Xiaomi Redmi 8 is still a popular budget smartphone, but many users are faced with the problem of how to set up automatic re-dialing when the subscriber is busy or not responding? Unlike the old "calls" with the auto dial button, in MIUI this feature is hidden deep in the settings - or not at all in the standard interface.
In this article, you’ll find 3 working ways to enable auto dialing on the Redmi 8 (including the Redmi 8A and Redmi 8 Pro models), and why the feature may not work on some firmware. We’ve tested all methods on MIUI 12.5, MIUI 13, and MIUI 14 – ensuring that at least one option works on your device.
What is an auto dialer and why you need it on Xiaomi
Auto dial (or automatic re-dial) is a function that calls back to a subscriber on its own if:
- 📞 Line is busy (signal "Subscriber temporarily unavailable")
- 🕒 No one picks up the phone (the call is dropped after the beeps)
- 📵 Communications are interrupted due to poor network signal
On Xiaomi Redmi 8, this option is useful in several cases:
- 🏢 When you call a government agency or a call center with permanent employment.
- 🚗 If the connection is unstable (for example, on the subway or on the highway).
- 💼 For business users who need to call the customer on the first attempt.
However, MIUI does not have a separate AutoCall button in the phone menu, but has been replaced by an improved re-query algorithm that works through call settings, and some firmware also has the function disabled by default due to battery savings.
Method 1: Enabling Auto dialer via standard MIUI settings
The easiest method is to activate the feature in the phone's menu. It works on MIUI 11 and later, but the path to settings may vary depending on the firmware version.
Instructions:
- Open the Phone app (the tube icon on the home screen).
- Click on the three dots in the upper right corner → select Settings.
- Go to the Call Settings section (or additionally on older versions).
- Find Auto Repeat (may be called Repeat Call or AutoDial).
- Activate the slider and set the re-set interval (usually 5 to 30 seconds).
If Auto Repeat is not on the menu, your firmware does not support this feature at the system level, in which case move to Method 2.

Method 2: Use the USSD code to activate an auto dialer
On some versions MIUI (Especially on Redmi 8 with firmware for Russia, the auto dial is hidden and turned on through secret USSD-This method works independently of the firmware version, but requires the input of a special code.
How to turn on:
- Open the Phone app and go to the Keyboard tab.
- Enter the combination: ##4636## (some firmware may require ##83781###).
- In the menu that opens, select Phone Information (or Phone Information).
- Scroll down to the Turn on Auto-redial block and activate it.
- Save the settings and restart the phone.
⚠️ Attention: After input USSD-If the menu doesn't open, your firmware is blocking the engineering commands.

Method 3: Install a third-party application for auto dialing
If the first two methods didn't work, the only reliable option is to install a special application from Google Play, and we tested 5 popular programs and selected the best two:

How to set up AutoRedial:
- Download the app from Google Play.
- Open it and give access to Calls and Contacts.
- Install the main menu: 🔄 Repeat dial interval (recommended 10-15 seconds). 📵 Max. number of attempts (optimally - 5-7). 🔔 Vibration on successful dial-up (so as not to miss the connection).
Turn on the auto dialer.
⚠️ Note: Some auto dialing applications may conflict with MIUI Optimizations (built-in optimization Xiaomi). If the feature doesn't work after installation, add the program to Battery Excludions:
- Go to Settings → Applications → Application Management.
- Find AutoRedial in the list.
- Select Battery Limitations → No restrictions.
- Enable AutoRun and Secondary Start.

If the auto dialer is too frequent and spends money, set a time limit in the application, for example, repeat the dial only from 9:00 to 21:00 so as not to disturb the subscriber at night.

Important: Some MIUI firmware for Russia (e.g. MIUI RU) has the auto dialer disabled at the core level, in which case only the flashing to the global or European version of the software will help.
How to disable auto dial on Xiaomi Redmi 8
If the feature is no longer needed or interferes (e.g., spends money on repeat calls), it can be deactivated by:
For the standard MIUI auto dialer:
- Go to the phone → Settings → Call settings.
- Find the Auto Repeat dial and turn off the slider.
For USSD-activation:
- Enter the code ##4636##.
- In the Phone Information menu, find Turn off auto-redial.
For third-party applications:
- Open the program (for example, AutoRedial).
- Turn off the main switch or remove the application.
⚠️ Warning: If after disabling the auto dial calls still repeat, check:
- 📱 Settings SIM-Cards (possibly the operator has activated a paid service).
- 🔄 Background processes in Settings → Annexes → Application management.
- 📲 Viruses (some Trojans mimic auto dialing for fraud).
Alternative ways to reach a busy customer
If the auto dialer does not help or you do not want to configure it, use these methods:
- 📞 Call from another number: Use the second number SIM-Maps or online services like Zadarma or SipNet.
- ⏱ Delayed call: In MIUI Call reminder (in the contact menu).
- 💬 SMS Call back: Faster than waiting for the line to be released.
- 📧 Messengers: Write to WhatsApp, Telegram or Viber – many respond faster than on the phone.
For business users, Bitrix24 or Amocrm service with a callback function is suitable - the client chooses a convenient time for communication.

If the subscriber is constantly busy, try calling at off-peak hours: from 8:00 to 9:00 or from 13:00 to 14:00. At this time, the load on the network is minimal, and the chance of calling is higher.
