At first glance, Xiaomi Cloud may seem like another analogue of Google Drive or iCloud, but in fact it is closely related to MIUI proprietary software and offers unique features for owners of Xiaomi equipment. Here you can not only reserve photos or contacts, but also synchronize settings between devices, manage a smart home or even find a lost smartphone. However, the service has its pitfalls, from volume restrictions to privacy issues. In this guide, we will discuss in detail how Xiaomi Cloud works, what data should (and should not) be uploaded there, and how to use all its features.

What is Xiaomi Cloud and how did it come about?

Xiaomi Cloud (or Mi Cloud, as the service was previously called) is a cloud platform launched by Xiaomi in 2012 as a response to the growing popularity of similar solutions from Apple and Google. Initially, the service was positioned as a tool for backing up data from smartphones based on MIUI, but over time its functionality has expanded significantly.

Xiaomi Cloud: What can be stored and synced

Xiaomi Cloud offers a wide range of features, but not all users are fully aware of them. Let’s take a look at the key features of the service that can be useful in everyday life.

1. Data backup

One of the main features of Xiaomi Cloud is the ability to create full smartphone backups, including:
