Forgot the password from the Xiaomi Redmi app or just want to disable it? Blocking individual programs through the App Lock is a useful feature of MIUI, but sometimes it creates problems. In this article, we will analyze all the current ways to remove the password (including bypassing if you forgot the combination), and also tell you how to completely disable the protection of applications on the Redmi Note 10/11/12, Redmi 9/10 and other models with MIUI 12-14.
It's important to understand that the methods differ depending on whether you remember your password or not. If you save your phone (screen unlocking works), most methods will take no more than a minute. If you forget your App Lock password and can't log in, you'll need additional steps, from resetting through your Mi Account to using ADB (for advanced users).
We warn you in advance that some methods (such as resetting settings) will delete all application data, including saved passwords, settings and cache, so before you start, we recommend checking whether important data is synced with the Mi Cloud.
1. How to remove the password from the application, if you remember it
If you know the current password from App Lock, it's going to take less than a minute to process. Here's a step-by-step guide for MIUI 12-14:
1. Open the settings on your Xiaomi Redmi.
2. Go to the Appendix section β Application locking (App Lock).
3. Enter the current password (or fingerprint, if configured).
4. Find the application you want to remove the protection from in the list, and move the slider to the left (or click on the lock icon).
Now, the app will open without asking for a password. If you want to turn off App Lock for all programs, in the same menu, click on the three dots in the upper right corner and select Disable App Lock.
βοΈ Preparing to disable App Lock
On some Redmi models (such as the Redmi Note 8 Pro or Redmi 9T), the path to settings may be slightly different:
- π± MIUI 12: Settings β Password and security β Application lockdown
- π MIUI 13/14: Settings β Annexes β Blocking applications or Settings β Confidentiality β Application lockdown
β οΈ Warning: If the app still requests a password after disabling App Lock, try restarting your phone. In rare cases, the cache of the app Security needs to be cleared (Settings) β Annexes β Application management β Security β Clear the cache).
2.Resetting the App Lock password through your Mi Account
Forgot the password, but the phone is unlocked and tied to the Mi Account? In this case, you can reset the App Lock settings through the cloud. This method works on most Xiaomi Redmi models, including the Redmi Note 11 Pro+, Redmi 10 and POCO X3.

- Return to Settings β Applications β Blocking applications.

- Follow the instructions on the screen to create a new password.
After resetting, all blocked apps will be automatically unlocked, and you will only have to reconfigure App Lock if necessary.
What to do if you donβt have access to your Mi Account?
This method doesnβt work on phones without a Mi Account attached or after a hard reset, and it may not be available on custom firmware (like LineageOS or Pixel Experience).
3. Delete password through ADB (for advanced users)
If the previous methods did not work, and you do not want to reset the phone, you can use it. ADB (Android Debug Bridge. This method is suitable for Xiaomi Redmi with unlocked USB-Debugging and requires a computer.

β οΈ Attention: Use ADB The wrong commands can cause system failures, and if you're not sure what you're doing, you better use other methods.
4. Hard reset (if nothing helps)
If you don't remember the password, there's no Mi Account attached on the phone, and the ADB isn't configured, the last option is factory reset, which will delete all the data from the phone, including apps, photos and settings.
How to make a reset on Xiaomi Redmi:
- Turn off the phone.
- Press the Power + Volume buttons up at the same time until the Mi logo appears.
- In the Recovery menu, select the language (if required).

5. Bypassing the lock through Safe Mode (Security Mode)
A little-known way is to download to Safe Mode, which disables all third-party applications, including App Lock. It doesn't work on all versions of MIUI, but it's worth a try.
How to download in Safe Mode:
- Turn off the phone.
- Press the Power button before the Mi logo appears.
- Once the logo appears, press and hold the Volume button down until full load.
- In the lower left corner of the screen, the inscription Safe Mode will appear.
In this mode, try to open the locked application β if you're lucky, you won't ask for a password.
- Go to Settings β Applications β Blocking applications.
- Remove protection from the desired application (if the menu is available).
- Restart your phone in normal mode.
Unfortunately, on MIUI 14, this method often doesn't work, as App Lock is embedded in system services, but on older versions (such as MIUI 11 on the Redmi Note 7), there's a chance.

If Safe Mode doesn't work, try turning off the Internet (plane mode) before you load into this mode. Sometimes this prevents App Lock from activating.
6. Alternative methods: disconnection through Second Space
Some Xiaomi Redmi models (such as the Redmi K40 or Redmi Note 10 Pro) have a Second Space feature, and if it's enabled, you can try bypassing the lock through it.
Instructions:
- Go to Settings β Special Options β Second Space.
- Create a second profile (if not).
- Switch to Second Space (swipe down the lock screen β profile icon).
- In the second profile, App Lock is usually disabled by default.
