Xiaomi’s modern smartphones and Mi Home devices are using wireless technology to transmit data. However, over time, the list of associated gadgets is becoming “digital garbage”: old headphones, lost fitness bracelets or forgotten speakers continue to hang in the system’s memory, not only preventing you from quickly finding the right device, but can cause Bluetooth module malfunctions, slow down the search for new devices or even lead to spontaneous connections.
The process of clearing the list on MIUI and the new HyperOS may be different from standard Android, as manufacturers often hide some settings deep in the menu or change the logic of the interface. In this article, we will discuss all the current ways to delete profiles, including hidden functions of the engineering menu and forced cache reset, which is necessary if the usual deletion does not work.
Standard removal through Bluetooth settings
The most obvious and safe method is to use a regular operating system interface, which is suitable for 95% of users who just want to remove unnecessary gadgets from the list. The settings interface on Xiaomi is quite logical, but has its own features depending on the firmware version.
First, you need to activate the wireless module. Go to Settings → Bluetooth and make sure that the slider is activated. The list that opens will show all the gadgets your phone has ever connected to. Find the unnecessary device and click on the arrow to the right of its name or hold your finger on the device name to call the context menu.
In the settings window that opens, select the option "Disable" or "Forget device." The system will request confirmation of action, since after that all the encryption keys and settings will be permanently deleted. Importantly, if the device is active right now, first break the connection, and then delete the profile.
- 🔹 Click on the gear next to the device name to access details.
- 🔹 Select the "Unpair" option at the bottom of the screen.
- 🔹 Confirm the action in the pop-up dialog window.
- 🔹 Reboot your smartphone to apply changes.
⚠️ Note: After removing the device will have to re-enter PIN-code or pairing if you want to connect it in the future. Make sure you remove the right gadget.
☑️ Pre-deletion check
Remove from the My Devices menu in MIUI and HyperOS
Xiaomi’s shells have a separate system partition that aggregates information about all connected gadgets, including wearable electronics and audio accessories, which is especially effective when the device is not displayed on the standard Bluetooth list or hung in the “Connected” status but does not respond.
Go to Settings → Connected Devices (or simply “My Devices” in older versions) and display more detailed information about each device, including battery level and firmware version. Select a problem gadget from the list. In the menu that opens, find a button with the image of the trash can or item “Delete the device”.
If standard deletion doesn’t work and the button is inactive, try first disabling the Auto Connection feature in the same menu. Sometimes a system bug blocks the deletion of an active profile. Disabling autorun will break the background link, after which the profile will become available for deletion.
💡
If the removal button is grey, try temporarily switching the phone to flight mode and then turning on Bluetooth again – this will often unlock the control interface.
In some cases, especially with Mijia smart home devices, the profile may be duplicated.Check if the device is left in the Mi Home app. deleting from there also clears the system pairing cache.
Cleaning up Bluetooth cache and resetting network settings
There are situations where the device is removed visually, but the system continues to believe it is connected or display errors, this indicates corruption (damage) of system files or overflow of the cache memory of the module, in which case deeper intervention in the operation of services is required.
The first step is to clean up the data of the Bluetooth system application. Go to Settings → Annexes → All applications. In the upper right corner, click on three dots and select "Show system processes." Find "Bluetooth" (or "Bluetooth"). MIDI Service. Go inside and press "Clean» → «Cleaning All Data (Clear All Data).
The second, more radical method is resetting the network settings, which will return all network settings (Wi-Fi, mobile Internet, Bluetooth) to factory values, and your personal files, photos, and contacts will not be affected, but all stored Wi-Fi passwords and Bluetooth keys will be erased.
| Action. | The way is on the menu | The result |
|---|---|---|
| Clearing the cache | Applications → Bluetooth → Memory | Deletion of temporary files |
| Resetting settings | Settings → Connection and Sharing | Complete reset of network profiles |
| Restart of service | Shutdown/Enablement of air mode | Rebooting the communication module |
| Hard Reset | Recovery Mode | Complete reset of the device |

Use of engineering menu and debugging
For advanced users who are faced with indefinable "ghost" devices, there are debugging tools. The engineering menu allows you to control modules at a low level, bypassing the graphical interface of the shell.
To enter the test menu, open the Phone app and dial the code ##6484## (to CIT-In the Bluetooth Test section, you can force the scanning to stop or reset the module state. Be careful: changing unknown parameters can lead to unstable communication.
An alternative way for the experienced is to use a command via ADB (Android Debug Bridge), by connecting the phone to a computer with USB debugging enabled, you can perform a command to force clear the list of paired devices, which requires installing drivers and basic command line knowledge.
adb shell settings delete global bluetooth_adapter_nameUsing third-party apps from Google Play, such as "Bluetooth Auto Connect" or "Bluetooth Scanner," can also help identify and remove hidden profiles that the standard system doesn't see. These apps often have extended Bluetooth API access rights.
Problems with removing smart home devices
Xiaomi Smart Home devices (lamps, sockets, sensors) often create their own pairing profiles that are not always correctly deleted via the standard Bluetooth menu, which is because they use Zigbee or Mesh protocols that are encrypted separately.
If the smart lamp or outlet is not removed, first reset the device itself. This is usually done by quickly turning on and off the power 5 times in a row (for lamps) or by pressing a button on the case (for sockets and sensors). After reset, the gadget will go into search mode, and the old profile on the phone will become inactive, which will allow you to remove it.
Also check the Mi Home app. Removing the device from the list of gadgets in the app automatically triggers the Bluetooth profile cleanup script. If that doesn't happen, try temporarily disabling permissions for the Mi Home app for geolocation and Bluetooth access, then turning them back on.
⚠️ Note: Do not remove system services with names like «BLE Scanner" or "Mi Service Framework" through app settings. This can disrupt the entire smartphone and require flashing.
