Preparation: What to do before the layout of the rooms

Before proceeding to the map section, make sure that the basic conditions for the correct operation of the robot are met:

• 🔹 Update: Check the firmware version in Mi Home → Device → Settings → Software Update. Outdated versions often contain markup bugs.
• 📱 Up-to-date Mi Home: The app must be at least 6.0.100 (for Android/iOS). Older versions do not support multi-room markup.
• 📡 Stable Wi-Fi: The robot must be connected to a 2.4 GHz network (not 5 GHz!). With a weak signal, the card may or may not be saved.
• 🧹 Clean sensors: Wipe LiDAR lenses and optical sensors with a dry wipe - dust distorts the scan.

If the robot has already cleaned the map, but it turned out to be “smeared” or incomplete, reset it:

1. Open Mi Home, select a vacuum cleaner.
2. Go to the map → Settings of the map → Clear the map.
3. Start a new cleaning in Full Cleaning (not Zone!) mode.

Method 1: Manual marking of rooms in the Mi Home application

The most reliable method is to divide the map manually after the robot has built the complete diagram of the apartment.

1. Start a full cleaning: Select Full Cleaning mode and wait for the robot to go around the entire space.
2. Save the map: After cleaning is completed, the button Save the card will appear in Mi Home – press it.
3. Activate editing mode: Slip the pencil icon (or Edit the map) in the upper right corner.
4. Separate rooms: Press Add room. Finger around the boundaries of the first room (e.g., kitchen). The robot automatically suggests a name that can be changed. Repeat for all zones. Use the name "Corridor" or "Aisle" for the corridor.

Critical detail: If after saving the room "merge" back into one zone, check the server settings in Mi Home. Xiaomi robots are tied to the region - for Russia, choose the server Russia (MIR), not China (otherwise the markup functionality will be limited).

If the robot persists in driving into unwanted places, such as under the bed or to a cat's bowl, use virtual barriers.

Static virtual walls

Suitable for permanent restrictions (for example, the fencing of a baby cot):

1. At Mi Home, open the map.
2. Slip on the icon Add (plus in the mug) → Virtual wall.
3. Put your finger on the map and it will become a red barrier.
4. Set the wall height (by default 10 cm – this is enough for most obstacles).

Temporary exclusion zones

Use for one-time restrictions (for example, do not clean under the table during lunch):

1. From the map menu, select Add → Zone Prohibit.
2. Spend the area that needs to be excluded.
3. Set the time of action (for example, from 12:00 to 14:00).

⚠️ Warning: Virtual walls don't work on a scheduled cleaning schedule unless the robot is connected to Wi-Fi. It will ignore barriers offline!

Method 3: Automatic room recognition (for new models)

Xiaomi S7, S7 Pro Ultra and later, support AI- markup, the algorithm itself determines the boundaries of the rooms by furniture and doorways. To activate the function:

1. Make sure the robot updates the map after the last cleaning.
2. Go to the Settings of the map → AI- Markup.
3. Click Start Analysis and wait for processing (it will take 1-3 minutes).
4. Check the rooms offered – adjust the boundaries manually if necessary.

🔹 Limitations of AI- Markup:

• It works only in well-lit rooms (in the dark, accuracy drops).
• It does not recognize rooms without doors (such as a studio).
• It can be a mistake in the kitchen because of the large amount of furniture.

Cleaning schedule for rooms: how to set up

Once the rooms are marked, you can program the robot to clean only certain areas at a given time, such as the kitchen at 9:00 a.m. daily and the bedroom on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Instructions:

1. In Mi Home, open the map and tap the icon Schedule (clock).
2. Click Add Schedule → Select Rooms.
3. Check the desired areas (for example, “Kitchen” and “Corridor”).
4. Set up: 🕒 Time: Specify the hour and minutes (e.g. 09:00). 📅 Days: Choose the days of the week or set Daily. 🔄 Mode: Vacuum, Vacuum + Mop Only, or Intensive Cleaning. 🔋 Suction Level: Quiet, Balanced, Turbo.

2.The rooms merge into one zone

The reason: The robot did not detect clear boundaries (for example, an open doorway without a door).

• Add virtual walls in places of blurred borders.
• Use physical barriers (such as magnetic tape for robot vacuum cleaners).
• Restart the map construction from scratch.

3.The robot does not clean the selected room on a schedule

Reason: Time zone conflict or synchronization error.

Decision:

• Check if the schedule is overlapped by another task (e.g., general cleaning).
• Remove and re-create the schedule.
• Reboot the robot (hold the power button for 10 seconds).
