Vibration of the keyboard on Xiaomi smartphones can be annoying, especially if you type a lot or use the device in silence. Fortunately, you can turn it off in a few seconds, but the methods vary depending on the version of MIUI and the phone model. In this article, we will analyze all the current methods, from standard settings to hidden settings for advanced users.
The problem is that the manufacturer often changes the layout of options in new firmware versions. For example, in MIUI 14, the path to keyboard settings is different from MIUI 12, and in some models (for example, POCO F5), vibration is controlled through a separate tactile response menu. We have put together universal solutions that work on 90% of Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO devices.
If you are not sure about your firmware version, check it in Settings โ About Phone โ MIUI version. This will help you determine which method is right for you.
1. Standard method: through keyboard settings
The easiest method is to turn off vibration directly in the keyboard settings, which works on most devices with MIUI 12-14 and a standard Gboard or MIUI Keyboard keyboard.
Instructions:
- Open any application to enter text (such as Messages or Notes).
- Tap the input field to make the keyboard appear.
- Press the gear icon (โ๏ธ) in the top row of the keyboard, it will cause its settings.
- Go to Preferences โ Vibration when pressed (or Tactile response).
- Move the slider to the off position.
If you have Gboard installed (keyboard from Google), the path will be different:
- ๐ฑ Open the Settings. โ System system โ Language and input โ Virtual keyboard โ Gboard.
- ๐ Select Settings โ Sound and vibration.
- ๐ Turn off the Vibration option when you press the keys.
Note: On some models (e.g. Xiaomi 13 Pro), the vibration option may be hidden in the section Additional keyboard settings. If you can't find it, try the methods in the following sections.
2. via tactile response settings (for MIUI 13โ14)
In newer versions of Xiaomi firmware, the keyboard vibration can be tied to a common tactile response system, meaning that it can only be turned off through the phoneโs global settings.
How to do this:
- Go to Settings. โ Sound and vibration.
- Choose the tactile response (or vibration when touching).
- Turn off the Vibration option when you press the keyboard.
If there is no such item, try:
- ๐ง Go to Settings โ Special facilities โ Physical interaction โ Vibration.
- ๐ฑ In some models (for example, POCO X5 Pro) option hidden in Settings โ Additionally. โ Tactical response.
What to do if there is no item "Vibration when pressing the keyboard"?
Important: Disabling tactile response can affect vibration when you click on other interface elements (such as buttons on the menu). If it is critical, use alternative methods.
3. Disable vibration through ADB (for advanced users)
If standard methods donโt work, you can turn off the keyboard vibration via ADB (Android Debug Bridge), a method that works for all Xiaomi models but requires a connection to a computer.
Step-by-step:
- Turn on the Developer Mode on your phone: ๐ง Go to Settings. โ The phone. ๐ฑ 7 times press the version MIUI, Notice: You have become a developer".

4.Use of third-party keyboards without vibration
If nothing works, the easiest way to install an alternative keyboard is to manually turn off the vibration.
| keyboard | Support for vibration shutdown | Features |
|---|---|---|
| Gboard | โ Yes (in the sound settings) | Integration with Google, gesture support |
| SwiftKey | โ Yes (sound and vibration section") | AI-prediction of words, design themes |
| Fleksy | โ Yes (in extended settings) | Minimalist design, gesture support |
| Chroom | โ No (vibration is always on) | Support for Russian language, but limited settings |
How to install and configure:
- Download the keyboard from Google Play (such as Gboard).
- Activate it in Settings โ System โ Language and input โ Virtual keyboard.
- Open the keyboard settings and turn off vibration in the Sound/Tactile response section.
Tip: Check reviews before installing a new keyboard โ some users complain about Cyrillic bugs in SwiftKey on MIUI 14.
5. Resetting keyboard settings to factory
If the vibration comes after updating or changing the keyboard, resetting the keyboard will help, and it will return all parameters to the default state, including tactile response.
Instructions:
- ๐ง For MIUI Keyboard: Go to Settings โ Annexes โ Application management. Find the keyboard. MIUI and select Warehouse. Click Clear Data and Clear Cache.
Gboard
- Open Settings โ System โ Language and input โ Virtual Keyboard โ Gboard.
- Select additionally โ Resetting settings.
โ ๏ธ Attention! The reset will delete all saved words, input histories and personal keyboard settings. If you use Gboard, pre-synchronize your data with your Google account.
After the reset, check if the vibration is still there. If so, move on to the next section.
6.Verification for viruses and conflicting applications
Sometimes the keyboard vibration is triggered by third-party applications that change the system settings.
- ๐ฆ Viruses or spyware (especially if the vibration appears suddenly).
- ๐ง Customization applications (e.g. Substratum, Xposed).
- ๐ฎ Game utilities (e.g. Game Turbo on the POCO).
If the update doesnโt help, try:
- ๐ Reset your phone settings to factory (Settings) โ The phone. โ Resetting settings).
- ๐ฅ Install firmware manually via the Mi Flash Tool (power users only!).
