Have you turned on a call recording on your Xiaomi Redmi but canโt find the file? Or want to check if the automatic records are saved to the cloud? In this article, weโll take a look at all the possible locations for storing call records on Redmi smartphones, from standard folders in the deviceโs memory to hidden directories of third-party applications.
The problem with finding records often arises because of the fact that MIUI It uses non-obvious storage paths and can redirect files depending on the firmware version, phone model and settings of the Phone app.+ s MIUI 15 records are saved in one place by default, and on Redmi 10C s MIUI 13 in another, and if you use third-party recording apps (like Cube Call Recorder or something like that) ACR), Files can be in completely unexpected folders.
Not only will we list all possible locations, but we will also explain how to change the save location, why records may disappear, and what to do if files are not played. At the end of the article, we will provide an FAQ with answers to the most frequent questions of Xiaomi Redmi users.
Standard place to save records in MIUI
By default, the Phone app in MIUI stores call records to the device's internal memory. The path depends on the firmware version:
- ๐ MIUI 12โ14: /storage/emulated/0/MIUI/sound_recorder/call_rec/
- ๐ MIUI 15: /storage/emulated/0/Recordings/Call/ (global version)
- ๐ Chinese firmware: /storage/emulated/0/MIUI/voice_recorder/call/
Record files are formatted.m4a (AAC) or.amr and named by template: call_[date [time] [number] [number].m4a. For example: call_20260515_143022_+79123456789.m4a.
โ ๏ธ Note: If you connect your phone to your computer MTP (Media Transfer Protocol and have not seen the folder MIUI or Recordings, check the settings for displaying hidden files in Explorer Windows/macOS. V MIUI These folders are not hidden, but some file managers (such as Total Commander) may ignore them.

To quickly find records, open the Files app on Redmi, go to Audio and sort files by date of creation. Call records will usually be at the top of the list.
| Model Redmi | MIUI version | The path to the records | File format |
|---|---|---|---|
| Redmi Note 12/13 | 14-15 (global) | /Recordings/Call/ | .m4a |
| Redmi 10/11 | 12โ13 (global) | /MIUI/sound_recorder/call_rec/ | .amr |
| Redmi K50/K60 | 14 (Chinese) | /MIUI/voice_recorder/call/ | .m4a or.aac |
| Redmi 9/9A | 11โ12 | /recorder/calls/ | .amr |
Cloud entries: Xiaomi Cloud and Google Drive
If your Redmi is synced to Xiaomi Cloud, call records can automatically be uploaded to the cloud, but only if two conditions are met:
- In the settings of the application "Phone" activated option Autoupload records to the cloud (available not on all firmware).
- You have enough space in Xiaomi Cloud (free 5GB).
To check the records in the cloud:
- Open Settings โ Xiaomi Cloud โ Device โ [your Redmi name].
- Select the Call Records section (if any).
- Or go to i.mi.com โ Cloud Storage โ Other files.
โ ๏ธ Attention: Starting with MIUI 14, Xiaomi has restricted the automatic uploading of call records to the cloud for users in the EU and some other regions due to privacy laws (GDPR). If you have a global firmware, this functionality can be disabled.

Alternatively, Google Drive, some users set up automatic download of the record folder through the Google Drive app:
- ๐ Open Google Drive โ Settings โ Backup.
- ๐ Select a folder. /Recordings/Call/ or /MIUI/sound_recorder/call_rec/.
- โ๏ธ Enable the option of autoboot over Wi-Fi.
Third-party applications for writing: where to look for files
If you are using third-party programs (such as Cube Call Recorder ACR, Call Recorder by Lovakara or Truecaller), the ways of saving will be different.
| Annex | The path to the records | Features |
|---|---|---|
| Cube ACR | /storage/emulated/0/CubeBackup/CallRecordings/ | Files in.mp3, sorted by contacts |
| Call Recorder by Lovakara | /storage/emulated/0/CallRecordings/ | Support for cloud services (Dropbox, OneDrive) |
| Truecaller | /storage/emulated/0/Truecaller/Recordings/ | Records for premium users only |
| Call Recorder โ Automatic | /storage/emulated/0/CallRecorder/ | File compression settings |
๐ How to find files:
- Open the file manager (e.g. Files by Google or the standard Files app on Redmi).
- Enable the display of hidden folders (in the manager settings).
- Use the search for keywords: call, record, recording.
โ ๏ธ Note: Some applications (e.g. Cube) ACR) They can save the recordings in encrypted form, and to listen to them, you need to use the built-in player of the same application, and trying to open the file through a standard player will lead to an error.

Why Call Records Are Lost or Not Saved
If you have enabled a record but the files are not in the expected folder, the reasons may be as follows:
- ๐ซ Lack of permission to record: In Android 10+ Applications need separate permission to record sound. โ Annexes โ Permits โ Microphone.
- ๐ Optimizing the battery: MIUI aggressively closes the background processes. Add the write app to the exceptions: โ Battery โ Optimizing the battery โ All applications โ [select the application] โ No restrictions.
- ๐ฑ Firmware limitations: Some Redmi models (e.g. Redmi Note 11 Pro)+) Call recording is blocked at the core level due to the laws of the countries of sale (India, EU).
- ๐๏ธ Autoclean: Phone App Settings may include the option to Delete Records Over 30 Days.
On Redmi with firmware for India (marked "IN" in the model number), recording calls through a standard application is impossible due to local laws, in which case only third-party software with a voice-activated recording function (for example, Boldbeast Call Recorder) will help.
๐ ๏ธ How to Recover Missing Records:
- Check the /storage/emulated/0/Recycle/ folder โ sometimes the files get to the bin.
- Use data recovery software (DiskDigger, Recuva), but only if no more than 2-3 days have passed since the deletion.
- Check backups in Google Drive or Xiaomi Cloud (if sync was enabled).

How to Change the Place of Records Saving
By default, MIUI does not allow you to select an arbitrary folder for records, but there are workarounds:
Method 1: Symbolic link (for advanced users)
If you have root access, you can create a symbolic link to another folder (for example, to the SD-map):
su
ln -s /storage/emulated/0/Recordings/Call /storage/EXTERNAL_SD/CallRecordingsAfter that, all new records will be duplicated on the memory card.
Method 2: Automatically move through Tasker
With the Tasker app, you can configure a task that will move files from a standard folder to any other:
- Create a task with a trigger File created (indicate the path /Recordings/Call/).
- Add the action Move the file to the desired folder.
- Launch the task.
Method 3: Use third-party software
Applications like Cube ACR or Call Recorder by Lovakara let you select the save folder in the settings:
- ๐ Open the application settings.
- ๐ Go to the Storage or Records folder section.
- ๐ Choose. SD-map.
๐ก
You can't change the save location through standard MIUI settings. Use either root methods or third-party applications with flexible settings.

- Install Cube Call Recorder ACR from Google Play.
- In the application settings, select the VOIP recording method or Loud Communication.
- Provide all necessary permissions (microphone, access to calls).
๐ Important: In Android 12+ Google has tightened its audio recording rules, and some apps may require permission to access notifications (to track the start of a call) and special rights (for example, a new Google application, android.permission.CAPTURE_AUDIO_OUTPUT, which is not available for regular applications).
