Compatibility and preparation for connection
Xiaomi Mi TV 4 series (including Mi TV 4A, Mi TV 4S, Mi TV 4X and Mi TV 4 Pro) supports several ways of syncing with smartphones - both wired and wireless. The choice of method depends on the purpose of the connection: broadcasting the screen for games, watching photos / videos, using the TV as a monitor or duplication of notifications.
Before you start, check:
- π± Version. Android/iOS On the phone: Miracast requires Android 4.2+ iOS 11+ (restrictively).
- πΊ TV firmware: Update the Mi TV Up to the latest version through Settings β On TV. β Update of the PO.
- π Ports and adapters: cables will be required for wired connection HDMI (Type-C/USB-C β HDMI for modern smartphones, or USB-A β USB-C.
If you plan to stream content from Netflix, YouTube or Disney+, Note: Some apps block Miracast image output due to protection DRM. In such cases, it is better to use HDMI or embedded TV applications.
Method 1: Wireless Wi-Fi (Miracast) Connection
Miracast technology allows you to duplicate the screen of the smartphone on Xiaomi Mi TV 4 wirelessly but with a delay of up to 100ms - that's enough for video, but not for dynamic games.Suitable for Android and Windows devices (on iPhone only works with restrictions via AirPlay, if the TV supports Apple) TV).
Instructions for Android:
- On TV: open Settings β Connection and Sharing β Wireless display.
- On your phone: go to Settings β Connected Devices β Wireless Display (the item name may vary: Transmit, Screen Mirroring or Smart View).

Method 2: Wired connection via HDMI
The most stable method with minimal latency (up to 20 ms) is ideal for gaming, watching movies in 4K HDR or working with graphics applications. For modern smartphones (Xiaomi 12/13/14, Redmi Note 11/12) you will need a USB-C β HDMI adapter with DisplayPort Alt Mode support.
Step-by-step:
- Connect the adapter to the phone and the HDMI cable to the HDMI port 1/2 on the back of the Mi TV 4.
- On the TV, select the signal source: on the remote, press Input (or Source) and select HDMI 1/2.
- On the phone in the notification bar will appear the option to Transfer the image β select Duplicate or Expand.
| adapter | Max, permission. | Support for HDR | Price (2026) |
|---|---|---|---|
| USB-C β HDMI (passive) | 1080p@60Hz | β No. | 300 β½ |
| USB-C β HDMI (active, with a chip) | 4K@30Hz | β οΈ Partially. | from 1,200 β½ |
| USB-C β HDMI 2.1 | 4K@60Hz | β Yes. | 2,500 β½ |

- Connect your phone and TV with a cable (use USB 2.0/3.0 port on Mi TV 4).
- On the phone, select the connection mode: in the notification bar tap on Charge via USB β File Transfer (MTP).
- On the TV, open the Explorer or Media Center application - the device will appear as a removable drive.

- π The phone will discharge faster (up to 1% per minute when the data is transmitted).
- π Files from DRM-Security (for example, downloaded from Netflix) will not open.
Method 4: Broadcasting through apps (Google Cast, Mi Home)
For streaming content from specific applications (YouTube, Twitch, Google Photos), it is more convenient to use the protocols Google Cast or Mi Home. Unlike Miracast, it only broadcasts content, not the entire screen, which saves battery life.

Solving Connection Problems
If the TV canβt see the phone or the broadcast is interrupted, check the following points:
| Problem. | Probable cause | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| The TV is not displayed in the list of devices | Different Wi-Fi networks | Connect both devices to the same 2.4 GHz network (not 5 GHz) |
| Image delay (lag) | Weak Wi-Fi signal | Use a wired connection or zoom in on the router |
| No sound at HDMI. | Outdated firmware | Upgrade TV to MIUI TV 3.0+ |
| Black Screen at Miracast | Incompatible codec | Change the screen resolution of the phone to 720p |
To diagnose network problems on Mi TV 4, go to Settings β Network β Network Diagnostics. If the ping is greater than 100 ms, try reconnecting to the router or changing the Wi-Fi channel to 6 or 11 (less loaded).

For stable Wi-Fi broadcasting, use a router that supports 802.11ac (5GHz) or connect your TV to the network via an Ethernet cable.
