Forgot the password from the Google account, and the Xiaomi smartphone requires it to enter after resetting? Or bought a used device with a tied profile? The situation is familiar to many MIUI users, where bypassing Factory Reset Protection (FRP) is complicated by integration with Mi Account. Unlike “pure” Android, here standard ways to delete an account are often blocked by the system.
In this article, we will discuss current methods of deleting a Google account on Xiaomi (including Redmi, POCO, Black Shark models) without knowing a password or login. We will look at both official solutions through Mi Unlock Tool, and workarounds for devices on MIUI 12-14 (including versions for the global and Chinese market).
Why you can’t just delete your account through settings
On Xiaomi smartphones, deleting a Google account is blocked for two reasons:

Method 1: Bypass FRP through settings (for MIUI 12–14)
This method works on devices with an unlocked bootloader or on firmware up to MIUI 12.5 (newer versions may require additional bypassing), which is suitable if you have access to the settings menu, but the system blocks deleting your account.
- Go to Settings → About Phone and 7 times click on the MIUI version to activate the Developer Mode.
- Return to Settings → Additional → For developers and enable USB debugging.
- Connect the smartphone to the PC, confirm the debugging permission on the device screen.
- On your computer, open the Command Prompt (Windows) or Terminal (macOS/Linux) and type: adb shell am start -n com.google.android.gsf.login/com.google.android.gsf.login.LoginActivity
- The screen will open a Google sign-in window — click Add an account and create a new one. The old account will be automatically deleted after the reboot.

Method 2: Remove via Mi Unlock Tool (official method)
If you have a Mi Account attached to your device, but you don't remember the data from it, you can use the official tool from Xiaomi.
- 💻 Windows computer (7/10/11).
- 📱 Charged smartphone > 60% and the original cable USB Type-C.
- 🔗 Internet access (to check the status of the device).
Instructions:
- Download Mi Unlock Tool from the official website (the version must match your firmware).
- Launch the utility on behalf of the administrator and log in to your Mi Account (if you forgot the data, restore it via account.xiaomi.com).
- Turn off your smartphone, then press Volume Down + Power to log into Fastboot Mode.
- In Mi Unlock Tool, press Unlock and wait for the process to complete (usually 1-3 minutes).

⚠️ Note: Once the bootloader is unlocked, all data, including photos and apps, will be deleted from the device, and some features (such as Mi Pay or Find Device) may stop working.

Method 3: Recovery Mode Reset (for FRP-free firmware)
On older devices (Redmi 4X, Mi A1) or custom firmware (like LineageOS), you can bypass protection through recovery mode, which does not require a PC, but does not work on all models.
- Turn off your smartphone.
- Press Volume Up + Power to enter Recovery Mode.

- Reboot the device. The system will create a new identifier, which will allow you to skip the old account's link.

Frequent Mistakes and How to Avoid Them
When you try to delete a Google account on Xiaomi, users face typical problems:
