Xiaomi Mi A3 is one of the few smartphones of the brand that runs on a “pure” Android One instead of the proprietary shell MIUI. This feature affects access to hidden settings: the engineering menu here differs from the standard models of Xiaomi. In this article, we will analyze all the working ways of entering, menu functions and unique risks for the Mi A3 due to the lack of MIUI.
The Engineering Mode allows you to test hardware, calibrate sensors, and even change network settings. However, not all methods that work on other Xiaomi will work for the Mi A3, due to the features of the firmware and Google’s policy for Android One devices. Below you will find the current instructions tested on the 2023-2026 versions of the software.
What is an engineering menu and why you need it on the Mi A3
The engineering menu is a hidden settings section for service centers and developers. On the Xiaomi Mi A3, it gives you access to:

- 🔧 Calibration of sensors: accelerometer, gyroscope, compass (important after replacing the display).

The advantage of this method is access to advanced modem tests (useful for mobile phone problems) and sensors, but the application interface is not localized, and some options can cause soft-brick if used incorrectly.

Method 3: Log in via ADB (for power users)
If service codes and applications don’t work, the Android Debug Bridge (ADB) option is left, which requires a PC and basic command line knowledge, but gives you maximum control over the device.
Instructions:
- Download and install ADB Tools on your computer.
- On your smartphone, turn on USB Debugging (Settings → About Phone → Assembly Number – press 7 times, then go back to Settings → System → For Developers).
- Connect the Mi A3 to your PC and execute the command: Adb devices (you should display your device).

Some of the settings in the engineering menu can disrupt the smartphone.
