Advertising on Xiaomi Redmi 9 Pro smartphones is one of the most annoying features of MIUI firmware, which the manufacturer has integrated into system applications. Even after buying the device, users encounter banners in the settings menu, notifications about βrecommended servicesβ and pop-ups in the Browser, Music or Themes, and advertising does not only appear in Chinese versions of the firmware, it is present in global builds for the European market.
In this article, we will discuss 5 working ways to remove ads on the Redmi 9 Pro (model M2007J19C), including official MIUI settings, disabling system applications via ADB, and radical methods like installing custom firmware. All instructions are relevant for versions of MIUI 12-14 and Android 10-13. Importantly, some methods require unlocking the bootloader or superuser rights - we will specify where this is necessary.
Before proceeding, check the version of your firmware in Settings. β The phone. β Version. MIUI. In this case, we recommend you to immediately go to methods with the complete removal of system applications.

3. Installation of alternative firmware (for experienced users)
If youβre willing to take drastic measures, installing custom firmware (like LineageOS or Pixel Experience) will completely remove all MIUI ads. This method requires unlocking the bootloader and may take away warranty, but gives you full control over the device.

5. Manual removal of advertising applications (requires root)
For root-right users, it is possible to completely remove ad packages from the system, which is the most effective, but also the most risky method β removing critical applications can lead to a bootloop.
List of safe packets to remove (checked on Redmi 9 Pro):

6. Alternative methods: DNS or host file lock
If the previous methods seem complicated, you can try blocking ad servers at the network level, which will not remove the ads completely, but will reduce the amount of advertising.
Method 1: Changing the DNS
- πΆ Go to Settings. β Wi-Fi (or Mobile Network).
- π§ Click on your network. β Change the network β Additionally. β Settings IP β select Static.
- π In the fields DNS 1 and DNS 2 Enter 1.1.1.1 1.0.0.1 (or use AdGuard) DNS: 94.140.14.14 and 94.140.15.15).
Method 2: Editing the hosts file (requires root)
- Download the current hosts file with ad blocking.
- Copy it to /system/etc/hosts (pre-backup the original file!).
- Set the license 644 (rw-r-----).
These methods block access to Xiaomiβs ad servers, but do not affect system notifications. For full effect, combine them with other methods from the article.

DNS blocking is the safest method, but only works for online advertising. The system banners in MIUI will remain.
