Unexpected off-balances, SMS-, subscription renewal notifications, or sudden app restrictions are all issues that one in five Xiaomi owners face, most often caused by auto-renewal of paid subscriptions that users accidentally activate (or forget to disable). Unlike iPhones, where subscription management is centralized through the App Store, Xiaomi can do them in four different ways — and each requires a separate shutdown.
In this article, we will look at all possible sources of write-offs, from subscriptions via Google Play to Mi Account services and mobile operators. Particular attention will be paid to hidden subscriptions that continue to write off money even after the application is removed. And for owners of older models (Redmi Note 5/6, Mi 8/9), we will give alternative methods - many of the features in new versions of MIUI 14/15 are postponed, and the standard instructions no longer work.
We warn you right away: some subscriptions (for example, from MegaFon or Beeline) can continue to charge money even after disconnecting from the phone - they must be blocked through the operator's personal account.
1. How to check active subscriptions to Xiaomi
Before you turn something off, you need to understand which services are charging money from your account. On Xiaomi, subscriptions can be tied to:
- 📱 Google Play (most apps: YouTube Premium, Spotify, games)
- 🔄 Mi Account (branded services: Mi Cloud, Mi Themes, Mi Video VIP)
- 📡 Mobile operator (content subscriptions, antiviruses, unlimited tariffs)
- 💳 Bank card (if linked to Google Pay or Mi Pay)
To see the full list, follow the following steps:
- Open Settings → Google → Manage your Google account.
- Go to the Payments and Subscriptions tab → Subscription Management.
- Check the Mi Account → Subscriptions section (the path may vary depending on the MIUI version).
- Send a USSD- request *111# (for MTS/Beeline) or *105# (for MegaFon/Tele2) to show active operator services.
Attention! Some subscriptions (such as Tinder Gold or Badoo Premium) may hide the tariff information in the basic settings, in which case, check the payment history in the banking application for the keywords: "Google *Play", "MI PAY" or "MOBILE CONTENT".
2. disable subscriptions via Google Play (main method)
Most paid services on Xiaomi are tied to a Google account, and even if you delete the app, the subscription will remain active until it is manually disabled.
- Open the Google Play Store app.
- Slip on the profile avatar in the upper right corner → Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions.
- Select an active subscription from the list.
- Click Unsubscribe and confirm the action.
Check the date of the next write-off
Save your account information (if it is cloud storage)
Remove the app after cancelling the subscription
Check the attached card in Google Pay-->
If the Cancel button is inactive, it may mean:
- 🔒 Subscription is not made through Google Play, but through another service (see the following sections).
- ⏳ You have already cancelled it before, but the expiration period has not expired (debitions will cease after the current cycle).
- 📵 The app has been removed, but the subscription has remained active on Google Account.
Important: Once you cancel your Google Play subscription, it can remain active until the end of the paid period (usually 1 month). To avoid debits, remove the linked card in Google Pay → Settings → Payment Methods.
3. How to disable Mi Account subscriptions (Mi Cloud, Mi Themes, Mi Video)
Xiaomi’s branded services — such as Mi Cloud (cloud storage), Mi Themes (decoration themes) or Mi Video VIP — are managed via Mi Account. They cannot be disabled through Google Play, so many users face repeated write-offs even after deleting apps.
Instructions for MIUI 14/15:
- Open Settings → Accounts and Sync → Mi Account.
- Slip on the avatar → Mi Account → Subscriptions.
- Select an active subscription and click Cancel Autorenewal.
- Confirm the action by SMS or password (if two-factor authentication is enabled).
What if the Subscription section is not in the Mi Account?
Attention! Mi Cloud subscription (50/200GB) is automatically renewed if a bank card is attached to the account, to completely remove data from the cloud after cancellation:
- Go to Settings → Mi Account → Mi Cloud.
- Select Delete Data → Delete Everything.
- Confirm the action with a code from SMS.
4. Disabling subscriptions of the mobile operator (MTS, Beeline, MegaFon, Tele2)
Telecom operators often connect paid services through SMS- newsletters or “partner content” (music, games, antiviruses) that do not appear in the phone settings and require a separate disconnection.
