You've been looking for Xiaomi phone records, but you haven't found them in the standard Phone app? No wonder the automatic MIUI call recorder doesn't work, and the files are hidden in unexpected folders. In this article, we'll look at all the possible storage locations, from the official Mi Recorder app to system directories, where the records are saved when you manually enable the function.
Important: the methods differ depending on the smartphone model (Redmi Note 12, POCO X5, Mi 11, etc.), the MIUI version (13, 14, HyperOS) and the firmware region (global, Chinese, European). We tested the instructions on current devices from 2023-2026 and indicated the nuances for each case. 1. Standard application "Dictophon" (Mi Recorder)
On most Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO smartphones, the default call recordings are stored in the Mi Recorder app, which looks like a microphone on an orange background.
- 📱 Open the Dictaphone app (if not, install it from Google Play or the App Store) MIUI).
- 🔍 Go to the Call Records tab (on some firmware it is called Call Recordings).
- 📂 Files are sorted by date -- the last recording will be on top. Click on it to listen.
- 📤 To export the record, click ⋮ → Share or Save to Files.

If the Dictophone app is not available, check the MIUI/Recorder folder in internal memory through any file manager (e.g. Files by Google or Mi File Manager).
2. folder MIUI/sound_recorder inner-memory
If you have manually enabled the recording of calls (through a button during a conversation), the files are saved to a hidden system folder to find it:
- Open any file manager (e.g., Mi File Manager or Total Commander).
- Go to the root directory of internal memory (called the internal drive or internal storage).
- Open the folder. MIUI, later sound_recorder → call_rec.
- The files are.amr or.mp3 name rec_20260515_143022 (date).
On the firmware MIUI 14+ HyperOS may be different: check the folder MIUI/voice_recorder/calls or Android/media/com.miui.voicerecord. If the folder is not, the records are not kept or stored elsewhere (see section below). 4).

3.Mi Cloud Cloud Storage
If your Xiaomi has Mi Cloud sync enabled, call records can automatically be uploaded to the cloud.
- 🌐 Go to i.mi.com and log in.
- 📁 Go to the Files section. → Records (or Voice).
- 🔍 Use the date filter to find the file you want.
- 📥 Click on the recording to download it to your computer.
⚠️ Warning: The free version of Mi Cloud only stores 5GB of data. If the space is over, the new records will not sync. Check the sync settings in Settings → Xiaomi account → Mi Cloud → Synchronization.
4. Third-party applications for recording calls
If standard methods didn’t work, you may be using a third-party app to record conversations (like Cube ACR, Call Recorder or Boldbeast).
- 📲 Open the app that recorded the calls.
- 📂 Go to the History or Recordings section.
- 🔎 Find the right conversation by number or date.
- 📤 Export the entry in a convenient format (for example,.mp3 or wav).

5. How to turn on call recording if it doesn't work
If you can't find the recordings, maybe the function is just not activated.
- Open the phone application (green handset).
- Press. ⋮ → Settings → Recording calls.
- Choose Record automatically or Record manually.
- Specify which calls to record: All, outgoing or incoming only.
⚠️ Note: Xiaomi with firmware for the European Union (EEA) Automatic recording feature may be blocked due to data protection laws (GDPR). In this case, use third-party applications.

6.Recovering deleted call records
If the records were deleted accidentally, you can try to restore them.
- 🛠 Use data recovery software such as DiskDigger (for Android), Recuva (if you connect your phone to a PC), EaseUS MobiSaver (specialty software).
- 📱 Connect your phone to your computer in File Transfer mode (MTP).
- 🔍 Scan internal memory for files with.amr extension,.mp3 or.m4a.
