Why Xiaomi is getting ads after videos and how to fix it
You've just finished watching a video on a Xiaomi Mi TV or a MIUI smartphone, and suddenly a screen is filled with annoying ads β a familiar situation? This problem has been haunting users of Xiaomi devices for several years, and the reason for this is the aggressive monetization of the branded shell. Ads can appear in the form of banners, pop-ups or even full-screen commercials, interrupting the viewing of content.
The main reason is built-in MSA (Mi Service Analytics) and Mi Video services, which automatically download advertising materials based on your activity. Even if you do not use standard Xiaomi applications, the system can display ads through system notifications or built-in widgets. Fortunately, there are several ways to fix this, from simple tweaks to radical measures.
In this article, we will discuss 5 proven methods that will help remove ads after watching videos on any Xiaomi device β from Mi TVs to smartphones on MIUI 12-14. All instructions are current for 2026 and do not require root rights (except for one advanced method).
Method 1: Disabling personalized advertising in MIUI settings
The easiest and safest method is to deactivate personalized recommendations right in the system settings, which is suitable for Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO smartphones on any version of MIUI (including HyperOS).
Go to: Settings β Google β Advertising (or Settings β Additional β Privacy β Advertising on older versions).
Turn off the option βPersonalized Adsβ and reset the advertising ID (Reset button).

Method 2: Block ads via Mi Video and Mi Browser
If the ads appear after watching a video in a standard Mi Video player or Mi Browser, the problem lies in the settings of these applications. Many users do not know that even if you do not run these programs, they can work in the background and display ads.
For Mi Video:
- Open the Mi Video app.
- Go to Profile β Settings β Recommendations.
- Turn off "Personalized recommendations" and "Advertising in the player".
- Clear the app cache in the phone settings.
For Mi Browser:
- Launch Mi Browser.
- Click on the three dots in the top right corner β Settings β Privacy.
- Turn off "Personalized News" and "Show Recommendations."
- In the Additional section, disable Page Preloading (it often downloads banner ads).

Method 4: Installation of an alternative launcher (for smartphones)
If you see ads on the home screen or on the app menu, the standard MIUI launcher is to blame, and you can replace it with a third-party launcher like Nova Launcher or Lawnchair, which not only removes the ads, but also adds additional customization features.
Instructions:
- Download Nova Launcher from Google Play.
- Install and open the application.
- Click "Install as default launcher".
- In the Nova Launcher settings, go to Settings β Home Screen and turn off βShow Google Tipsβ (they may also contain ads).
