You downloaded an album from Yandex Music to your Xiaomi Redmi, but you can't find files in the gallery or the explorer? This problem is familiar to many users - the service does not always show a clear path to downloaded tracks, and the MIUI system sometimes hides them in non-obvious folders. In this article, we will analyze all possible places of music storage, including hidden directories, learn how to find them through built-in and third-party tools, and explain why files can disappear after updating the application.
The peculiarity of Yandex Music is that it saves tracks not as regular MP3s, but in an encrypted format (with the.ym extension). This complicates the search, but does not make it impossible. We will look in detail where to look for music on models of Redmi Note 10/11/12, Redmi 9/10/12C and others, and also what to do if the folder is empty or files are not played. For convenience, we added screenshots of the MIUI 13/14 interface and a table with paths for different versions of the application.
Standard folders for music from Yandex Music on Xiaomi
By default, Yandex Music saves downloaded tracks to one of the system folders of internal memory. The path depends on the version of the application and the operating system. On Xiaomi Redmi with MIUI, most often this:
- π Main folder: /storage/emulated/0/Android/data/ru.yandex.music/files/Music/ β Here are stored tracks in.ym format (encrypted).
- π Cash app: /storage/emulated/0/Android/data/ru.yandex.music/cache/ β temporary files that may contain album covers or track fragments.
- π΅ Export folder: If you used the function "Save as" MP3Β» (available in a premium account, files can be stored in /storage/emulated/0/Music/YandexMusic/.
Important: on some MIUI firmware, the path may not start with /storage/emulated/0/, but with /sdcard/, which are the same, just different internal memory designations, and the Android/data/ folder is often hidden from the user, so you need to include it in the conductor settings.

If you donβt see the Android folder in Explorer, open the file manager settings (three dots in the upper right corner) and enable the βShow Hidden Filesβ option.
On Redmi with a memory card (microSD), the music is stored by default in internal memory, but the path can be changed in the Yandex Music settings.
- Open the app and tap on the avatar in the upper right corner.
- Go to Settings. β Memory.
- Select a Memory Card (if installed).
Why music is not displayed in a gallery or player
Even if files are downloaded, they may not show up in standard MIUI applications for several reasons:
- File format:.ym tracks are not recognized by most players (including Google Play Music or Mi Music) and can only be heard through Yandex Music.
- Hidden folders: Android/data/ system directories are hidden by default in MIUI Explorer.
- Caching: The application may not have time to update the media library after downloading.
- Synchronization errors: If the download is interrupted, the files may be corrupted.
To check if tracks are actually downloaded, use a root file manager (such as Solid Explorer or FX File Explorer) or connect your phone to your computer via USB in file transfer mode (MTP) and check folders manually.
β οΈ Note: If you delete the folder ru.yandex.music manually, the application may start to work incorrectly. β Annexes β Yandex Music β Memory. β Clear the cache.
How to transfer music from Yandex Music to another folder
If you want to listen to tracks outside of Yandex Music, you need to convert them to MP3 or transfer them to an accessible folder.
Find the file. /Android/data/ru.yandex.music/files/Music/|Copy files with the.ym extension into a folder /Music/|Rename the extension from.ym to.ym.mp3 (Only for premium users)|Check the playback in any player-->
For users without a premium subscription, there is a workaround:
- Download the tracks in Yandex Music (they will be saved as.ym).
- Connect your phone to your PC and find the music folder.
- Copy the files to the computer.
- Use an online converter (such as Online-Convert) to convert to MP3.
- Return the files to the phone in the /Music/ folder.
An alternative way is to use applications like YMusic, which allows you to download tracks directly to MP3, but such programs may violate the terms of use of the service, so use them at your own risk.
β οΈ Note: Converting.ym files to MP3 without a premium account may infringe copyrights.
Where to find music on different versions of MIUI and Android
The path to files may vary depending on the version of MIUI and Android. Below is a table with the current data for popular firmware Xiaomi Redmi:
| MIUI version | Android version | The Road to Music | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| MIUI 12.5 | Android 10/11 | /storage/emulated/0/Android/data/ru.yandex.music/files/Music/ | The folder is hidden, you need to enable the display of system files. |
| MIUI 13 | Android 12 | /storage/emulated/0/Android/media/ru.yandex.music/Music/ | Some devices have changed their path due to Scoped Storage. |
| MIUI 14 | Android 13 | /storage/emulated/0/Android/media/ru.yandex.music/ | Files can be stored in subfolders by album name. |
| MIUI for POCO | Android 11/12 | /sdcard/Android/data/ru.yandex.music/files/ | On POCO, the path can start with /sdcard/ instead of /storage/. |
If your version of MIUI is not listed in the table, try searching by folder.
- Open a file manager (e.g. Files by Google).
- In the search bar, enter ru.yandex.music.
- Check the folders found for.ym files.

Since Android 11, Google has tightened its rules for accessing app folders, so viewing /Android/data/ may require root or a dedicated explorer (such as Mixplorer).
What to do if the music disappears after the update
Sometimes, after the Yandex Music or MIUI update, downloaded tracks "disappear."
- π App update: The new version can transfer files to another directory. check the paths from the table above.
- ποΈ Cache cleanup: If you cleared the app data, the music will be deleted. Try downloading the tracks again.
- π± Resetting: After resetting to factory settings, all uploaded files are erased.
- π Change of access rights: On Android 11+ Apps are not allowed to access other people's folders. Try reinstalling Yandex Music.
If the music is missing for no apparent reason, check out:
- Files via PC (plug your phone in MTP mode).
- Free space on the device β if there is a lack of memory, MIUI can automatically delete the cache.
- Synchronization settings in Yandex account β sometimes tracks βdisappearβ due to authorization failure.
