Xiaomi Vacuum Mop robots have evolved from simple dry cleaning devices to multifunctional gadgets with laser navigation, mop car wash and AI algorithms. But how do you know which generation of your model is the first (S5/S6), the second (STYJ/T7) or the latest (X10+/Ultra)?
The problem is that Xiaomi often releases single-model revisions with minimal external changes (like the Vacuum Mop 2 Pro and Vacuum Mop 2 Lite), and the names are easy to get confused. We've compiled 5 reliable ways to define a generation, from serial number analysis to hidden menus in the app, and you'll find a unique table with all-generation differences in technical parameters that even official dealers don't publish.
Method: Serial number and marking on the body
The most accurate method is to study the factory markings, which are applied to a sticker under the dust collector lid or to the bottom of a robot.
- 🔢 Model (Model): for example, STYJ02YM (It's a Vacuum Mop 2 Pro, or SDJQR05RR (X10+).
- 📅 Production Date (Made in): Month/Year in the Format MM/YYYY (for example, 03/2022).
- 🆔 Serial number (S/N): It starts with a letter prefix that encodes the plant (e.g. L is a plant in Nanjing, M is a plant in Zhongshan).

Method: External differences between generations
Visually, generations differ in 4 key elements:

If the case says "Mi Home" it's 100% 1st generation. Starting with the 2nd generation, Xiaomi uses the logo "Xiaomi Smart Home" without the letter "i".
3. Method: Functions in the Mi Home application
Launch the Mi Home app, select your robot and check the options available:

The suction can be checked experimentally:
- Put a sheet of A4 paper on the floor.
- Enable Max mode in the app.

5. Method: Accessories compatibility
The accessories from different generations are not interchangeable.

If you're trying to install an accessory from another generation, the robot will either not turn on or give an Error 12 error (sensor incompatibility). For example, the mop from the X10+ will not fit the Vacuum Mop 2 Pro because of the different locations of the magnets.

Frequent errors in determining a generation
Users are often confused:
- The Vacuum Mop S5 and Mijia 1C are the same device (1st generation), but under different brands (Xiaomi and Mijia).
