Why Mi Account is blocking your phone and what to do if your device is not available
Forgotten password, stolen smartphone or screen breakdown β situations where access to Xiaomi or Redmi is blocked due to a tied Mi Account. The protection system activates factory lock (FRP) after resetting if the account was not untied in advance. Unlike Google Account, which can be bypassed through fastboot, Mi Account is integrated at the firmware level and requires a comprehensive approach.
The problem becomes more complicated if the phone is not turned on, broken or in third parties. Standard methods of entering a password or confirming by SMS become unavailable. In this article, 5 proven ways to delete Mi Account without physical access to the device, including official and alternative solutions. Importantly, some methods may violate the terms of Xiaomi's user agreement, so use them at your own risk.
Before you start, make sure you have at least one of the following data:
β Login (email/phone from Mi Account
β Backup email or number for recovery
β Checks or box from the device (to contact the service)
β Access to a computer with Windows/Linux
Method 1: Recover access through the official Mi Account website
If you remember an email or phone that is linked to your account but you can't enter a password on a locked device, the first step is to restore access through the web interface, which works even without physical access to your smartphone.
Go to account.xiaomi.com/pass/forgetPassword and the system will prompt you to enter an email/phone and then send:
- π§ Reset password link to backup email (if specified)
- π± Confirmation code for the linked phone number (if) SIM-card)
- π Security issues (if they were previously set up)
Once the password is successfully restored, access to all Xiaomi services, including the locked device, will automatically be unlocked. However, if the phone was reset to factory settings after locking, you will need to additionally link your account via Settings β Mi Account on another Xiaomi device.

If you donβt remember the backup email, try entering your primary account address in the recovery field β the system can show a backup mask (e.g. v***@gmail.com).
