In this article, we will analyze all possible storage locations of records, from standard folders to hidden system directories, and explain why sometimes files “disappear” and how to restore them.

The manufacturer doesn't always make access to records obvious: depending on the model (Redmi Note 12, POCO X5, Mi 11) and the version of MIUI, the path to files may differ. In addition, some records are stored not in the phone's memory, but in the cloud - and this also needs to be considered. If you've never set up a conversation record specifically, first check if the feature is enabled at all.In some regions, it's disabled by default due to legal restrictions.

1. Standard Storage Place: Records folder in the file manager

In most cases, the call records on Xiaomi are stored in the Rec or CallRecord folder in the device's internal memory.

Internal memory → MIUI → sound_recorder → call_rec

How to get there:

1. Open the Files app** (the folder icon on the desktop).
2. Go to the Device tab (not the Device tab). SD-map!).

2. Cloud Storage: Mi Cloud and Google Drive

Many users are surprised when they don’t find a record in their phone’s memory, even though they remember exactly what they were recording, and the reason is often because of cloud services: Xiaomi can automatically sync records with the Mi Cloud (if the feature is enabled).

How to check out Mi Cloud:

If you use Google Drive for backup, records can be stored there in the Backup → Calls section, however, this only works when you manually set up sync through the Dictator app (if installed).

1. Launch the Dictophone app** (Mic icon).
2. Go to the Records or Calls tab (depending on the MIUI version).
3. Sort files by date to find the right one faster.

Note that in this application, the records can be automatically transcribed into text (if the voice recognition function is enabled in the settings) and the transcriptions are stored in the same folder, but in.txt format.

4. Hidden system folders: where Android-level records are stored

If you didn't find entries in standard locations, they could have been saved in one of the hidden system folders. These directories don't usually show up in the file manager without enabling developer mode or root rights, but they can be accessed through ADB or special applications (such as FX File Explorer).

Important: files in /data/ folder are deleted when the phone is reset to factory settings, even if you haven't formatted the internal memory! If you're planning a reset, first extract the records via ADB:

5. Third-party Call Recording Apps: Where They Store Files

If you're using third-party apps like Cube Call Recorder, ACR or Boldbeast, the path to recordings is different, usually in the settings of the app itself, but there are also typical places:

6 How to Recover Deleted Records of Conversations

If you accidentally delete a record, don't despair, you can try to restore it. Success depends on how long it has been since you deleted it and whether memory cleanup features (such as MIUI Optimization) have been used since then.

7 Why recordings of conversations may not be saved

Sometimes users find that calls are not recorded at all or files are not saved, the reasons can be both software and hardware:

8 Legal Aspects: Can You Record Conversations on Xiaomi?

Before you enable automatic recording of all calls, please read your country's laws. Most regions only allow recording of conversations with the consent of the person involved.
