Video and turn off auto-update for them.
- π‘οΈ Use firewall: Apps like NetGuard or AFWall+ (Requires root) can block access to Xiaomi ad servers.
- π Check settings periodically: After manual updates, go to Settings β Memory. β Cleanup β Settings and resetting advertising preferences.
If you have decided to upgrade before installing a new firmware:
- Backup current settings through Settings β Additional β Backup and Reset.
- Turn off the Internet (mobile data and Wi-Fi) immediately after the update β this will prevent the download of advertising modules.
- Repeat the steps in Section 2 (disconnect via ADB).
