The AutoDial feature on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 allows you to automatically re-attempt the connection if the subscriber is busy or not responding, which is especially useful for business calls, important conversations or when you need to urgently call your relatives. However, standard MIUI settings do not always offer this option out of the box β it needs to be activated through hidden menus or third-party applications.
In this article, weβll look at all the ways you can set up an auto dial on the Redmi Note 9 (including the Note 9 Pro and Note 9S) with MIUI 12/13/14 firmware in mind. Youβll learn how to enable the feature through the engineering menu, which apps are reliable, and how to avoid common bugs that may cause the auto dial to fail. Weβve tested all methods on current versions of Android (10β13) and prepared a compatibility table.
1 What is an Auto dialer and why is it needed on Xiaomi
Auto dial (or auto call replay) is a function that automatically calls back to a subscriber if:
- π Line occupied (signal occupied")
- π The customer has dropped a challenge or has not responded
- π΅ No network (temporarily unavailable)
The Redmi Note 9 doesnβt have this feature as obvious as Samsung or iPhone phones. Xiaomiβs standard phone app doesnβt have a separate auto dial switch, but it needs to be activated via an engineering menu or install additional programs, and itβs important to understand that the auto dialer only works for outgoing calls and doesnβt affect incoming calls.
Main use cases:
- πΌ Business etiquette: Call the customer again in 30 to 60 seconds if they donβt respond.
- π¨ Emergency situations: call to taxi service, ambulance or relatives.
- π‘ Poor network coverage: Automatic retry if communication is interrupted.
Method 1: Enabling Auto dial through the engineering menu (without root)
The most reliable method is to activate hidden settings via the Engineering Mode, which works on all versions of the Redmi Note 9 regardless of the firmware, but requires caution: improper changes can disrupt the communication module.
Instructions:
- Open the Phone app and type the combination: ##4636## Some firmware may require a call keyboard input (not in the dial bar!).
- In the menu that opens, select Phone Information (or Phone Information).
- Scroll down to the Set Auto Redial (or Auto dial).
- Set Enabled and set the parameters: π Redial Count β number of attempts (recommended 3-5). β±οΈ Redial Interval β the interval between attempts (optimally 10β30 seconds).
Save the settings and restart the phone.
Check the battery power (minimum 30%)
Record the current network settings (APN, network mode)
Do not interrupt the setup process
Reboot your phone after the changes-->
If there is no Auto Redial item in the engineering menu, then your firmware does not support it. In this case, try the methods 3 or 4 from this article.
β οΈ Note: Do not change other options in the engineering menu, especially in Band Selection or Network Type sections!
Method 2: Use of the AutoCall (without root) application
If the engineering menu didn't work, install a third-party app. We tested 5 popular programs and selected the two most stable ones for the Redmi Note 9:
| Annex | Ratings. | Pluses | Cons | Reference |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Auto Redial | 4.7 β | Simple interface, works without root, customizable interval | Advertising in the free version, sometimes works with a delay | Google Play |
| Redial Pro | 4.5 β | Support for blacklist, call log, work in the background | The paid version (199) β½), may conflict with MIUI | Google Play |
| Call Auto Redial | 4.3 β | Free, minimalist design | No Russian language, limited settings | Google Play |
Instructions for setting up Auto Redial:
- Install the app from Google Play.
- Open it and grant permissions to Calls and Call Log.
- In the main menu, activate the Enable Auto Redial switch.
- Set up the parameters: π’ Number of retries β number of attempts (maximum 10). β²οΈ Delay between retries β interval (recommended 15-45 seconds). π΅ Stop on answer β stop on response.

If the auto dial doesnβt work, check if the battery optimization is blocking it. Go to Settings β Battery β Battery Optimization, find the app and select Unlimited.
Method 3: Auto dial through settings SIM-Cards (for some operators)
Some mobile operators (such as MTS or Beeline) offer their own auto dialing services, which are network-level, so they are independent of the phone model, but there are limitations to this method:
- β No need to install applications.
- β Paid (usually 1-3) β½ call).
- β It only works for subscribers of the same operator.
How to connect:
- Send. USSD-team: πΆ MTS: *111*777# πΆ Beeline: *110*789# πΆ MegaFon: *105*700# πΆ Television2: *155*1*1*1#
Follow the instructions in the SMS from the operator.
- MTS: *111*777*0#
- Beeline: *110*789*0#
- Add the task (+ β Telephony β Repeat the last call).
- Set the delay before repeating (e.g. 20 seconds) and the maximum number of attempts.
- Save the profile and activate it.
Tasker allows you to customize auto dialing to time of day, day of week, or even location (e.g., repeating calls only when youβre at work), but it will require you to understand the logic of the application or use ready-made templates from the community.

6 Why Auto dialing may not work: 7 frequent errors
If you have set up an auto dialer but it doesnβt work, check these points:
| Problem. | Reason. | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| Auto dialer's off. | MIUI firmware blocks engineering menu | Use the app (method 2) or update MIUI to the latest version |
| Calls are repeated endlessly. | Incorrectly configured the number of attempts | Set a limit (e.g., 3-5 attempts) in the application settings |
| Auto dialing only works for certain contacts. | Conflict with blacklist or SIM settings | Check the exceptions in the auto dialer app or disable the operator service |
| After resetting, the settings are reset. | App not added to autoboot | Go to Settings β Applications β Autoboot and turn it on |
| Autophone is working with a great delay | Battery Optimization Limits Background Work | Turn off optimization for the app in battery settings |
If none of the methods worked, check:
- π Battery charge: at a level below 15% MIUI Can block background processes.
- πΆ Communication quality: in areas of weak signal, the auto dial may not work.
- π Version MIUI: on old firmware (below) MIUI 12.5) Some functions may not work.

If the auto dialer doesn't work through the engineering menu, but it works through the app, the problem is in the firmware. Update MIUI to the latest version or use third-party solutions.
