Owners of Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco smartphones often face an annoying situation when a system notification suddenly appears on the screen asking “Send an error report.” This window can overlap the interface, interfere with typing or occur at the most inopportune moment, such as during a game or video call.
The main reason is that the system components of the MIUI shell are trying to detect a failure of an application or the interface itself, most often the process of miui daemon or msa service (MIUI System Ads), which run in the background, sometimes due to incorrectly updated software, and in other cases, a conflict of recently installed programs.
In this article, we will discuss how to diagnose the source of the problem and completely rid your smartphone of intrusive windows. We will look at both software methods for solving through settings and deeper ways to resolve conflicts. Remember that ignoring persistent system errors can lead to accelerated battery drain and overheating of the device.
The reasons for system errors on MIUI
Understanding the nature of the bug is half the success of fixing it. In the Xiaomi ecosystem, a separate system process is responsible for collecting statistics and reports. When an application crashes or fails, the system automatically generates a log file and invites the user to send it to developers for analysis.
However, if the error cycle is repeated continuously, it indicates a deeper problem: it can be damage to the cache of system services, incompatibility of versions of Google Play Services with the current version of firmware, or a conflict of access rights. Often users themselves inadvertently (unintentionally) allow applications to access system functions, which causes instability.
⚠️ Note: If error reports start appearing immediately after installing a particular application from an unknown source, there is a high probability that it is the one causing the conflict.
Hardware compatibility is also a factor to consider: On older models of smartphones with upgrades to heavy versions of Android or MIUI, the CPU resources may not cope with background tasks, causing constant interface failures, in which cases the system simply does not have time to process requests and gives an error.
Disabling sending reports in settings
The easiest and safest way to stop the notifications is to prevent the system from sending error data, which will not eliminate the cause of the failure, but will remove the visual reminder of it, and you need to get into the hidden user experience menu.
Go to Settings, then select Password and Security. In the menu that opens, look for Access to Personal Data or Privacy (the name may vary depending on the version of MIUI). Here we are interested in the item related to “User Experience Improvement” or “Improving Program”.
Inside this menu, you will see a switch that suggests automatically sending diagnostic data to Xiaomi, which should be put inactive, and it is also recommended to check the settings for each individual application in the list below, if your firmware version provides such a possibility.
☑️ Algorithm of disabling reports
Once you do this, the system will stop generating data packets to send, and the pop-up will no longer bother you. However, if the error is caused by a critical service failure, the phone may continue to try to start it, using up battery power, so it is better to combine this method with cleaning the cache.
Managing the Miui Daemon app
The key element in collecting data in the background is the Miui Daemon system process, which is the most common source of intrusive notifications, working in conjunction with analytics services, it monitors the state of the system and, if it does not, initiates the creation of a report.
To limit its impact, you need to find the application in the installed list. Go to Settings → Apps → All apps. In the upper right corner, click on three dots and select "Show system processes." Find Miui Daemon (or miui daemon) in the list.
Inside the app menu, you need to do a few things: First, click Stop to interrupt the current process; second, select Clear to delete the accumulated cache and data, which will reset temporary files that may have been corrupted and cause a cyclic error.
| Action. | Description of effect | Security |
|---|---|---|
| Stopping. | Temporarily terminates service until reboot | Safe. |
| Clearing the data | Remove temporary logs and service settings | Safe. |
| Disabling notifications | Hiding report pop-ups | Safe. |
| Removal of updates | Returns the system version of the component to the factory | It requires caution. |
If the Remove button is inactive (which is normal for system components), try clicking on the three dots in the top corner of the app screen and selecting "Remove Updates" will roll the component back to the factory version, which often works more stable on older devices.
What happens if you remove Miui Daemon completely?
Problems with Google and MSA services
Often the root of the problem lies not in the MIUI shell itself, but in Google’s components. Google Play services and frameworks can conflict with Xiaomi’s battery optimization. When the system aggressively ends Google’s processes to save energy, they try to restart, causing an error and a subsequent report.
A similar situation is observed with the msa service (MIUI System Ads. It's a system module that's responsible for advertising in standard applications, has deep access rights and is often a source of instability, and can also be found in the list of system applications through a three-dot menu.
To resolve the problem, follow the following steps for Google and MSA services:
- 📱 Find the application in the list (using the system process display).
- 🗑️ Click “Clear” to delete all data and cache.
- 🚫 Turn off notifications for this application to block pop-ups.
- 🔄 Check for updates in the Play Market Store and install them.
⚠️ Warning: Do not delete or disable Google Play Services completely unless you know exactly what you are doing, which can disrupt email, maps, app store and contact sync.
After cleaning the data, it will take the services time (about 10-15 minutes of active phone operation) to re-index the necessary files and stabilize, during which time the processor may be overloaded.
Resetting and system update
If software manipulation of individual services has not worked, more radical measures should be considered. Often, the accumulated over time “digital garbage” in system settings leads to logical errors.
Before you decide to do this, make sure to create a full backup of your data. Use the built-in Mi Cloud app or sync with your Google Account. Photos, contacts and notes should be stored externally, as your internal memory will be completely cleared.
You can reset through the menu:
Settings → About the phone → Reset settings → Erase all dataAn alternative to a full reset is a firmware update. Xiaomi developers regularly release patches that fix known bugs. Go to Settings → About the phone and check for updates. If a new version of MIUI or security patch is available, install it.
💡
Before resetting, remove the SD card if installed, which will prevent external files from being randomly formatted and speed up the reset process.
In some cases, installing firmware manually through a computer (the Fastboot method) helps, but it requires deeper technical knowledge and unlocking the bootloader, which is not recommended for ordinary users unnecessarily.
Additional diagnostic methods
When standard methods are exhausted, you need to do a deep diagnostic, sometimes the error is in a specific user action or application, try to analyze, and then the report window appears.
If the bug only occurs in one game or program, the problem is localized to that app. Reinstall it, check compatibility with your version of Android, or contact the developer. If reports are random, try running the phone in Safe Mode.
To enter safe mode:
- 🔌 Press and hold the power button.
- 🖱️ When the off menu appears, press and hold your finger on the "Stop" item».
- ✅ Confirm the transition to safe mode when a request appears.
In this mode, only system applications are running. If the error is gone in Safe Mode, then the conflict is caused by third-party software. Start removing newly installed programs one at a time, checking the stability of the system after each deletion.
💡
Safe Mode is the best tool to identify the culprit of the conflict, as it isolates third-party applications from system processes.
