You blocked a harassing subscriber on your Xiaomi Redmi, but now you wonder if he called you after that? Unlike iPhone or pure Android, MIUI does not behave obvious: it not only hides notifications, but also modifies the call log. In this article, we will examine how to find out if a locked number on Redmi smartphones, including Redmi Note 12, Redmi 10 and others on MIUI 13/14.
Spoiler: You won't see locked numbers in the call log with standard MIUI tools -- it automatically filters them. But there are workarounds, from analyzing system logs to using third-party applications. We tested all methods on current firmware versions and we eliminated those that stopped working after Xiaomi's security updates.
Why MIUI is hiding calls from blocked numbers
The lock function in MIUI is more aggressive than in Android stock. When you add a number to a blacklist through Contacts โ Lock or Phone โ Settings โ Lock numbers, the system:
- ๐ต Blocks incoming calls at the core level (not reaching the interface).
- ๐ฑ Hiding notifications of missed calls.
- ๐๏ธ Remove entries from the call log (unlike iOS, where they remain gray).
- ๐ Does not save voice messages from blocked subscribers.
This logic is explained by Xiaomiโs policy of protecting users from spam: if a number is blocked, it should not distract the owner of the device in any way, but this creates a problem โ it is impossible to track whether a subscriber tried to reach a call in an important situation (for example, a colleague at work or a relative whose number you blocked by mistake).
Method 1: Verification through system logs (root only)
If your Redmi has root rights, you can analyze the low-level logs of the system, where all incoming calls are recorded, including those blocked.
- Install the Logcat Extreme or MatLog app from Google Play.
- Start recording logs with a filter for the keyword TelephonyManager.
- Ask someone to call you from a locked number.
- Stop the recording and find the lines with RINGING or INCOMING_CALL โ There's a number.
โ ๏ธ Note: Without root rights, this method will not work โ MIUI Restricts access to logs for regular users, and note that logs are reset once the device is restarted.
Install a log application (MatLog, Logcat Extreme)
Enable debugging over USB in the developer settings
Create a filter using "TelephonyManager" or "CallLog"
Ask for a test call from a locked number
Save logs to a file for analysis-->
Method 2: Using third-party applications for calls
Some call apps (like Truecaller or Call Recorder) have their own call log, independent of the system, and if you installed one before locking the number, the chances of seeing a missed call are higher.
Instructions:
- Install Truecaller and register.
- Go to the Log of calls inside the application.
- Activate the filter All calls (including blocked calls).
- Check the list โ sometimes it shows numbers hidden in a standard log.
๐น Restriction: Truecaller only shows blocked calls if:
- ๐ฑ The application was installed before the number was blocked.
- ๐ The number was not blocked through MIUI (Only through Truecaller).
- ๐ก You have an active Internet connection (data synced to the cloud).
๐ก
If you block numbers often, install Truecaller in advance โ it keeps a parallel log that MIUI doesnโt clean.
Method 3: Checking through a communications operator
The most reliable, but also the longest, method is to request call detail from your mobile operator, and unlike MIUI, operators record all incoming calls, including those that are blocked.
| Operator. | Method of requesting | Time limit for granting | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| MTS | Personal Account โ Services โ Details | 1-3 days | Free (for the last 3 days) |
| Beeline | Call *110*9# or via the app | 1 hour to day | 30โ100 โฝ (period-dependent) |
| MegaFon | USSD *-105*09# or megafon.ru | Up to 24 hours. | Free (for 7 days) |
| Tele2. | Personal Cabinet โ History of calls | Instantly (online) | Free of charge. |
โ ๏ธ Note: Details show only successful connections (if the call lasts at least 1 second); if the caller immediately resets the call, it may not show up; and operators store data for a limited time (usually 3-6 months).
Method 4: Temporary Unlocking of the Number
If you are critically important to know whether a particular subscriber called, you can:
- Unlock the number through Contacts โ Block.
- Wait 1-2 days (if the subscriber calls again, the call will appear in the log).
- Lock the number again if there were no calls.
๐น nuance: MIUI It doesn't keep a lock history, so if you've locked a number a long time ago, the old calls won't appear in the log once you've unlocked them.
What to do if the number is blocked through the operator?
Method 5: Analyze notifications (if enabled)
In rare cases, if you have:
- ๐ Block notifications are included in the settings MIUI (Settings โ Notifications โ Number locking).
- ๐ Notification folder in the curtain was not cleared.
- ๐ Phone not rebooted (notifications reset).
...then the notification history may have a record of the form: "Call blocking from [number]."
How to check:
- Open the notification curtain and run down to the end.
- Press three points (โฎ) โ History of notifications.
- Look for notifications from the Phone or Contacts app.
โ ๏ธ Attention: Starting with MIUI 14 The notification history is stored for a maximum of 24 hours. If more time has passed, the data will be lost.
What to do if none of the methods worked
If you have exhausted all the methods, but did not find out whether the blocked subscriber called, radical measures remain:
- ๐ Reset network settings (Settings) โ SIM-maps and mobile networks โ Resetting settings. Sometimes this resets the lock list (but not guaranteed).
- ๐ฑ Install custom firmware (e.g. Pixel Experience) where locking works differently.Risk: loss of warranty and possible bugs.
- ๐ ๏ธ Contact Xiaomi Service Center to extract call logs (confirmation of ownership of the device is required).
๐น Tip: If the situation recurs frequently, consider using the second one. SIM-Addresses (e.g., through Google Voice or a virtual number) for important contacts, so you can block spam on your main number without missing an important call.
๐ก
On Xiaomi Redmi smartphones, there is no legal way to see blocked calls in a log - this is a MIUI restriction. All working methods require either root rights or operator involvement.
