Xiaomi routers often have to go to the web interface of the device β whether it is to set up Wi-Fi, change the password or update the firmware. IP-The address won't open, the username with the password doesn't fit, the menu in Chinese. In this article, we'll discuss all the current ways to log into the Mi Router control panel (including models). 4A Gigabit, AX3000, AX6000 and others, and solve typical access problems.
Xiaomi routers are very well integrated with the Mi Home ecosystem, which makes it easier to manage through the app, but makes it harder to sign in directly through the browser. We'll show you how to get around these restrictions without having to reset your settings. And if you do encounter a blocked access, there's a section at the end of this article on hard password reset and password recovery.
Before you go to the instructions, make sure your computer or smartphone is connected to the router via cable or Wi-Fi. Without an active connection to the routerβs network, it is impossible to log into its menu.
1. Standard method of entry through IP-address
The most universal method is the use of IP-The router's address in the browser address bar. For most Xiaomi models, it's 192.168.31.1 or miwifi.com:
If you've changed your network settings before, the IP might have changed.
- π₯οΈ On Windows: Open the command line (Win) + R β cmd) and type ipconfig. Look for the main gateway line in your network section.
- π± On Android: Go to Settings β Wi-Fi β [your network] β Additionally. IP gateway is specified in the properties of the network.
- π Nana MacOS/iOS: Use the netstat command -nr | grep default in the terminal.
Once you have identified an IP, type it into the browser address bar (Chrome, Firefox, Edge). Importantly, some Xiaomi models (such as the AX6000) may require HTTPS connectivity β add https:/// before IP.
β οΈ Note: If you see an error when entering ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED, Check if the firewall or antivirus is blocking access. Turn them off temporarily and try again.
2. Login and password to log into the Xiaomi menu
This is where the major challenges begin. Depending on the model and firmware version of the router, Xiaomi uses different combinations to authenticate:
| Model router | Login (by default) | Password (default) | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mi Router 4A/4C | admin | admin | Chinese firmware may require binding to Mi Account |
| Mi Router AX3000/AX1800 | admin | Last 8-digit serial number symbol (on the sticker) | Serial number is listed on the bottom of the router |
| Mi Router AX6000 | Linked to Mi Account | Requires scanning. QR-code through Mi Home | Without the application, entry is impossible |
| Redmi Router AC2100 | admin | Password from Wi-Fi (by default) | It may be different on global firmware |
If standard data doesnβt fit, try:
- π View the password on the sticker under the router (sometimes listed as Wi-Fi Key or Router Password).
- π± Use the Mi Home app to reset your password (Device section) β [router] β Settings β Password reset).
- π Reset the router to factory settings (reset button for 10 seconds).
On routers with firmware for the Chinese market (for example, Mi Router 4A CN), the browser entry can be completely blocked β you will need firmware for the global version.

3. Entry through the Mi Home application (alternative method)
If the web interface is not available, you can manage the router through the official Mi Home app, which works even on Chinese firmware, but requires a link to a Xiaomi account.
Instructions:
- Download Mi Home from Google Play or App Store.
- Sign up with your Xiaomi account (if not, register).
- Click Add Device (+) β Select Router β Follow the instructions.
- After adding, the router will appear in the list of devices. Click on it β Settings β Additional features.
Through Mi Home, the main functions are available:
- π Router reboot.
- π Changing the Wi-Fi password.
- π‘ Setting up the guest network.
- π Firmware update.
β οΈ Note: The Mi Home app does not have access to advanced settings (e.g. Port Forwarding or Port Forwarding). VLAN). They will still need a web interface.
π‘
If the router is not added to Mi Home, try changing your account region to China (in your profile settings).
4. Solving problems with access to the menu
If you have correctly entered the IP and login / password, but the login is still impossible, check the following points:
Problem. 1: Page won't open (ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT)
- π Make sure the cable is connected to the port. WAN (the blue connector) of the router, not to LAN.
- π Try a different browser (e.g. Firefox instead of Chrome).
- π Restart the router (power button or turn off power for 30 seconds).
Problem 2: Requirement to link to Mi Account (on Chinese firmware)
Some models (AX6000, AX3000 CN) block the entry without authorization via Mi Home.
- π± Link the router to your account via the app, then try logging in via the browser.
- π§ Install global firmware (instructions in the next section).
Problem 3: Chinese menu
If the interface is displayed in Chinese, but you have logged in successfully:
- Find the right corner at the top, there may be a flag. π¨π³. Click on it and select. π¬π§ or π·πΊ.
- If there is no flag, manually add?lang=en at the end of the URL (example: 192.168.31.1/?lang=en).

5. Reset password and factory settings
If you forget your password or your router is locked, the only reliable way is to reset hard, and that will bring back all your factory settings, including your Wi-Fi name and password.
Instructions:
- On the back of the router, find the Reset button (small hole).

- π Use the menu to enter admin/admin or leave the password field blank.
β οΈ Warning: Reset removes all settings, including Port Forwarding, static IP Pre-save screenshots of important parameters or export configuration (if available).
π‘
Resetting to factory settings is a last resort. Before you try to restore the password through the Mi Home app or contact Xiaomi support (if the router is warranty).
6. Update firmware to access menu
Xiaomi's Chinese router firmware often blocks browser entry, and the solution is to install global firmware. This is the official method, but it needs caution.
Step-by-step:
- Download the latest global firmware for your model from the official website.
- Connect the router to the computer via cable.
- Go to the router menu (if you have access) and go to Advanced Settings β System β Manual Upgrade.
- Download the firmware file and wait until it is completed (donβt turn off the power!).
If the menu is blocked:
- π§ Use Recovery Mode: Hold Reset when the router is turned on until the indicator flashes quickly.
- π₯οΈ Connect to the router on TFTP (like Tftpd64) And load the firmware on IP 192.168.1.1.
On the AX6000 and AX3000 routers with firmware for China, after updating to the global version, you may need to re-assign to your Mi Account.
7. Advanced settings: what can be done in the router menu
After successful login, you will get access to the following features (depending on the model):
| Section | Opportunities | Example of use |
|---|---|---|
| Network β WAN | Connection type (PPPoE, DHCP), MTU, DNS | Set up the Internet from the provider |
| Wireless β Basic | Network Name (SSID), Password, Channel, Bandwidth | Changing Wi-Fi Password to More Secure |
| Advanced β Port Forwarding | Port transfer for games, cameras, servers | Configuring remote access to IP-camera |
| System β Administration | Update firmware, backup | Save settings before resetting |
Some useful functions:
- π‘οΈ Parental Controls: Restricting access to sites by time or device.
- π Traffic monitoring: who and how much is consuming the Internet.
- π Guest network: separate Wi-Fi network for guests with limited access.
π‘
To speed up Wi-Fi, in the Wireless β Advanced section, install a fixed channel (such as 6 or 11 for 2.4 GHz) instead of Auto.
