Xiaomi Poco X3 Pro is one of the most popular smartphones in the budget segment, but its standard ringing tunes are often criticized for monotony. The increasing (or progressive) call solves this problem: the volume smoothly increases from quiet squeak to the maximum level, which helps not to miss an important call. In this article, we will analyze all the ways to activate the function, from hidden settings MIUI to installing specialized applications.
It's important to understand that the Poco X3 Pro runs on the MIUI (shell from Xiaomi), where the incremental call is turned off by default. Unlike smartphones on pure Android, there is no separate switch in the audio menu - you will have to use workarounds. We tested all methods on the firmware MIUI 12.5 and MIUI 13, so the instructions are relevant for most users.
Method 1: Enable via hidden MIUI settings
The most reliable way is to activate a surge call through an engineering menu, which doesn't require root rights, but you have to follow the instructions carefully so you don't get the other settings down.
Open the phone application and enter the combination:
##4636##Then you'll see the Test menu. Select Battery Settings (don't be afraid of the name, there's a sound setting hidden here too) Scroll down to the Audio section and find the Ringing Volume Ramp Up line. Switch it to ON.
Enter the code ##4636## in the Phone app
Select "Battery settings" โ "Audio"
Find the line "Ringing Volume Ramp Up"
Activate the switch (ON)
Reboot your smartphone to apply changes-->
Note: Some firmware may call it Volume Ramp or Progressive Ringing. If you don't find a string, your version of MIUI doesn't support it (relevant to MIUI 14+).
โ ๏ธ Note: Do not change other options in the engineering menu without understanding their purpose. For example, disabling VoLTE in this section can lead to problems with mobile communication.
Method 2: Use of the Sound and Vibration application
If the engineering menu didnโt work, try to get around the restrictions through the standard Sound and Vibration app, which works on MIUI 12.5โ13.5, but requires pre-preparedness.
Go to Settings โ Sounds and Vibrations โ Call Melody. Select any standard tune (e.g. MIUI Ring). Now go back to the main Sounds and Vibrations menu and click on the three dots in the top right corner. In the drop-down list, select Additional Settings โ Climbing Call. Activate the slider.
| MIUI version | Support for the method | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| MIUI 12.0โ12.5 | Yes. | The item may be called "Smooth increase in volume" |
| MIUI 13.0โ13.5 | Yes (not on all regional firmware) | You must pre-select a standard melody |
| MIUI 14+ | No. | Removed, use method 1 or 3 |
On the firmware for the global market (EEA), the item "Increasing call" is often hidden. To unlock it, temporarily change the region of the smartphone to India or China in the settings Additional โ Region.
Method 3: Third-party applications for a surge call
If the system methods didn't work, we had to install specialized utilities, and we tested 5 applications and we selected the two most reliable ones.
- ๐ Ringtone Maker & Ringtones โ allows you to create custom tunes with the effect of surge. X3 Pro.
- ๐ Volume Ramp for Calls is a utility that emulates a mounting call through layering of sound. MIUI 14, but requires permission to access notices.
To set up the Volume Ramp for Calls app:
- Install it from Google Play.
- Open and grant permissions for Notifications and System Sounds Modification.
- In the application settings, select Progressive Mode and set the build-up time (recommended 3-5 seconds).
- Activate the Enable for Calls switch.
โ ๏ธ Note: Applications for modifying system sounds may conflict with MIUI Optimizations. If after installation calls are completely gone โ disable optimization in Settings โ Special facilities โ MIUI Optimizations.

Problems and Solutions: Why the Increasing Call Doesn't Work
Even when you set it up properly, it may not work, and here are the typical reasons and ways to fix them:
- ๐ Disabled sound in profile - check that in Settings โ No sounds activated No sound or vibration.
- ๐ Energy saving conflict โ add the call app to battery optimization exceptions (Settings) โ Battery โ Optimizing the battery).
- ๐ฑ Resetting the sound settings - after the update MIUI The surge settings are reset. Reset the settings again.
If you are using a double SIM, The function can only work for the main card. To fix this, go to Settings. SIM-maps and prioritize calls for the desired slot.
What if the call becomes intermittent after setting up?
Comparison of methods: which to choose
Each method has pros and cons. Here's a comparison table for quick choices:
| Method | Difficulty | Reliability | Requires root. | It's working on MIUI 14. |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Engineering menu | Medium | Tall. | No. | Yeah (not on all firmware) |
| Standard settings | Low. | Medium | No. | No. |
| Third-party annexes | Tall. | Low (possible bugs) | No. | Yes. |
For most Poco X3 Pro users, the first method (engineering menu) is optimal, it requires no additional software installation and works steadily. If you have MIUI 14, try the third method with the Volume Ramp application, but be prepared for possible conflicts.

On MIUI 12.5 firmware and below, the incremental call can be enabled through standard settings. On MIUI 13+, it is more reliable to use an engineering menu or third-party utilities.
Additional chips: how to improve the sound of the call
The mounting bell is just part of the setup of the perfect sound alert. Here are some more life hacks for the Poco X3 Pro:
- ๐ต Custom melodies with an increase effect - download special ringtones in the format.mp3 From sites like Zedge (see "progressive ringtone").
- ๐ Volume up via Equalizer โ in the sound settings, activate the Equalizer and select the Loudness Preset for a clearer sound.
- ๐ณ Vibration by template - in Settings โ Sounds. โ Vibration when calling, select the pattern Increasing for tactile effect.
If you miss calls frequently in noisy places, turn on Missed Call Notification in the Phone app settings. The smartphone will vibrate every 2 minutes until you read the notification.

Create a separate sound profile for important contacts. In Contacts โ Groups, add people to the Favorites group, and then assign a unique melody to it with an increasing effect through Settings โ Sounds โ Melody for the group.
