Xiaomi Mi A3 is a popular smartphone with the Android One software platform, which, despite its reliability, sometimes requires repairs. Disassembly of the device may be necessary to replace the battery, display, speaker or other components. However, improper actions can lead to damage to the plumes, cracks in the case or even complete failure of the gadget.
In this article, we will take a look at the Mi A3 disassembly process, provide the tools you need, highlight the keys, and warn you of common mistakes, and it will be suitable for both beginners and experienced users who want to save money on a service center. If you have never taken a smartphone apart, carefully study each step and take your time.
Important: disassembling the smartphone will void the Xiaomi warranty if it is still valid. Before starting work, make sure that the device is turned off and the battery is charged at least 30% - this will prevent accidental switching on during disassembly.
Tools and training required
To safely disassemble the Xiaomi Mi A3, you need a specialized set of tools. Using improvised tools (knives, screwdrivers of the wrong size) often causes damage to the latches or scratches on the body.
- π§ Plastic blade (or mediator) - to disconnect the body without scratches.
- π© The screwdriver. PH00 β squirt-in.
- 𧲠Magnetic mat or container β to avoid losing small details.
- π₯ Hair dryer or thermo-air station - for softening the glue (optional, if the glue is too strong).
- πΈ Smartphone for photography β capture each step so as not to confuse details during assembly.
Also, prepare your workspace: it should be well lit, clean and free of static electricity (ideally an antistatic mat). If you're disassembling your smartphone for the first time, watch the video instructions on YouTube, visual accompaniment will help avoid errors.
β οΈ Warning: Do not use metal tools to smack the back cover - this almost always leads to chipped plastic. If the glue is too strong, warm the edges of the body with a hairdryer (temperature not higher than 60).Β°C), but do not overheat the battery!

Step 1: Removing the back cover
The back of the Mi A3 is attached to glue and plastic latches. To remove it, start by warming the edges with a hairdryer (if the glue is fresh) or gently shovel the bottom edge where the charging connector is located. Act slowly so as not to break the latches.
Algorithm of action:
- Insert a plastic blade into the gap between the lid and the case at the USB-C connector.
- Smoothly lead the shoulder blade along the edge, gradually increasing the gap.
- As soon as the lid begins to move away, do not pull it sharply - under it pass the plumes of the fingerprint scanner and antenna contacts.
- Put the lid aside, first disconnecting the scanner plume (carefully tuck it into the shoulder blade).
If the lid doesn't lend itself, don't put too much effort into it. Maybe the glue is too strong -- in this case, warm up the edges with a hair dryer again. Some users recommend using isopropyl alcohol to soften the glue, but it's risky -- the alcohol can damage the seals.

If the back cover cracks when you remove it, don't panic. You can replace it with a new one (the original cover for the Mi A3 - MDY10-0006).
Step 2: Battery disconnection
Before any manipulation of the internal components, be sure to turn off the battery, which will prevent short circuit and damage to the motherboard. In the Mi A3, the battery is attached to the glue and connected through a connector to the board.
Instructions:
- Find the battery connector - it is located at the top of the board, next to the camera.
- Carefully put a plastic spatula on the connector and unplug it. Don't pull the wires!
- If the battery is swelling, don't puncture it, it could cause fire, and then you'd better call the service.
After the battery is turned off, check its condition. If it swells or deforms, replace it with a new one (original article: MBJ407450).
β οΈ Warning: If you accidentally close the battery contacts with a metal tool, immediately turn it off and do not turn on the smartphone for 10-15 minutes.

Step 3: Removing the motherboard
The Mi A3 motherboard is mounted on multiple screws and connected to other components through plumes, and to remove it, do the following:
- Unscrew all the screws (about 10-12 pieces) with a PH00 cross screwdriver. Fold them in order of extraction - they may differ in length!
- Carefully unplug the plumes: π± Display (the widest, at the bottom of the board). π Dynamics and microphone (thin, in the middle part). π· Cameras (short plume at the top).
Put a plastic blade on the board and remove it.
When retrieving the board, be careful with flexible contacts β they break easily. If you replace the board entirely, make sure that the new one has the same revision (the original one should be labeled Mi A3 REV 1.0 or similar).
What to do if the screw breaks when unscrewed?
Step 4: Replace the display
The Mi A3 screen is one of the most vulnerable places, and when it falls, it often cracks and the sensor stops responding to touch, and changing the display requires care, because the plume is very fragile.
Procedure:
- Warm up the edges of the screen with a hair dryer (temperature 50-60 Β° C) - this will soften the glue.
- Put a plastic blade on the screen from any angle. Do not insert a blade deeper than 2 mm to avoid damaging the matrix!
- Disconnect the display plume from the motherboard (it is fixed by a latch - raise it up).
- Install a new display by first cleaning the frame of the old adhesive. Use a new adhesive layer (e.g. B-7000).
After replacing, check the sensor in the Settings menu β System β About Phone β Diagnostics. If part of the screen is not responding, the plume may be loosely connected or damaged.

Step 5: Camera disassembly and dynamics
The Mi A3 camera (48 MP + 8 MP + 2 MP) is mounted on the screws and connected to the board via a flexible plume. If you notice blurry images or artifacts, you may need to replace the module or clean the lens.
How to make out:
- π§ Unscrew 2 screws fixing the metal frame of the camera.
- π· Carefully remove the module without touching the lenses (greaty prints will worsen the quality of the photo).
- π To replace the speaker, unplug its plume and unplug the module from the body. The new speaker lands on a two-way tape.
If the problem isnβt mechanical damage, check the camera settings in Settings β Apps β Camera β Resolutions. Sometimes the failures are caused by software errors, not hardware errors.
Common Mistakes and How to Avoid Them
Even experienced craftsmen sometimes make mistakes when disassembling the Xiaomi Mi A3, and here are the most common ones and ways to prevent them:
- π₯ Damage to the fingerprint scanner plume β always turn it off before removing the cover.
- π Short circuit when working with the battery - use a dielectric screwdriver.
- π± Cracks on the display when extracted - warm up the glue and use suction cups.
- π© Loss of screws β fold them in a magnetic container in order.
If after the assembly of the smartphone does not turn on, check:
- Connect the battery (the connector should sit tight).
- Integrity of plumes (especially display and power buttons).
- The absence of foreign objects on the board (screws, pieces of glue).

If the touchscreen doesn't work properly after disassembly, it's probably a problem with the display plume. Try reconnecting it or replacing it with a new one.
