Where in the smartphone Xiaomi is the calendar: search, recovery and alternatives

The standard Calendar app on Xiaomi smartphones is often lost among other icons or hidden after MIUI updates. Users face a problem when they need to quickly check the schedule, but the icon has disappeared from the home screen or from the app menu. The reasons can be different, from accidental removal to shell failures.

In this article, we’ll look at all possible locations where a Xiaomi calendar might be located (including Redmi, POCO, and Black Shark models), and how to return it to the screen if it’s gone, with a special focus on hidden folders, MIUI settings, and alternative ways to access your schedule through widgets and voice assistant.

If you recently upgraded your firmware or reset your settings to factory, the standard calendar could have moved to an unexpected place, such as the Utility folder or Google. There are also bugs when an application becomes invisible due to cache errors. We will look at solutions for all these cases, including manual restoration through settings and installing third-party counterparts.

Before you jump to search, make sure you don’t confuse the MIUI system calendar with a Google calendar or other third-party app (like Business Calendar).

1. Standard Calendar Locations on Xiaomi

On most Xiaomi devices (including the Redmi Note 12, POCO X5, Mi 11, and others), the standard calendar is in one of three places:

• 📱 Main screen: the icon can be hidden in a folder (most often Utility or Google.
• 📂 App menu: Swipe up from the bottom of the screen and type the word "calendar" in the search box. If the app is installed, it will show up in the results.
• 🔍 "Others" folder: in some versions MIUI (for example, MIUI 14) underused applications are automatically folded into Other (or Rarely Used) folders).

If you don't find the calendar in these places, check the hidden apps.

1. Open Settings → Applications → Application Management.
2. Slip on three dots in the upper right corner and select Show All Apps.
3. In the list, look for Calendar (or Calendar) and make sure it’s not turned off.

Attention! On some models (e.g. Xiaomi 13T for the European market), the standard calendar can be replaced by Google Calendar by default, in which case search for it through the application menu or manually install the system calendar through MIUI Lab.

2. How to return the calendar to the main screen if it is missing

If the application is in the system, but it is not on the home screen, you can restore it in two ways:

Method 1: Drag from the application menu

1. Open the app menu (swipe up from the bottom of the screen).
2. Find the calendar through search or manually.
3. Press the icon and drag it to the main screen or folder.

Method 2: Create a shortcut through a widget

1. Click the empty space on the home screen and select Widgets.
2. Find the calendar widget (usually 4×2 or 4×1).
3. Drag it onto the screen – this will automatically create an app shortcut.

If the calendar isn't displayed in the app menu, it may have been disabled to turn it back on:

1. Go to Settings → Applications → Application Management.
2. Find the calendar in the list and tap it.
3. Click Enable if the button is active.

3. Calendar search through MIUI system tools

If standard methods don’t work, use the built-in MIUI tools:

Method 1: Search through Quick Search

Swipe down the home screen to open the search bar, and type "calendar" and the system will show not only the app, but also associated settings, events and contacts with birth dates.

Method 2: Voice assistant Xiao AI

Activate the voice assistant (hold the home button or say "Hey, Xiao AI") and say:

Open the calendar or show me my events for today.

If the assistant finds the application but it doesn’t open, it means that the calendar is deleted or corrupted (see section 5).

Method 3: Synchronization settings

Sometimes the calendar goes "disappears" because you're not syncing with your Mi or Google account.

1. Open Settings → Accounts and Synchronization.
2. Choose your Xiaomi or Google account.
3. Make sure the switch next to the Calendar is on.

All calendar events and reminders are stored in two places:

1. Local database: files are stored in the system folder /data/data/com.android.calendar (access only with root rights).
2. Cloud Storage: If synchronization is enabled, the data is duplicated on Xiaomi or Google servers.

To check if your events are saved:

1. Open Settings → Accounts and Synchronization.
2. Select the account that your calendar is synced to.
3. See the date of the last synchronization under the Calendar item.

Attention! If you reset your phone to factory settings without backing up, local calendar data will be lost, and can only be restored through the cloud (if sync has been enabled).

5 What to do if the calendar is deleted or not working

If the standard Calendar application is not in the system, two reasons are possible:

1. The application is disabled: it can be enabled through settings (see section 2).
2. Application removed: this is only possible with root rights or after incorrect MIUI update.

How to restore a remote calendar:

1. Install. APK-calendar file for your version MIUI (You can download it on the forums XDA Developers or 4PDA).
2. Use an alternative: 📅 Google Calendar (preinstalled on most devices). 📱 Business Calendar (Extended features, sync with Google). 🔄 DigiCal Calendar (support for widgets and themes).

Settings → About the phone → Resetting settings

Attention, installation APK-files from unverified sources can lead to data leakage or conflicts with the system.

If the calendar disappears after each update MIUI, Turn off automatic updates for system applications in Settings → The phone. → Updating the system → Settings (⚙) → Auto-update of applications.

6. Alternative ways to view the calendar

If a standard calendar is not available, use alternative methods:

1.The widget on the main screen

Even if the app itself is hidden, the widget can work.

1. Click the empty space on the main screen.
2. Pick the Widgets.
3. Find the calendar widget (usually from Google or MIUI) and drag it to the screen.
