Where to look for Xiaomi call records: all ways for Redmi, POCO and Mi

You've been looking for Xiaomi phone records, but you haven't found them in the standard Phone app? No wonder the automatic MIUI call recorder doesn't work, and the files are hidden in unexpected folders. In this article, we'll look at all the possible storage locations, from the official Mi Recorder app to system directories, where the records are saved when you manually enable the function.

Important: the methods differ depending on the smartphone model (Redmi Note 12, POCO X5, Mi 11, etc.), the MIUI version (13, 14, HyperOS) and the firmware region (global, Chinese, European). We tested the instructions on current devices from 2023-2026 and indicated the nuances for each case. If your Xiaomi does not record calls at all, at the end of the article there is a section on how to configure this feature.

1. Standard application "Dictophon" (Mi Recorder)

On most Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO smartphones, the default call recordings are stored in the Mi Recorder app, which looks like a microphone on an orange background.

  • ๐Ÿ“ฑ Open the Dictaphone app (if not, install it from Google Play or the App Store) MIUI).
  • ๐Ÿ” Go to the Call Records tab (on some firmware it is called Call Recordings).
  • ๐Ÿ“‚ Files are sorted by date -- the last recording will be on top. Click on it to listen.
  • ๐Ÿ“ค To export the record, click โ‹ฎ โ†’ Share or Save to Files.

โš ๏ธ Note: On Chinese firmware (China) ROM) The tab with the call records may not be available, in which case use the methods in the following sections.

๐Ÿ’ก

If the Dictophone app is not available, check the MIUI/Recorder folder in internal memory through any file manager (e.g. Files by Google or Mi File Manager).

2. folder MIUI/sound_recorder inner-memory

If you have manually enabled the recording of calls (through a button during a conversation), the files are saved to a hidden system folder to find it:

  1. Open any file manager (e.g., Mi File Manager or Total Commander).
  2. Go to the root directory of internal memory (called the internal drive or internal storage).
  3. Open the folder. MIUI, later sound_recorder โ†’ call_rec.
  4. The files are.amr or.mp3 name rec_20260515_143022 (date).

On the firmware MIUI 14+ HyperOS may be different: check the folder MIUI/voice_recorder/calls or Android/media/com.miui.voicerecord. If the folder is not, the records are not kept or stored elsewhere (see section below). 4).

MIUI versionThe path to call recordsFile format
MIUI 12โ€“13MIUI/sound_recorder/call_rec.amr (mono, 8 kHz)
MIUI 14MIUI/voice_recorder/calls.mp3 (stereo, 16 kHz)
HyperOSAndroid/media/com.miui.voicerecord.m4a (AAC, 48 kHz)

3.Mi Cloud Cloud Storage

If your Xiaomi has Mi Cloud sync enabled, call records can automatically be uploaded to the cloud.

  • ๐ŸŒ Go to i.mi.com and log in.
  • ๐Ÿ“ Go to the Files section. โ†’ Records (or Voice).
  • ๐Ÿ” Use the date filter to find the file you want.
  • ๐Ÿ“ฅ Click on the recording to download it to your computer.

โš ๏ธ Warning: The free version of Mi Cloud only stores 5GB of data. If the space is over, the new records will not sync. Check the sync settings in Settings โ†’ Xiaomi account โ†’ Mi Cloud โ†’ Synchronization.

๐Ÿ“Š Where do you usually look for call records?

4. Third-party applications for recording calls

If standard methods didnโ€™t work, you may be using a third-party app to record conversations (like Cube ACR, Call Recorder or Boldbeast).

  • ๐Ÿ“ฒ Open the app that recorded the calls.
  • ๐Ÿ“‚ Go to the History or Recordings section.
  • ๐Ÿ”Ž Find the right conversation by number or date.
  • ๐Ÿ“ค Export the entry in a convenient format (for example,.mp3 or wav).

Popular applications and their storage paths:

  • ๐ŸŽค Cube ACR: /CubeACR/ (memory).
  • ๐Ÿ“ž Call Recorder by Lovekesh: /CallRecorder/.
  • ๐Ÿ”Š Boldbeast: /Boldbeast Recorder/ (manually adjusted).
Why Xiaomi doesnโ€™t show entries in a standard app?
On some firmware (especially Chinese) the call recording function is disabled at the system level due to local privacy laws. Also, records may not be displayed if: - You used a third-party application. - Files were deleted during the cache cleaning. - The record folder is hidden (enable the display of hidden files in the file manager).

If the records were deleted accidentally, you can try to restore them.

  • ๐Ÿ›  Use data recovery software such as DiskDigger (for Android), Recuva (if you connect your phone to a PC), EaseUS MobiSaver (specialty software).
  • ๐Ÿ“ฑ Connect your phone to your computer in File Transfer mode (MTP).
  • ๐Ÿ” Scan internal memory for files with.amr extension,.mp3 or.m4a.

๐Ÿ’ก Tip: The faster you start recovering, the better the chances of returning files. After deleting, do not write new data to your phone (do not install apps, do not take photos).

๐Ÿ’ก

Standard call records on Xiaomi are stored in.amr (mono, low quality) or.mp3 (stereo). If you use third-party apps, the format can be.wav or.m4a with better quality.
