Do you want to stream a video with Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 to the big screen, but donโt know how to do it without losing quality? Or are you trying to show photos with the POCO X5 Pro on an old TV without Smart TV? In this article, we will discuss all the current ways to display screens from Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO phones to TVs of different brands โ from modern Xiaomi TVs to outdated Samsung or LG models of 2015.
It is important to understand that the method of connection depends on three key factors:
- The model of your smartphone (whether it supports Miracast or Wi-Fi Direct)
- Type of TV (is there a Smart TV in it) TV, HDMI-port, USB-C).
- Connection quality (whether you need minimal latency for games or enough movie streaming)
We tested all the ways on Xiaomi 13 Ultra, Redmi Note 11 Pro+ and POCO F4 phones with Xiaomi Mi TV Q2 55, Samsung QLED Q60B and LG 43UK6200.
1. Wireless broadcast on Miracast (without router)
Miracast is the most versatile method for modern Xiaomi smartphones and smart TVs. It works without the Internet and does not require connection to the same Wi-Fi network. The main condition: both devices must support Miracast technology (it is built into Android 4.2+ and most TVs after 2014).
How do you check for support on your TV? Go to your network settings and look for items like:
- ๐ Screen Mirroring by Samsung)
- ๐ Wi-Fi Direct or Miracast (WEB LG, Sony)
- ๐ Wireless display (at Xiaomi) TV)
Instructions for the smartphone:
- Open Settings โ Connection and Sharing โ Screen Broadcast.
- Turn on device search.
- Choose the name of your TV from the list.
- Confirm the connection on both devices (may be required) PIN-code).
Turn on Wi-Fi on your phone
Activate Screen Mirroring on TV
Ensure that the distance between the devices is โค 5 meters
Charge your phone โฅ 30% (broadcasting severely drains the battery)
-->
โ ๏ธ Note: Some Redmi models (e.g. Redmi) 9A) The broadcast function is hidden. To enable it, go to Settings. โ The phone. โ Version. MIUI And then you tap 7 times on the core line, and then you'll see the Lab item on the menu. โ Wireless display.
2. Connect via Wi-Fi Direct or Mi Share
If your TV doesnโt support Miracast but it does have Wi-Fi Direct, you can use Xiaomiโs proprietary Mi Share technology (formerly Mi Drop), which is suitable for transferring photos, videos and presentations, but not for full-screen duplication.
How to set up:
- ๐ฑ On the phone: Settings โ Connection and sharing โ Mi Share โ turn on the appearance.
- ๐บ On TV: Go to Network Settings โ Wi-Fi Direct and select your smartphone.
- ๐ Confirm the pairing on both devices.
- ๐ค You can now send files directly through the Share in Gallery or File Manager menu.
Advantages of the method:
- โ It works even on older Android TVs. TV 5.0+.
- โ No delay in file transfers (unlike streaming).
- โ Supports files up to 2GB (Mi Share Limitation).
What formats does Mi Share support?
To fully stream the screen over Wi-Fi Direct, youโll need a third-party app, such as ApowerMirror or TeamViewer QuickSupport, but they add a 100-300ms latency, which is critical for gaming.
3.Use of HDMI-adapter (for older ones) TV)
If your Released TV is not Smart TV-enabled before 2015, the only reliable way is to wired HDMI, which requires a USB-C โ HDMI adapter (for new smartphones) or a Micro-USB โ HDMI (for older Redmi 4X, Redmi Note 3 models).
Step-by-step:
- Buy a certified adapter (we recommend Xiaomi USB-C to HDMI or Baseus). Cheap non-certified adapters may not transmit sound.
- Connect the adapter to the phone and HDMI-cable to the TV (the port is usually signed) HDMI 1/ARC).
- On the TV, select the signal source: press Source or Input on the remote and select the appropriate one. HDMI-port.
- On the phone may appear a notification "Connected external display" - confirm the duplicate screen.
| Model phone | Adapter type | Max, permission. | Sound support |
|---|---|---|---|
| Xiaomi 13/13 Pro | USB-C โ HDMI 2.0 | 4K @ 60 Hz | Yeah (Dolby Atmos) |
| Redmi Note 12 Pro+ | USB-C โ HDMI 1.4 | 1080p @ 60 Hz | Yeah (stereo) |
| POCO X3 Pro | USB-C โ HDMI 2.0 | 1440p @ 30 Hz | Yes (only via chip adapter) |
| Redmi 9C | Micro-USB โ HDMI (MHL) | 720p @ 30 Hz | No (needs separate audio output) |
โ ๏ธ Note: On phones with MediaTek Helio G (e.g. Redmi) 10A) It may not work with the sound output through HDMI. Use Bluetooth headphones or 3.5mm audio cables.

If the image on the TV is cropped, go to Screen Settings โ Resolution on the phone and select 16:9 or 4:3 manually.
4. USB-cable: direct access to modern smart TV
Many people donโt know, but modern Smart TVs (especially Xiaomi Mi TV, Samsung QLED 2020+) support direct USB-C connection. This method provides minimal latency (20-50 ms) and is suitable for gaming or watching high-resolution video.
What you need:
- ๐ Cable USB-C โ USB-C (Xiaomi 12T, POCO F5).
- ๐ adapter USB-A โ USB-C (if TV only USB-A port).
- ๐ฑ Supported phone USB 3.1+ (check the characteristics).
How to connect:
- Insert the cable into the phone and into USB-TV port (usually signed) USB 3.0 or SS).
- On the TV, select the USB or Media Player source.
- A notification will appear on the phone - allow access to the data.
- In the TV menu, select the "Connect as an external display" mode.
Advantages over HDMI:
- โก Faster (no signal conversion).
- ๐ Charges the phone (if the port is used) TV giveaway โฅ 10W).
- ๐ฎ Supports gamepads (you can play Call of Duty Mobile on the big screen).
๐ก
USB-C connectivity is the best choice for gamers: the latency is 5-10 times less than Miracast.
5. Streaming apps (YouTube, Netflix, DLNA)
If you donโt need to duplicate the entire screen, but only stream videos from apps, use the built-in streaming features:
- ๐ฅ YouTube: Click on the Translation icon (top right corner of the video) and select the TV.
- ๐ฟ Netflix/Disney+: In the play menu there is a button "Cast".
- ๐ฑ Xiaomi Gallery: Open the photo โ "Share" โ "Broadcast on TV".
To broadcast local files (movies, music) the DLNA protocol is suitable.
- Install the BubbleUPnP or LocalCast app on your phone.
- Turn it on. DLNA-server on the TV (in network settings).
- In the application, select a file and click "Play on..." by specifying your TV.
Limitations of the method:
- โ Not all video formats are supported (for example, the video formats are not supported, MKV s AC3 may not reproduce).
- โ Sound delay up to 500 ms (critical for movies).
- โ You can not broadcast the screen of games or social networks.
Typical problems and their solutions
