Why keyboard vibration is annoying and how to turn it off
The typing response on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10S is a feature that is not popular with everyone: for some users, it creates tactile feedback and improves print accuracy, for others it becomes a source of constant irritation: distracts from thoughts, reduces battery life and can even provoke headaches with prolonged use.
In this article, weβll look at all the possible ways to disable vibration, from standard MIUI settings to hidden developer settings and third-party keyboard features. Itβs important to understand that on the Redmi Note 10S (mojito/sweet model), vibration can be controlled on three levels: system, keyboard and individual applications. We tested each method on MIUI 12.5-14 firmware and identified nuances that are not covered in the official guides.
If you've tried to turn off vibration through Settings β Sound, but it didn't work, don't rush to drop your phone to factory settings. Most likely, the problem lies in the conflict between system settings and keyboard settings. Next, you'll find step-by-step instructions with screenshots, a method comparison table, and answers to frequent questions, such as why the vibration returns after a reboot.
Method 1: Disabling vibration in MIUI system settings
The most obvious way is to use the built-in MIUI options. However, there are pitfalls: depending on the firmware version, menu items can be called differently, and some options are hidden. On the Redmi Note 10S with MIUI 13/14, the algorithm is as follows:
- Open Settings (the gear icon on the main screen).
- Go to the section Sound and vibration.
- Scroll down to the Vibration block and press Vibration when pressed.
- Transfer the slider to the off position or select the No Vibration option (if available).
β οΈ Note: On some versions MIUI This option may be called Tactile Feedback or Touch Vibration. If you don't find the right item, try searching by settings (the magnifying glass icon in the upper right corner).
Do not disturb mode is turned off (it can block changes)
Is the firmware updated to the latest version (vibration bugs are often patched)
Is a standard keyboard installed? MIUI (Third-party keyboards have their own settings)-->
If you've had the typing vibration after that, the problem is with the keyboard settings. Go to the next one.
Method 2: Vibration settings in a standard MIUI keyboard
The standard Xiaomi keyboard (MIUI Keyboard app) has separate vibration parameters that do not depend on system settings.
- Open any application to enter text (such as Messages or Notes).
- Tap the input field to make the keyboard appear.
- Press the badge. βοΈ Settings (usually located to the right of the space).
- Select keyboard settings β Tactile feedback.
- Turn off the Vibration slider when pressed.
π‘ Useful advice: If you have a version MIUI no Tactile feedback, try updating the keyboard via Google Play or resetting it to standard (keyboard settings) β Resetting settings).
| Method of disconnection | It's powered by MIUI 12.5. | It's working on MIUI 13/14. | Affects system vibration |
|---|---|---|---|
| System settings (Sound and vibration) | β Yes. | β Yes. | β Shuts down all vibration. |
| Settings of the MIUI keyboard | β Yes. | β Yes. | β Keyboard only. |
| Developer mode (window_haptic_feedback) | β οΈ Partially. | β Yes. | β May be reset after the update |

If you use a Gboard or other third-party keyboard, the MIUI system settings wonβt affect it. For those cases, read the next section.

Method 3: Turn off vibration in Gboard and other third-party keyboards
Redmi Note 10S users often install alternative keyboards such as Gboard, SwiftKey or Microsoft Keyboard, each with a separate vibration control, and consider the process using Gboard (the most popular Android keyboard):
- Open any application with an input field (such as Chrome or Telegram).
- Tap the text box to make the Gboard keyboard appear.
- Press the badge. βοΈ (settings) in the top panel of the keyboard.
- Select Settings β Sound and vibration.
- Turn off the Vibration slider when you press the keys.
β οΈ Note: In some versions of Gboard, this option may be called Haptic feedback or tactile response. If you don't find it, update the keyboard via Google Play - older versions may not have the option.
For other keyboards, the algorithm is similar:
- πΉ SwiftKey: Settings β Sound and vibration β Press vibration.
- πΉ Microsoft Keyboard: Settings β General. β Key vibrations.
- πΉ Samsung Keyboard (if installed): Settings β Vibration.
If after turning off the vibration is still felt, check whether the keyboard settings conflict with the system parameters MIUI. In this case, resetting the keyboard settings will help (see the next section).

To quickly switch between keyboards, hold the icon. π (globe) on the keyboard and select the one in the list.
Method 4: Reset keyboard settings and clear cache
Sometimes the vibration of typing is maintained because of a keyboard failure or update conflict, and in these cases, factory resets are helpful. MIUI:
- Go to Settings β Applications β Application Management.
- Find the MIUI Keyboard in the list and open its settings.
- Press Warehouse. β Clear the cache.
- Then select Resetting (if available).
For Gboard and other third-party keyboards:
- Open Settings β Applications β Application Management.
- Find the keyboard you want (like Gboard).
- Click Warehouse β Clear the cache and Clear the data.
- β οΈ Warning: Cleaning up the data will remove all user dictionaries and keyboard settings! After that, you will have to reconfigure the auto-replacement and sync the dictionary with your Google account (if you use it).
If the reset didnβt work, the problem could be in the systemβs vibration files, which can only help if you turn off the developer mode (see next section) or reset the phone completely to factory settings.
What if the reset didn't help?
Method 5: Turn off vibration through developer mode (for power users)
If standard methods don't work, you can use the hidden developer settings, which is suitable for MIUI 13/14 and allows you to turn off vibration at the system level, but you need to be careful - incorrect changes can lead to failures.
First, activate the Developer Mode:
- Go to Settings. β The phone.
- Find the MIUI version and click on it 7 times in a row (you will be notified of becoming a developer!).
- Return to the main Settings menu, and a new section for developers will appear.
Now turn off the vibration:
- Open the Settings. β For developers.
- Scroll down to the Drawing or Animation block (depending on the MIUI version).
Important: This is responsible for ALL haptic feedback in the system, including vibration when you press buttons in the menu and notifications. If you only need vibration for calls and notifications, you better use other methods.
β οΈ Attention: On some firmware MIUI When you update, the developer mode settings are reset, and if the vibration comes back after the update, you'll have to repeat the process again.
What to do if the vibration returns after resetting
One of the most common problems with the Redmi Note 10S is that it automatically turns on the vibration after a reboot or update, which is due to the MIUI, where some settings are reset when the system is reconfigured.
- π Turn off automatic keyboard update: Go to Google Play β Settings β Auto Update Apps and select Do Not Update Automatically for Gboard or Keyboard MIUI.
- π± Use Tasker or MacroDroid: These apps allow you to automatically turn off vibrations after a reboot. For example, in MacroDroid you can create a rule: β Loading the device β Action. β Change the system settings β Press vibration (Off.).
- π§ Check the optimizers: Apps like Security (Xiaomi's built-in antivirus) or Clean Master can reset settings. Turn them off or add a keyboard to exceptions.
If the problem persists, try rolling back the firmware to a more stable version of MIUI. For example, users note that the vibration is more stable on MIUI 12.5.7 than on MIUI 14. However, rollback requires unlocking the bootloader and can lead to data loss - do this only if other methods have not helped.

If the vibration turns on on on its own, it's either automatic keyboard updates or system optimizers. Turn them off first.
