Xiaomi routers are among the most popular devices for home networking due to their combination of price, performance and ease of setup. However, even experienced users sometimes have difficulty accessing the routerβs web interface, especially if the device was configured long ago or purchased with hands. In this article, we will discuss all the current ways to log in to settings for Mi Router 4A, 4C, 5, AX3000, AX6000 and others, including solutions to typical problems.
It is important to understand that the process can vary depending on the firmware version (MiWiFi ROM or OpenWRT), the type of connection (by cable or Wi-Fi), and even the region of purchase of the device. We will look at standard and alternative methods, as well as provide recommendations on security - for example, why you should not leave the factory password admin after the first setting. If you encounter an error "Page is not available" or the router does not respond to 192.168.31.1, in the article there is a section with a diagnostics for such cases.
1. Standard method of login via web interface
The most common method is to use a browser on a computer or smartphone, which doesn't require any additional software, just a stable connection to the router. Here's a step-by-step guide:
- π Connect your device (PC, laptop, phone) to the network of the Xiaomi router over Wi-Fi or LAN-For reliability, we recommend using a wired connection.
- π In the address bar of the browser, enter one of IP-192.168.31.1 β the main address for most models; miwifi.com β an alternative domain (works if not changed) DNS-settings); 192.168.0.1 - less commonly used, but may work.
- π Enter the username and password. By default, this is: Login: admin; Password: admin or blank field (depending on the firmware version).
If you've changed your login data before, but you've forgotten it, you'll have to reset your router to the factory, and you can do it safely, see section 5.
Connect to the router network | Open the browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge) | Enter 192.168.31.1 in the address bar | Try the standard login / password
-->
β οΈ Attention: If, upon input, 192.168.31.1 The browser redirects to a search engine (for example, Yandex or Google), check if it is registered in the address. http://. Some browsers automatically add https://, what could be wrong.
Alternatives IP-address and domain entry
Not all Xiaomi models use 192.168.31.1 as their primary address, for example, routers for overseas markets (such as the Xiaomi Router 4A Gigabit Edition) may have a different gateway.
| Model router | Basic IP-address | Alternative address | Factory login/password |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mi Router 4A (all versions) | 192.168.31.1 | miwifi.com | admin/admin or empty |
| Mi Router 4C | 192.168.31.1 | 192.168.0.1 | admin/admin |
| Mi Router AX3000 (CN/Global) | 192.168.31.1 | miwifi.com or 192.168.1.1 | admin/password from the sticker |
| Mi Router AX6000 | 192.168.31.1 | miwifi.com | Unique password on the box |
If none of the addresses are working, try to find out the routerβs IP automatically:
- π₯οΈ On Windows: Open the Command Prompt (Win) + R β Type in cmd) and execute the command: ipconfig Search for the main gateway line β this is it. IP your router.
- π± On Android: Use the Fing app or IP Tools for scanning the network.

- β Supports most models (except some versions for China).
- β Convenient interface with visualization of connected devices.
- β No access to advanced settings (e.g. ports, VPN, DDNS).
- β It may not work if the router is running OpenWRT.
Instructions for connection:
- Download the Mi WiFi app from Google Play or the App Store.
- Connect the phone to the router network.
- Open the app and follow the instructions. The system will automatically find your Xiaomi Router.
- Enter the password (by default β from the sticker on the device or admin).

If the app doesnβt find the router, try disabling the VPN or changing the region in your phone settings to China (for some models, this solves the problem).
4. Solving problems with access to settings
If the router does not open the web interface or issues errors (ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED, The site is not available, the reasons may be the following:
- π Incorrect connection: Check if the cable is connected to the port WAN/LAN (Not on the Internet if you have a separate modem).
- π Conflict IP: Make sure your computer receives IP automatically (in the properties of the network connection should be IP-address).
- π‘οΈ Firewall/antivirus: temporarily disable protection (e.g. Windows Defender or Kaspersky) and try again.
- π Firmware failure: If the router flashes orange or does not respond to a reset, flashing will be required (instruction in Section 6).
A common mistake is redirecting to the provider's authorization page (for example, Rostelecom or Beeline).
- The router is connected to the providerβs network via PPPoE or Dynamic IP, but the settings are not saved.
- The browser cached the old page (try Ctrl + F5 or incognito mode).
What if the router asks for the providerβs login/password?
5. Reset router settings to factory
If you forget your password or your router is unstable, hard reset will help.Warning: after this procedure, all settings (including Wi-Fi, ports, parental controls) will be deleted!
- On the router turned on, find the Reset button (usually it is recessed in the case and signed RST).
- Take a paperclip or toothpick, press and hold the button for 10-15 seconds until the indicators start flashing.
- Release the button and wait for the reboot (1-2 minutes).
- Connect to the router network (it will be called) Xiaomi_XXXX or MiWiFi_XXXX) and come in to the address. 192.168.31.1 login/password admin.
On some models (e.g. AX6000) the reset is performed differently:
- π Turn off router power.
- π Press the Reset button and, without letting it go, turn on the power.
- π Hold the button for another 20 seconds after switching on.

Resetting to factory settings is a last resort. Before you try to restore access through the Mi WiFi app or contact Xiaomi support (if the router is warranty).
6. Flashing the router in case of critical failures
If the router does not respond to reset or constantly restarts, you may need to flash it again. This process is risky - if you make a mistake, the device will turn into a brick. We recommend contacting specialists, but if you decide to act on your own, follow the instructions:
- π₯ Download the official firmware for your model from Xiaomi support site or forum 4PDA.
- π₯οΈ Connect the router to the computer by LAN-cable.
- π§ Install the MiWiFi Repair Tool (for Windows) or use it TFTP-server.
- π Follow the instructions for firmware (for each model it is unique!).
For models running OpenWRT (e.g. Mi Router 3G), the process is different:

Other safety recommendations:
- π Turn off Remote Management in the settings if you do not use it.
- π‘ Change the name of the network (SSID) unique (not unique) Xiaomi_1234).
- π Regularly update the firmware through the System β Firmware Upgrade.
- π‘οΈ Turn on Firewall and turn off UPnP if you donβt need it.
For IoT-enabled models (such as the AX3600), we also recommend:
- Create a guest network for smart devices (lamps, cameras).
- Disable WPS β This protocol is vulnerable to attacks.
