Advertising in Xiaomi Redmi smartphones is one of the most talked-about issues among owners of MIUI-based devices. Even after buying a new device, users face intrusive banners in system applications, notifications and on the lock screen. The manufacturer has integrated advertising modules deep into the firmware, but this does not mean that they can not be eliminated.
In this article, weβll look at all the current ways to disable ads on Redmi, from standard settings to advanced methods using ADB and third-party utilities. Itβs important to understand that the effectiveness of methods depends on the MIUI version (especially relevant for MIUI 14/15) and regional firmware. Global ROMs usually contain less advertising than Chinese ones (China ROM), but even these are not without intrusive elements.
Before you start settings, make sure your device has the latest firmware installed. Some options may not be available or otherwise in older builds. Also remember: removing all system-level ads may require unlocking the bootloader and obtaining root rights, which voids the warranty.
1. disable personalized advertising in MIUI settings
The easiest and safest way to reduce ad impressions is to deactivate personalization in system settings, which wonβt remove all banners, but will significantly reduce their number, especially in Mi Browser, Mi Video and GetApps apps.
Instructions:
- π± Open the Settings. β Google β Advertising (or Settings) β Additionally. β Confidentiality β Advertising in new versions).
- π Switch the slider "Personalized advertising" to the off position.
- ποΈ Click "Reset advertising" ID" (if available).
- π In the Settings section β Annexes β Application management β Miui Daemon Shut Down Auto Start.
This method works on all Redmi models (including Redmi Note 12/13, Redmi 10/11), but has limitations:
- β Does not remove ads in the weather, calendar and topics.
- β Does not block notifications from system applications.
- β Reduces the number of targeted banners in Mi Browser and GetApps.
β οΈ Note: After the advertising reset ID Some applications (such as the Google Play Store) may temporarily run unstable.Reboot your device if errors occur.
2 Manually disabling advertising in each application
MIUI allows you to disable ads separately for each system application, which takes time, but is more noticeable than a general reset, and below is a list of applications where ads can be manually deactivated.
| Annex | The path to settings | What to turn off |
|---|---|---|
| Weather. | Application settings β Additional | "Advertising Notices" slider |
| Mi Video | Profile β Settings β Recommendations | Options "Personalized recommendations" and "Advertising content" |
| GetApps (Mi App Store) | Profile β Settings β Advertising | All sliders in the section "Personalized advertising" |
| Topics | Profile β Settings β Notifications | Option "Advertising push notifications" |
| Mi Browser | Settings β Confidentiality | "Personalized News" and "Advertising Content" |
For Calendar and Notes applications, the path may vary depending on the version of MIUI. If there is no explicit ad item in the settings, try:
- Open the app.
- Stick to three points (menu) β Settings.
- Find the "Notifications" or "Privacy" section.
- Disable all options related to "recommendations" and "special offers".

adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.miui.msa.globalWhat if the ADB canβt see the device?
4. Installation of custom firmware without advertising
The most radical, but also the most effective way to get rid of advertising is to install an alternative firmware, for example, Xiaomi.EU or LineageOS. These builds are devoid of advertising modules and offer advanced privacy settings.
- π Unlocking the bootloader (Bootloader Unlock).
- π₯ Custom recaveri installations (TWRP).
- π οΈ Firmware via Fastboot or Recovery.
Advantages of custom firmware:
- β Total absence of advertising at the system level.
- β Regular security updates.
- β Additional functions (e.g, ViPER4Android sound-wise).
Disadvantages:
- β Loss of warranty (if the bootloader is unlocked).
- β Risk of "bricking" of the device with firmware errors.
- β Certain functions (e.g, NFC for payment) may be unstable.
If you decide to do this, follow the official instructions on the forums Xiaomi.EU or XDA Developers.
- Xiaomi.EU is an optimized version of MIUI without advertising.
- LineageOS is a pure Android with a minimalist design.
- Pixel Experience is a firmware with the Google Pixel interface.
