Xiaomi Redmi 7 is one of the most popular budget smartphones, but even it eventually begins to βslow downβ due to the accumulated unnecessary applications. Embedded MIUI services, advertising utilities and duplicate programs take up precious space in memory, slow down the system and drain the battery. Unlike flagship models, where the margin of performance is greater, on the Redmi 7 every megabyte of memory on the account.
The problem is that many Xiaomi apps canβt be removed by standard methods β they either come back after a reboot or simply donβt have a βDeleteβ button. In this article, weβll look at all the ways you can go from safe deactivation to deep cleaning with ADB. Youβll learn how to get rid of malware, ad modules and duplicate services without breaking the system.
Why is Xiaomi Redmi 7 so full of apps?
Xiaomiβs MIUI-based smartphones out of the box contain dozens of pre-installed programs, and the Redmi 7 is no exception.
- π¦ Branded services: Mi Browser, Mi Video, Mi Music and other apps from Xiaomi that duplicate the features of Google Chrome or YouTube.
- π― Advertising modules: com.miui.analytics, com.xiaomi.midrop and other services that collect data for targeted advertising.
- π Duplicate utilities: for example, two file managers (Mi File Manager and Files by Google) or two calendars.
- π€ Partnering Agreements: Apps from Facebook, Netflix or local services (e.g. AliExpress in some regions).
Most of these programs cannot be removed through Settings β Applications because they are marked as system. However, this does not mean that they can not be eliminated. Next, we will look at methods from the simplest (deactivation) to the most radical (remote through ADB).
β οΈ Note: Some system applications are critical to the job MIUI. Deleting them can lead to loss of functionality (for example, the notification panel disappears or gestures stop working.
Method 1: Deactivate Unnecessary Applications (without Deleting)
If you don't want to risk system stability, but you want to free up RAM and reduce background activity, shutdown is the best way to do this, which is to do it without root rights, and it's reversible, and it's going to stay in memory, but it's going to stop working and it's going to keep up to date.
How to deactivate:
- Open Settings β Applications β Application Management.
- Slip on the three dots in the upper right corner and select Show all apps.
- Find an unnecessary app (such as Mi Browser) and open the page.
- Click Disable (if the button is inactive, the application is critical to the system).
- Confirm the action in the window that appears.
Once disabled, the app will disappear from the menu, stop consuming resources and update through the Play Market. However, it will remain in the deviceβs memory and will occupy space. To completely remove it, additional methods will be required (see the following sections).

Method 2: Remove from Developer Settings (without root)
MIUI has a hidden feature that allows you to remove some system applications without root permissions through developer mode, which does not work for all programs, but can help get rid of some of the preinstalled software.
Instructions:
- Activate Developer Mode: Go to Settings β About Phone. Tap 7 times on MIUI until the notification βYouβve become a developerβ appears.

List of safe packets to remove on Redmi 7:
| Annex | Packet name | Can I remove it? |
|---|---|---|
| Mi Browser | com.android.browser or com.miui.browser | β Yes. |
| Mi Video | com.miui.videoplayer | β Yes. |
| Mi Music | com.miui.player | β Yes. |
| Cleaner (Purifier) | com.miui.cleanmaster | β οΈ Partially (may disrupt the optimization) |
| Themes (Themes) | com.android.themes | β Yes (but there is no way to change topics) |
β οΈ Note: Deleting com.miui.securitycenter or com.android.settings will cause the system to fail. Always check the name of the package before deleting it!

Before you uninstall system applications via ADB, back up your important data. In extreme cases, you can restore factory settings through Settings β Additional β Restore and Reset.
Method 3: Using third-party cleaners (with caution!)
There are dozens of apps in the Play Market that promise to βremove all unnecessary programs with one click,β but most of them either donβt run on MIUI or are themselves a source of advertising. We tested several tools and identified two relatively safe options:
- π§Ή SD Maid (requires root for full functionality, but can find junk files without it).
- π App Inspector (shows all installed packets and allows you to disable them, but does not remove system packets).
How to use SD Maid:
- Install an app from the Play Market.
- Run the scan in the CorpseFinder section (search for remnants of remote programs).
- In the AppControl section, you can turn off background activity of unnecessary applications.
Important: No third-party app can remove system programs on Xiaomi Redmi 7 without root rights or ADB. All promises of βcomplete cleanupβ without additional actions are a hoax.

Method 4: Remove via TWRP and Magisk (for advanced users)
If you are willing to take drastic measures and get root rights, you can remove any system applications, including those that are blocked by MIUI.
- Unlock the bootloader through the official Xiaomi website.
- Install custom TWRP recovery.
- Switch to Magisk to get root rights.
- Use Root Explorer or Titanium Backup to remove packets.

After obtaining root rights, you will be able to:
- Remove any applications through Titanium Backup.
- Freeze system processes with Greenify.
- Install modified versions of MIUI without Bloatware (e.g. MIUI EU).
β οΈ Warning: Getting root rights voids warranty and increases risk of virus infection.Redmi 7 may also stop working Widevine L1 (Downgrades streaming quality at Netflix and Disney+).
Method 5: Flashing on custom firmware (last resort)
If all the previous methods didn't work, the last option is to install an alternative firmware. Redmi 7 works well.
- π± LineageOS (Pure Android without unnecessary apps).
- π MIUI EU (modified MIUI advertising-free).
- π‘οΈ Pixel Experience (firmware with Google Pixel interface).
Advantages of custom firmware:
- Lack of pre-installed Xiaomi apps.
- More frequent security updates.
- The ability to fine-tune performance.
Disadvantages:
- Installation difficulty (TWRP and fastboot experience required)
- Possible bugs (such as a broken NFC or camera)
- Loss of official Xiaomi support

Flashing is the most radical way to get rid of bloatware, but only for advanced users. For most tasks, disabling applications or uninstalling through ADB will be enough.
How to prevent unnecessary new applications from appearing?
Even after cleaning, Redmi 7 can get clogged again due to automatic updates or installs via the Mi App Store.
- Turn off automatic app installation: Go to Settings β Apps β Application Management β Mi App Store. Turn off Auto Update and Recommendations.
- Disable background activity of unnecessary services: In Settings β Battery and Performance β Battery Management. Select Limit background activity for suspicious applications.

Mi App Store
Check the list of installed programs regularly (once every 1-2 months).
It is also useful to disable personalized advertising in MIUI:
- Go to Settings β Privacy β Advertising.
- Turn off the option of personalized advertising.
- Reset the advertising identifier (Reset the identifier).
