Why Xiaomi requires logging in to Google account after reset
Reset Xiaomi, Redmi or POCO to factory settings, and the phone requires you to enter data from a Google account that was previously linked? This is not a bug, but a security feature β FRP (Factory Reset Protection). It appeared in Android 5.1 Lollipop and protects the device from theft: without knowing the login / password from the associated account, you can not use the smartphone after reset.
The problem is that FRP works even if you're the legitimate owner, but you've forgotten your account details, or you've bought a used Xiaomi with a profile tied to you, and you need to bypass the security, either legally or technically, and it's important that some of the ways you use it may violate Google's terms of use, so you only use them to unlock your device.
In this article, current methods of circumventing FRP for Xiaomi on Android 10-14 (including HyperOS), tested on the Redmi Note 12/13, POCO X5/F5, Mi 11/12.
- π Official (through restoration of access to the account)
- π οΈ Technical (using the Fastboot mode and ADB)
- π± Bypass (exploits in firmware, do not work on all models)
Method 1: Restoring access to your Google account (official method)
If you remember the email of your linked account but you forgot your password, it's the safest method, and it doesn't require any technical skills, and it works on all Xiaomi models.
Instructions:
- On the lock screen, click Forgot your password? (or No access to your account?).
- Enter the email account that was linked to the phone.
- Follow Googleβs instructions for password recovery (access to a backup email or phone is required).
- After changing the password, enter new data on the lock screen Xiaomi.
β οΈ Note: If the account was created long ago and there is no backup attached to it email/phone, recovery may take up to 72 Watches (Google requests additional data for verification).
Try to remember frequently used addresses (e.g. @gmail.com, @mail.ru)
Check mailboxes on other devices (PC, tablet)
Contact Google with proof of device ownership (checks, box)
-->
If you don't have an account (e.g., you bought a used phone), try contacting the previous owner, and if you want to, use the technical methods in the following sections.
Method 2: Bypass FRP through Fastboot (for advanced)
This method is suitable for Xiaomi devices on Android 10-12 and requires a computer with drivers installed ADB/Fastboot. The essence is a temporary disconnection of the check FRP via Fastboot commands.
Step-by-step:
- Turn off the phone. Press the Power button + Volume down to enter the Fastboot Mode.
- Connect Xiaomi to your PC via USB-cable.
- Open the Command Prompt (Windows) or Terminal (Mac/Linux) in the folder with the platform-tools.
- Enter the command to check the connection: fastboot devices Must appear serial number of the device.
- Run the FRP disable command: fastboot erase frp or for new models: fastboot erase config
- Reboot the phone: fastboot reboot
β οΈ Note: On some models (Redmi Note) 11/12, POCO F4/F5) After this procedure, you may need to re-firm through the Mi Flash Tool, as critical partitions are erased.
What to do if the team is not working?
| Xiaomi model | Supported teams | Is it necessary to unlock the loader |
|---|---|---|
| Redmi Note 10/10 Pro | fastboot erase frp | No. |
| POCO X3/X3 Pro | fastboot erase config | Yes. |
| Mi 11/11T | fastboot erase frp + fastboot erase config | Yes. |
| Redmi Note 12/13 | Only through the Mi Flash Tool | Yes. |
Method 3: Using vulnerabilities in firmware (without a PC)
Some versions of MIUI and HyperOS contain exploits that allow you to bypass FRP without a computer, which do not work on all devices and can be closed in new updates.
The latest vulnerabilities for Xiaomi in 2026:
- π Bypass through the screen dictaphone (works on the MIUI 12-14): On the Google account input screen, launch the Screen Voice Recorder (usually in the notification bar). β Assistance β Video lessons. Browser opens -- type settings in the address bar and go to settings. Reset your phone again through Recovery and Reset.
Bypassing through Wi-Fi setup
POCO M3/M4
- On the Wi-Fi network selection screen, click Add Network.
- In the Network Name field, enter arbitrary text, highlight it and click Share.
- Select Messages or Gmail β the application will open, from where you can go to the settings.
On models with HyperOS (Redmi Note 13, POCO X6), these methods may not work β Xiaomi has closed most vulnerabilities in the new firmware.
π‘
If the bypass through the recorder does not work, try instead of the word settings to enter downloads β this will open the file manager, where you can start the installation of APK to bypass FRP.
Method 4: Firmware via Mi Flash Tool (last resort)
If other methods fail, you can completely flash the device through the Mi Flash Tool, which erases all data, but it's guaranteed to remove FRP.
What you need:
- π₯οΈ Windows computer 10/11
- π Cable USB (original)
- π Fastboot firmware ROM For your model (download from the official website)
- π οΈ Mi Flash Tool Programming
If the code doesnβt work, try alternatives:
- #7780## - Resetting (not always removing FRP)
- #36446337## - Equipment test (can open access to settings)
β οΈ Note: On models with HyperOS (Redmi Note 13, POCO X6) Service codes do not work β Xiaomi has removed this feature in new firmware.
What to do if nothing helps: alternative solutions
If all of the above methods do not work, the following options remain:
- π§ Contact Xiaomi Service Center: Official Centers can remove FRP on documents for the device (check, warranty card). The cost of the service is from 1000 to 3000 rubles.
- π Buy a box to unlock: Devices like the Miracle Box or UFi Box can bypass FRP for a few clicks, but cost from 5000 rubles and require skills.
- π± Use your phone without Google services: On some firmware (for example, MIUI For Russia, you can skip logging in by installing an alternative firmware (for example, LineageOS), but this will disable access to the Play Market and other Google services.
