Accidental deletion of an important image is a stressful situation familiar to many owners of Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco smartphones. Often we rush to make room or accidentally hit the screen, and valuable footage disappears from the Gallery. Fortunately, the Android operating system and the MIUI shell (or HyperOS) provide several levels of data protection, allowing you to return files without loss of quality.
The first minutes after a missing person is discovered are critical to the success of the operation. The fewer actions you take with the device, the more likely it is that the memory sectors where the image was stored will not be overwritten with new information. In this article, we will examine all the current methods, from the built-in basket to the use of specialized software.
It should be noted that the effectiveness of each method depends on how long ago the picture was taken and what synchronization settings were activated on your smartphone. We will consider both the standard system tools and external tools that can help in a difficult situation.

Check the built-in basket in the MIUI Gallery
The easiest and fastest way to return an image is to check the system folder “Deleted”: the MIUI and HyperOS shells by default save deleted media files in a special buffer for 30 days.
At the bottom of the album list, you'll find a folder called Deleted or Recently Deleted, and you'll find all the files you've erased but haven't cleaned completely inside, and you can pick up the right photo, click Restore, and it'll go back to the main album, Camera, or All Photos.

Recovery via Google Photos
Many Android users use Google Photos as their main gallery. Even if you prefer the standard Xiaomi gallery, the Google Photos app often runs in the background and backs up. This is one of the most reliable ways to data.
Open the Google Photos app and check the Library → Recycle Bin section, where files are stored for 60 days if they were uploaded to the cloud, or 30 days if they are just local remote copies, find the right picture, pinch it with your finger, and select the Recover option.
If the photo is not in the cart, try changing the date in the search filter. Sometimes it happens that the image is not deleted, but simply lost in the shared tape due to a malfunction of indexing or changing the date of shooting. Type in the search "Screenshots", "Video" or the name of the place where the picture was taken.
