The phone doesn't see it, doesn't catch the network, or constantly switches between cards. SIM-cards on Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO, including new models 2023-2026.
It is important to understand that the process can vary depending on the firmware version (MIUI 12/13/14 or HyperOS), the type of slot (hybrid or dedicated), and even the carrier. We will look at universal methods that work on 90% of devices, and also analyze common errors and how to fix them. If your phone does not see the second SIM after all the manipulations, there is a checklist at the end of the article to diagnose the problem.
Type check SIM-slot: hybrid or dedicated
Before you try to activate a second SIM, you need to understand which slot is installed in your Xiaomi, which depends on whether you can use two physical cards at the same time or you have to choose between a second SIM and a memory card.
Most modern models (Xiaomi 13/14, Redmi Note 12/13, POCO F5/X5) slot hybrid: this means that the tray has two slots, but one of them is combined with a microSD connector. In this case, you can use either two nano-SIM or one SIM + memory card at the same time. The exception is the flagship models like Xiaomi 14 Ultra or MIX Fold 3, where the slot is dedicated (three slots: two SIM + microSD).
- π How do you check the type of slot? Look at the tray for SIM-If you have two slots under nano-SIM and one under microSD, it's a hybrid slot.
- π± Models with a dedicated slot (2) SIM + microSD): Xiaomi 12S Ultra, 13 Pro, MIX 4, Black Shark 5 Pro.
- β οΈ In the hybrid slot, when you install the memory card, the second one is SIM-The card is automatically disabled (and vice versa).
If you have a hybrid slot and want to use two SIMs, make sure that the tray does not have a memory card. Also check if the cards are inserted correctly: the contacts should be facing down and the bevelled angle should match the angle on the tray.
Activation two SIM-cards via phone settings
If the slot supports two SIMs and the cards are installed correctly, we move to the software setting. SIM-The card is activated automatically after rebooting, but sometimes manual adjustment is required.
Instructions for MIUI 14 and HyperOS (new Xiaomi interface):
- Open Settings (the gear icon on the main screen).
- Go to section. SIM-Maps and mobile networks (or connections) β SIM-maps).
- Tap the second name. SIM-maps (usually marked as SIM 2 or Slot 2).
- Activate the switch Turn on SIM-card (if it is turned off).
- Choose the network type (recommended 4G/3G/2G (auto) for better coverage).
- Click Save and restart the phone.
If the second SIM is not on the list, check:

Setting priority SIM-call-cards and the Internet
Once you activate the second SIM, you need to set which one will be used by default for calls, SMS and mobile Internet, which is especially important if you have different rates on the cards (for example, one for unlimited calls, the other for cheap Internet).
How to set priorities:
- Go to Settings β SIM-cards and mobile networks.
- Select the Priority item SIM-Maps (or Call Settings in HyperOS).
- Specify the main one. SIM for: π Calls (by default). π¬ SMS (If you need notifications to a specific number). π Mobile data (the Internet will work only with selected data) SIM).
Save the changes.
Note that if you choose mobile internet on SIM 1, SIM 2 will not be able to use data at the same time (and vice versa), however, calls and SMS will work on both cards regardless.
What to do if priority settings are not maintained?
Problems with the second SIM-map: causes and solutions
If the second SIM-The map is not detected or is not caught by the network, and the reasons may be hardware or software.

- Go to Settings. β SIM-maps and mobile networks.
- Select Network Settings Reset (or Wi-Fi, Mobile Network, and Bluetooth Reset in HyperOS).
- Confirm the action and restart the phone.

Features of customization on new models (HyperOS)
With the release of HyperOS (replacing MIUI on 2026 devices), the settings interface has changed, and some menu items have moved. If you have a Xiaomi 14, Redmi Note 13 or another model with HyperOS, follow this instruction:
How to turn on the second SIM in HyperOS:
- Open Settings and go to the Connections section.
- Choose. SIM-cards (two-card icon).
- Slip on SIM 2 and activate the switch.
- In Network Settings, select your preferred network type (e.g. 5G/4G/3G/2G).
- To set priorities, go to Connections β A challenge β Call settings β Priority SIM-map.

- Reset the device.
