Introduction: why you need access to the settings of the Xiaomi modem
Xiaomi routers are among the most popular devices for home networking due to the ratio of price to functionality. However, many users face difficulties when first logging into the control panel. Without access to settings, you can not change the network name (SSID), set a Wi-Fi password, set up guest access or update the firmware.
In this article you will find relevant IP-Addresses for all modern models of Xiaomi routers (2026), standard login / password, as well as solutions to typical problems: from the error "Page is not available" to reset settings to factory. 4A, 4C, 5, AX1800, AX3000, AX6000 and other models based on MiWiFi ROM.
If you've never logged into a router's web interface, don't worry. It takes no more than 3 minutes, and our step-by-step screenshots and video instructions (at the end of the article) will help you avoid errors. Let's start with the easiest way.
Method 1: Entering through a standard IP-address (192.168.31.1)
Most Xiaomi routers use 192.168.31.1 as a web interface address, which works for 90% of devices if the network is configured correctly.
- Connect to the router via cable (LAN) Or Wi-Fi. Use a network with a name for wireless connectivity. Xiaomi_XXXX (unless the name is changed).
- Open any browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox) and type in the address bar: http://192.168.31.1 Important: donβt add www or.com β itβs a local address!
- Enter your login and password. For new routers, this is: π Login: admin π Password: Admin or leave the field blank (depending on the model)
If the page does not open, check:
- π Connection to the router (indicator) LAN/WAN burn)
- π Correctness of the input IP (Frequent error: a typo in the last digit)
- π Reset the router with the Reset button (hold 5 seconds)
Connect to the router network | Open the browser in incognito | Enter 192.168.31.1 without errors | Try an alternative IP (192.168.0.1)
-->
If you've changed before, IP-The router address (e.g., 192.168.1.1), standard 192.168.31.1 will not work. In this case, use Method 3 (definition) IP command-line).

Xiaomi has developed an official Mi WiFi app (formerly Mi Router) that makes it easier to control a router from a smartphone.

Instructions for connection:
- Download the Mi WiFi app from Google Play or the App Store.
- Connect to the network of the Xiaomi router (if the network is hidden, hold the Reset button for 1 second to activate the settings mode).
- Launch the application and follow the prompts. The system will automatically find the router and prompt you to enter the password (the default admin).
Advantages of this method:

β οΈ Note: The Mi WiFi application may not find the router if it is running in bridge mode or if the UPnP protocol is disabled. In this case, use Method 1 or Method 3.
Method 3: Definition IP-router addresses via the command line
If standard 192.168.31.1 doesnβt work and the application doesnβt find the router, you can find the current IP via the command line (Windows) or the Terminal (macOS/Linux), this method is universal and works even with changed network settings.
Instructions for Windows:
- Press Win + R, enter cmd and press Enter.
- Enter the command: ipconfig Find the main gateway line β this is your routerβs IP.
- Copy the address (e.g. 192.168.0.1) and paste it into the browser.
For macOS/Linux, use the command:
netstat -rn | grep defaultor
route -nThe IP you want will be in the Gateway column.
| Operating system | Team team. | Parameter sought |
|---|---|---|
| Windows | ipconfig | Main lock |
| macOS | netstat -rn | grep default | default (second column) |
| Linux | ip route | grep default | via [IP-address] |
If the command line shows the address 169.254.x.x, it means that your computer is not receiving IP from the router.
- π Physical connection of Ethernet cable
- π Restart the router (turn off power for 30 seconds)
- π οΈ Disable the antivirus/firewall (they can block it) DHCP)

What if the reset didn't help?
Solving problems when entering settings
Even after the right input IP-Users are faced with errors. Let's look at the most common and their solutions:
| Problem. | Possible cause | Decision |

| Page won't open (ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED) | Router not responding to requests | Check the power, reset the settings or connect via cable |
| Authentication error (Incorrect login / password) | Password changed or reset failed | Repeat the reset (hold the reset for 15+ seconds) |
| Redirection to the provider's page | The router operates in bridge mode or is linked to the providerβs account. | Turn off the WAN cable and re-enter the LAN |

If the router requests a username/password from a Xiaomi account (not admin/admin), it means that the Mi Account link was previously enabled.
- Try to log in through the account that was used in setting up.
- If data is lost, reset the router to factory settings (see Method 4).
- For models with MiWiFi ROM versions 3.0+, you may need to untie the device through the Xiaomi website.
