Vibration when typing on Xiaomi can be annoying โ especially if you type a lot or use your smartphone in silence. Fortunately, you can turn it off in a few seconds, but the methods vary depending on the version of MIUI, the device model and the keyboard installed. In this article, we will analyze all the current methods, from standard settings to hidden settings for advanced users.
It is important to understand that the vibration response on Xiaomi comes in two types: system (depending on the MIUI firmware) and keyboard (configurable in the input application). We will show you how to remove both. If you use a third-party keyboard (for example, Gboard or SwiftKey), the instructions will be different, as we will discuss below.
Warning: on some models (for example, Xiaomi 13T or Redmi Note 12) after upgrading to MIUI 14, the vibration settings menu has moved. If you do not find the right item, check the alternative paths that we will show in the appropriate section.
1.Switch off vibration in the standard MIUI keyboard
Most Xiaomi users use the Mi Keyboard (or Xiaomi Keyboard in the newer versions) to remove the vibrating response:
- Open any application to enter text (such as Messages or Notes).
- Touch the badge. โ๏ธ (gears) on the keyboard to open its settings.
- Go to Sound and Vibration (or Tactile Feedback in MIUI 14).
- Turn off the Vibration switch when pressed (or Tactile response).
If there is no Vibration, then your version of the keyboard uses system settings, in which case move on to the next section.

Note for POCO: On POCO F and POCO X smartphones, the path may be different. Try an alternative route: Settings โ Additional settings โ Language and input โ Current keyboard โ Settings โ Vibration.
2.System vibration shutdown in MIUI
If the vibration remains even after the keyboard is turned off, the problem is with the MIUI system settings, which works for all models, including the Xiaomi 12, Redmi 10 and POCO M5:
- Open Settings (Icon) โ๏ธ desk-top).
- Go to Sound and Vibration (or Sound and Tactile Effects in MIUI 14).
- Select tactile feedback (or touch vibration).
- Turn off the Vibration slider when pressed or System Vibration.
On some devices (e.g. Xiaomi Pad 6), this item may be called UI Vibration. If you don't, search by settings (icon). ๐ at the top of the screen) and enter the request โvibrationยป.
๐ก
On Xiaomi with Android 13+, system vibration can be turned off via Do Not Disturb mode. To do this, activate it and select Turn off vibration in additional settings.
3. Features for different versions of MIUI
The MIUI interface is constantly changing, so the location of the vibration settings depends on the firmware version.
| MIUI version | The path to vibration settings | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| MIUI 12 | Settings โ Sound and vibration โ Vibration when touched | On some devices, the item is called tactile feedback. |
| MIUI 13 | Settings โ Sounds and tactile effects โ Interface Vibration | You can also turn off the vibration in the game mode. |
| MIUI 14 | Settings โ Sound and vibration โ Tactile feedback โ Vibration when pressed | Redmi Note 12 and later may require a reboot. |
| HyperOS (new firmware) | Settings โ Sound and vibration โ System vibration โ Disable everything | In HyperOS, the vibration of the keyboard and the system are set separately. |
If your version of MIUI is not listed in the table, try the universal way: open the settings and type "vibration" in the search.
4. disable vibration in third-party keyboards (Gboard, SwiftKey)
If you use a keyboard from Google (Gboard) or Microsoft (SwiftKey), the vibration settings are inside the app itself.
For Gboard:
- Open any text field and tap the icon. โ๏ธ keyboard.
- Select Settings โ Input settings.
- Turn off Vibration when pressed and Sound when pressed.
For SwiftKey:
- Press the badge. โ๏ธ keyboard.
- Go to Sound and Vibration.
- Turn off the vibration when you press the keys.
Important: Some keyboards (such as the Samsung Keyboard) may conflict with MIUI settings. If the vibration doesn't turn off, try changing the default keyboard to Settings โ Language and input.
5. Hidden settings for advanced users
If the standard methods do not work, you can use the developer mode or ADB-These are the ways that are suitable for experienced users and require caution.
Method 1: Through the Developer Mode
- Activate Developer Mode: Go to Settings โ About Phone and click on MIUI Version 7 times.
- Return to Settings โ Additional settings โ For developers.
- Find the option to turn off vibration when touching (or Haptic feedback) and activate it.
Method 2: ADB (for root users)
If you have root access, you can turn off the vibration completely using the command:
adb shell settings put system haptic_feedback_enabled 0To return the vibration, replace 0 with 1.
What to do if after ADB-The vibration commands didn't shut down?
โ ๏ธ Attention: Use ADB On devices with a locked bootloader (Xiaomi by default), these methods may not work without unlocking.
6. Frequent problems and solutions
Sometimes the vibration doesn't turn off even after all the manipulations, and let's look at the typical causes and ways of eliminating them:
- ๐ Sbagen firmware: On some versions MIUI 13 for the Redmi Note 11 and POCO X4 The vibration turns on itself after the reboot. Solution: Update the firmware or reset the keyboard settings in Settings. โ Annexes โ Application management โ keyboard โ Warehouse โ Clear the data.
- ๐ฎ Game mode interferes: B MIUI There's a separate vibration setting for the games. โ Game mode โ Vibration.
- ๐ Design conflict: Some themes from the Mi Theme Store redefine system sounds and vibrations.Try to bring back the standard theme.
- ๐ฑ Hardware malfunction: If the vibration is constantly running (even without pressing) - this may indicate damage to the vibromotor.
If none of these methods worked, try resetting all settings to factory settings (Settings โ About Phone โ Settings Reset).
๐ก
On HyperOS devices, the keyboard and system vibrations are set separately, and the system vibrations are not switched off, and the keyboard is not affected by the system vibration, and vice versa.
7. Alternative solutions: replacement of keyboard or firmware
If you have not managed to remove the vibration by standard methods, consider radical options:
- ๐ง Install another keyboard: For example, Fleksy or Chroom โ they don't use system vibration.
- ๐ฒ Reflash the device: Unofficial firmware (like LineageOS or Pixel Experience) often offers more flexible vibration settings. But this requires unlocking the bootloader and risks voiding the warranty.
- ๐ ๏ธ Turn off the vibrator physically: The last method is to disassemble the device and disconnect the vibrator motor, only for older models or if you don't plan on using vibration at all.
Warning: Installing custom firmware and disassembling the device can lead to loss of warranty and failure of the smartphone.
