You try to show pictures from your vacation on the big screen, run a presentation for colleagues or just watch a movie from a laptop on Xiaomi TV, but instead of a picture you see a black screen or a connection error? The problem is familiar to many — even modern TVs with Smart TVs do not always automatically determine the source of the signal, the reason for this may be outdated graphics card drivers, incompatible wireless transmission protocols or banal settings of screen resolutions.
In this article, we will analyze all the current methods of broadcasting - from the classical to the traditional. - On Xiaomi TV, go to Settings → Connection & Sharing → Wireless Display (or Miracast).
- On your laptop, press Win + K (or Win + P → Connect to a wireless display).
- In the list of available devices, select your TV (the name will be in MiTV format).

3. Wi-Fi Direct: Miracast alternative for older models
If your Xiaomi TV doesn’t support Miracast (such as Mi TV 3 or Mi Box S), you can use Wi-Fi Direct, which creates a direct network between devices, but requires additional settings:
- 📱 On TV: Settings → Wi-Fi → Wi-Fi Direct (or settings) → Connection → Wi-Fi Direct).
- 💻 On a laptop: turn on the Mobile hotspot (Win) + I → Network and Internet → Mobile hotspot and connect the TV to the network.
- 🔄 Once connected, use programs like ApowerMirror or LetsView to broadcast the screen.

The program side is the only way to stream the screen on Xiaomi TV if Miracast is not supported hardware (for example, on Mi TV 2 2016).
Problems and Solutions: Why Xiaomi TV Can't See Laptop
Even with the right settings, the connection may not work, and here are the most common errors and their solutions:
- 🔴 Error "Device does not support Miracast": Update the Wi-Fi adapter driver on your laptop (download from the manufacturer's website, not through Windows Update). AX200 Driver version not lower than 22.150.0.
