Xiaomi MIUI-based smartphones often ship without Google services pre-installed, especially for models for the Chinese market (Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G, POCO F5, Xiaomi 13 Ultra) or devices with global firmware where the Play Market suddenly stopped working. The reasons can range from the lack of certification of Google Mobile Services (GMS) to a failure after a system update. In this article, we will analyze all the current ways to restore the functionality of the Play Market – from official methods to alternative solutions for the “Chinese” versions of Xiaomi.
It is important to understand that the procedure differs depending on whether your device has a Google certification initially or needs to be installed from scratch. For example, on the Xiaomi 12T Pro for the European market, it is enough to update services, and on the Redmi K60 Pro for China, you will need to fully install GMS through unlocking the bootloader, we will consider both scenarios, and also give recommendations for eliminating typical errors like “Device is not certified” or “No connection to Google servers”.
1. Current status check: Is there Google Play on your Xiaomi?
Before you start installing, make sure the problem really exists. Here's how to do it:
- 🔍 Check the list of applications: open the menu of all programs and type in the search Play Market or Google Play. If the icon is missing, the services are not installed.
- ⚙️ Go to Settings. → About the phone and find the item Version MIUI. If the name of the firmware has the words China, CN Stable (China) is a Chinese version of the GMS.
- 📱 Try opening any Google site (such as maps.google.com) in your browser. If pages don't load or give you a 403 error, services are blocked.
If at least one of the items confirmed the absence of Google Play, move to the next section. If the application is available, but does not work, the problem may be:
- 🔄 Outdated version of the service (requires an update).
- 🚫 Locking through MIUI Optimization (relevant to Chinese firmware).
- 📡 Unstable Internet connection or VPN.
⚠️ Attention: On devices with firmware MIUI China (e.g. Xiaomi Mix Fold 3) attempts to install Google Play via Google APK-files without unlocking the bootloader will cause the error "This device is not certified." GMS (section).
2. Method 1: Install Google Play on global firmware (if the application is missing)
If Play Market used to work but suddenly disappeared after an update or reset, use the official recovery method:
- Download the latest version of Google services: 📥 Google Play Services (select the version for your Android). 📥 Google Play Store (last stable version).
Install. APK-file:
Go to Settings. → Annexes → Application management → Settings (⚙️) → Install unknown applications and allow installation from your file manager (e.g. Files by Google or Mi File Manager.

If after installation there is an error "No Internet connection", follow the following steps:
Turn it off. VPN or proxy in Settings → SIM-maps and mobile networks → Access point (APN)|
Clear the cache and data of Google Play Services in Settings → Apps → All apps|
Check date and time in Settings → Additional → Date and time (should be automatic)|

⚠️ Note: On some Xiaomi models (e.g, POCO X5 Pro 5G) After manual installation of Play Market, Mi Account may be lost. To avoid this, before installing, disable synchronization with Mi Cloud in your account settings.
Method 2: Activation via MIUI Optimization (for Chinese firmware)
On MIUI China devices, Google services are locked at the system level, and to unlock them, you need to disable MIUI Optimization, which restricts the operation of third-party services.
- Activate Developer Mode: Go to Settings → About Phone and 7 times click on the MIUI Version. After that, the Developer For Menu will appear in the Settings Menu.
- Turn off MIUI Optimization: Go to Settings → Developer → and find the MIUI Optimization option (may be called MIUI Optimization). Disable it and restart the phone.
- Install Google Play through ADB (Alternative method: If after optimizing the services still do not work, connect the phone to the PC and execute the command: adb shell settings put global settings miui_optimization_disabled 1 Then repeat the installation. APK-file 1.
This method works on most Xiaomi/Redmi/POCO models with Chinese firmware, but does not guarantee 100% results. If after the reboot, the Play Market disappears again, move on to the next method.

If your phone starts to brake after MIUI Optimization is turned off, return the setting to its original state and try alternative methods (sections 4 or 5).
Method 3: Completely install Google Mobile Services (GMS) on Chinese firmware
If your device is originally designed for the Chinese market (such as the Xiaomi Civi 3 or Redmi K70 Pro), then the Play Market will require:
- Unlock the bootloader: This is an official procedure from Xiaomi, but it will reset all the data on the phone. Instructions: Link your Mi Account to your device in Settings → Xiaomi Account. Go to the Mi Unlock website and download the Mi Unlock Tool utility. Connect your phone in Fastboot mode (click Volume Down + Power) and follow the program instructions.
- Install custom recovery (TWRP): After unlocking, run the TWRP for your model via the command: fastboot flash recovery twrp.img fastboot boot twrp.img
- Sweep GMS-Download the archive from Google Mobile Services for your version MIUI (For example, from here and install it through TWRP.
- Unlock the bootloader (if not unlocked) according to the instructions in Method 4.
- Squeeze the firmware through TWRP Or Mi Flash Tool: For TWRP: Copy. ZIP-I've got a firmware file on my phone. TWRP (Loudness up + Select Install. → Select a file → Swipe to Confirm Flash. For Mi Flash Tool: Unpack the firmware into a folder on your PC. Connect your phone in Fastboot mode. In Mi Flash, specify the path to the folder and press Refresh → Flash.
- 🔄 "Server error DF-DFERH-01": Clear the cache and data of Google Play Store and Google Play Services, then restart the phone.
- 📵 "No Internet connection: Check your settings APN (for mobile internet or disable Mi VPN In Settings → Connections → VPN.
- 🔒 "Application not installed": Make sure that in Settings → Annexes → Special access rights → Install unknown applications allowed from your file manager.
If the error persists, try:
- 🔄 Install an older version of Google Play Services (e.g. 22.30.14 instead of the latest version).
- 📱 Reset network settings in Settings → Connections → Resetting Wi-Fi, Mobile Network and Bluetooth.
- 🔧 Reverse to the previous version MIUI (If the error occurred after the update).
