Xiaomi TVs are some of the most popular smart TVs on the market, thanks to a combination of price, quality and functionality. But even with such devices, there are sometimes situations when you need to quickly turn off the sound: late watching movies, loud advertising or having to focus on subtitles. Unlike conventional TVs, where you just press a button, Mi TV and Redmi Smart TV have several ways to control the sound, from standard to hidden.
In this article, we will discuss all the current methods of turning off sound on Xiaomi TVs (including models with PatchWall and Google TV), and how to avoid typical errors. You will learn how to remove sound through the remote, physical buttons on the body, the Mi Home mobile app, as well as using voice commands. Separately, we will consider cases when the sound does not turn off due to malfunctions - and what to do about it.
1. Classic method: the button "Mute" on the remote
The most obvious and quickest method is to use the Mute button on the remote control, which works on all Xiaomi models, including:

- 📺 Mi TV Q1/Q2/Q2Q (premium)
- 📺 Redmi Smart TV X/A (budgetary models)

To turn off the sound:
- Press the Mute button once - the sound will disappear, an icon with a crossed out speaker will appear on the screen.
- To return the sound, press Mute again or change the volume with the Volume +/- buttons.
⚠️ Note: On some Xiaomi remotes (e.g., for 2020-2021 models), the Mute button is paired with a Netflix or Prime Video button. In this case, press and hold it for 2 seconds - this activates the no-sound mode.

2.Switching off sound through buttons on the TV body
If the remote is lost, broken or discharged, the sound can be turned off using physical buttons on the TV itself.

Xiaomi TVs offer advanced audio settings that can be useful in everyday use:
