Do you want to show photos from your vacation on the big screen, run a mobile game on TV or stream a movie from your smartphone without unnecessary wires? Duplicating Xiaomi screen on your TV is a task that can be solved in 2-3 minutes, if you know the right way. The problem is that users often encounter connection errors, image delays or can not find the desired feature in the settings. This article will help avoid typical errors and choose the best method depending on your phone and TV model.
We tested all the current methods on Xiaomi 13 Pro, Redmi Note 12 and Mi TVs TV Q2 55" and Redmi Smart TV X50. It turned out that wireless broadcasting via Miracast works most stable on Xiaomi TVs 2022 and newer, while for older models (until 2020) it is more reliable to use it. HDMI-And it turns out that many users don't know about the built-in Quickcast feature. MIUI, which simplifies the process to two clicks.
1.Preparation: What to check before connecting
Before you try to connect your phone and TV, make sure both devices meet the minimum requirements, which will save you an hour of nerve if your Redmi 9A doesnβt support Miracast and your 2018 Mi TV 4A doesnβt receive Wi-Fi Direct.
Here are the prerequisites for successful screen duplication:
- π± Smartphone: any Xiaomi, Redmi or any other model POCO on MIUI 12 and above (for Miracast). HDMI-The connection is even suitable for Redmi. 4X, but you'll need an adapter.
- πΊ Television: Mi models TV/Redmi TV Miracast-enabled (usually) 2019 year and later) or port HDMI. For old TVs (up to) 2018 You may need to use the Mi prefix. TV Stick.
- π Network: Both devices must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network (for methods over a local area network) or be within a radius of 5 meters (for Wi-Fi Direct).
- π Charge: the phone should be at least 30% of the battery β broadcast screen greatly drains the battery.
If youβre not sure if your TV supports Miracast, check this out:
- On the TV remote, press Menu β Settings β Network and Access β Screen Mirror.
- If the option is active, your TV is ready for wireless connectivity.

Method 2: Wireless streaming via Miracast (fastest)
It's a native solution from Xiaomi that works without any extra apps, and the main advantage is that it has a minimal latency (about 50 ms), which is critical for gaming or watching videos, but there's a caveat: on phones with MIUI 14 and newer, the feature is hidden deeper than before.
Instructions for MIUI 14/15:
- Open your phone settings and go to Connections and Sharing β Broadcast.
- Turn on the Wireless Slider.
- In the list of available devices, select your TV (the name will be MiTV-type).
- Confirm the connection on both devices (on TV may appear code for pairing).
If the TV is not on the list:
- π Reboot both devices.
- πΆ Make sure your phoneβs Wi-Fi is on (even if youβre not connected to the network).
- π On the TV, go to Settings. β Screen mirroring β Update the list.
βοΈ Checking before Miracast connection
Xiaomi 2023 TVs (such as Mi TV Q2 65) have a feature called Fast Broadcast, which automatically selects the optimal protocol (Miracast or Wi-Fi Direct) depending on the phone model.
On the TV remote: Menu β Quick settings β Signal βTranslationβ (second from left)β οΈ Warning: When you stream through Miracast, the default sound comes from your phone. To redirect it to TV, open the notification panel on your smartphone and click Playback. β Television [name].

5. Method 4: Broadcasting Applications (Google Cast, ApowerMirror)
If the built-in features don't work or you need additional features (like streaming only video without a phone interface), third-party apps will help. We tested 5 popular services and selected the two most reliable ones.
Option 1: Google Cast (for YouTube, Netflix, MoviePoisk)

How to use:
- Make sure your phone and TV are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Open a supported app (e.g. YouTube).
- Slip on the Broadcast icon (usually in the upper right corner).
- Choose your TV from the list.
Option 2: ApowerMirror (Duplicate screen)
ApowerMirror allows you to broadcast the entire screen of the phone, including games, instant messengers and system menus (~300β½/month), but there is a free version with watermarks.
Instructions:
- Download ApowerMirror to your phone and computer (or use the web version on TV).
- Connect both devices to the same Wi-Fi network.
- On your phone, launch the app and select Mirror on TV.
- The scanner will find the TV, confirm the connection.
β οΈ Note: When using ApowerMirror on Xiaomi 2020 and older TVs, an artifact with a βtearedβ sound may occur. To correct this, turn off the hardware audio acceleration option in the application settings.

Limitations:
- β It is only supported on Mi TVs. TV 2021 and newer.
- β Delay. ~200 ms (not suitable for dynamic games).
7. Problem Solving: What to Do If an Image Is Not Broadcast
Even with the right settings, sometimes there are errors.-5 Problems and solutions based on Xiaomi support.
| Problem. | Possible cause | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| TV not visible on the list of devices | Miracast is disabled on TV or phone doesn't support protocol | On TV: Settings β Screen mirroring β Turn on. On your phone: upgrade MIUI to the latest version. |
| Image lagging or slowing down | Weak Wi-Fi signal or overloaded router | Switch the router to a 5GHz channel or connect via HDMI. |
| No TV sound. | The sound settings are lost when connected | On the phone: open the notification panel β Sound playback β TV. |
| Black screen on TV | Incompatible authorization or HDCP-mistake | On the phone: Settings β Screen β Screen resolution β 1080p. |
| The broadcast will stop in 5-10 minutes. | Energy saving turns off Wi-Fi | On the phone: Settings β Battery β Performance mode β No restrictions. |

90% of broadcast problems are solved by restarting your phone and TV or changing the type of connection (for example, from Miracast to Wi-Fi Direct).
8. Comparison of methods: which one to choose?
To make it easier for you to decide, we have compiled a table with the pros and cons of each method.
| Method | Delay. | Quality. | Difficulty | Better for you. |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Miracast | 50-100 ms | 1080p-4K | β β βββ | Movies, presentations, social networks |
| HDMI | 10-20 ms. | 4K@120Hz | β β β ββ | Games, high-resolution videos |
| Wi-Fi Direct | 100-150 ms | 1080p | β β βββ | View photos, videos without a router |
| Google Cast | 200-300 ms. | Depends on the app. | β ββββ | Streaming from YouTube, Netflix |
| Mi Home | 150-200 ms. | 1080p | β β βββ | Smart home, background broadcast |
For most users, Miracast is the best option, because it doesn't require any additional devices and it offers acceptable quality. If you want maximum stability (for example, for conferences in Zoom), choose HDMI. Google Cast is more convenient for streaming content from apps.