Methods of checking and disconnecting:
| Operator. | USSD- Request for Verification | Method of shutting down |
|---|---|---|
| MTS | *111*08# | Send Stop 0 to 111 or via [personal account](https://login.mts.ru) |
| Beeline | *110*09# | Send Stop to 7878 or My Beeline app |
| MegaFon | *105*00# | Send 0 to 0500 or via [LK MegaFon](https://lk.megafon.ru) |
| Tele2 | *155*1# | Send Stop to 611 or in My Tele2 app |
⚠️ Attention! Some operators (e.g., MTS) block USSD- subscription verification requests if you have an active "unlimited Internet" tariff.
- Call the operator’s hotline (MTS 0890, Beeline 0611).
- Check if you have a “Content Package” or “Premium Access” service.
- Require a full list of active services – operators are required to provide it by law.
💡
If the operator refuses to disable the subscription, write a complaint to [Roskomnadzor] (https://rkn.gov.ru) or [FAS] (https://fas.gov.ru).
5. Hidden subscriptions: how to find and disable
Some apps (especially games and dating services) subscribe via third-party payment systems that are not displayed on Google Play or Mi Accounts.
- 🎮 PUBG Mobile, Free Fire, Genshin Impact (subscriptions to game currency).
- 💘 Tinder, Badoo, Mamba (premium accounts)
- 📺 IVI, Kion, Amediateka (streaming services).
- 🔒 Kaspersky, Dr.Web, Avast (antiviruses).
To find them:
- Check the payment history in the banking application for the following keywords: “PAYMENT” + service name (for example, “PAYMENT TINDER”), “RECURRING” (means regular write-offs), “MOBILE” or “CONTENT” (operator subscriptions).
Revolut
Tinkoff
automatic categorization of payments
noreply@payment.com
billing@service.com
If you find a suspicious write-off:
⚠️ Warning! Some services (e.g. Tinder or Badoo) continue to charge even after the app is removed if the subscription was made through the website.
- Find a confirmation letter (usually sent by email).
- Go to the link "Subscription Management" in the letter.
- If there is no link, go to the service website and cancel your subscription in your personal account.
6 How to block auto payments on Xiaomi forever
To prevent unauthorized write-offs in the future, follow the following steps:
Turn off “Fast Shopping” on Google Play
Delete Linked Cards in Mi Account and Google Pay
Activate two-factor authentication in your Mi Account
Install PIN- code for payments in the banking application-->
1. disable “Quick Shopping” in Google Play:
- Open Google Play → Profile → Settings → Authentication → Require authentication for purchases.
- Choose For all purchases.
2. Deletion of payment methods in Mi Account:
- Go to Settings → Mi Account → Payments and subscriptions.
- Remove all associated cards and payment methods.
3. Blocking SMS-mailings from the operator:
- Send an SMS with STOP text to short numbers: MTS: 111 Beeline: 7878 MegaFon: 0500 Tele2: 611
"Prohibition of Content Services"
4.Use of virtual cards for payment:
Services like Revolut or Tinkoff allow you to create one-time virtual cards to pay for subscriptions, and once the card expires, the card is blocked, and debits are impossible.
💡
Even after you have disabled all subscriptions, check your balance for the first 2-3 months. Some services (such as Apple Music via Google Play) can charge money with a delay.
7 What to do if the money continues to be written off
If you have disabled all subscriptions, but the write-offs continue, proceed according to the following algorithm:
- Check your bank payment history: Find the latest charge and copy the recipient's name, see if it matches Google *Play, MI PAY or the operator's name.
- Dispute the payment: Search the bank application for a transaction → Dispute the payment. Enter the reason: “Unauthorized charge” or “Subscription cancelled, but the money is written off”.
- For Google Play: [https://support.google.com/googleplay](https://support.google.com/googleplay) For Mi Account: [https://account.xiaomi.com](https://account.xiaomi.com) → Feedback For the operator: through your personal account or hotline.
File a complaint with Roskomnadzor:
- If the operator or service refuses to return the money, fill out the form at [https://rkn.gov.ru](https://rkn.gov.ru).
