Shifting calendar data between Xiaomi smartphones can seem like a trivial task — until you encounter the nuances of MIUI, firmware versions, or account features. Many users lose events when changing devices, experience duplicate recordings, or can’t find stored reminders at all, most often because of the wrong method of synchronizing or ignoring default settings.
In this article, we will discuss 5 proven ways to transfer a calendar, from standard (via Mi Account and Google) to alternative (local backup and third-party services), focusing on the hidden MIUI settings that affect the visibility of events, and the typical errors that cause data to “disappear” after switching to the new Xiaomi. If you have already tried to sync the calendar, but events do not appear, here you will find a solution.
Spoiler: The most reliable method depends on which calendar you used before. If it was a built-in MIUI calendar (with a book icon), Mi Account is a must. If you used Google Calendar, you just need to log in to a new device, and for those who store data locally, you have to back up manually.
1.Move over Mi Account: Official way for MIUI
If you used the standard Xiaomi Calendar app (with a yellow icon and Mi logo), then all events are automatically linked to your Mi Account. This method works on all devices with MIUI 12 and newer, but there are important nuances:
First, sync should be active on the old smartphone. You can check this in Settings → Accounts → Mi Account → Data Sync. If the slider next to the Calendar is turned off, events will not save in the cloud. Second, on the new Xiaomi, you need to log into the same Mi Account and wait for the sync to complete (it can take up to 10 minutes).
Transfer algorithm:
- On the old Xiaomi, open Settings → Accounts → Mi Account.
- Make sure that there is a tick next to the “Calendar” (if not, turn it on).
- On the new device, log in to the same Mi Account when you first enable or through Settings → Accounts.
- Open the Calendar app and wait for events to appear (a reboot may be required).
⚠️ Note: If you reset your old smartphone to factory settings before the data transfer, calendar events will be lost. Mi Account syncs only the data that was on the device at the time of the last authorization.

2. Synchronization through Google Calendar: a universal method
If you've used Google Calendar (an app with a white icon and a color logo), it's even easier to transfer it, just by logging into the same Google account on the new Xiaomi.
The fact is that MIUI, by default, hides Google Calendar events in the standard Calendar app, and you need to see them:
- Open the calendar on a new device.
- Slip on three dots in the upper right corner → “Calendar Management”.
- Find your Google account in the list and enable the display (the slider must be active).
If there are no events even after that, check:
- 🔄 Syncing in Google account: Settings → Accounts. → Google → Synchronization of the account → turn on the calendar».
- 📱 Application version: some Xiaomi firmware requires updating the “Calendar” through Google Play.
- 🌐 Regional settings: If the region on Google and smartphone do not match, events may not appear.
💡
If you have duplicated events after synchronization, open the web version of Google Calendar (calendar.google.com) and manually delete the duplicate entries. MIUI sometimes creates copies when you first connect your account.
3. Local backup transfer: for those who do not use the cloud
If you've never synced with either Mi Account or Google, the calendar data is stored locally on the device, in which case you'll have to back up manually, and it works for all Xiaomis, but requires access to the file system.
Instructions for MIUI 14 and newer:
- On an old smartphone, open Settings → About Phone → Backup and Reset → Local Backup.
- Select “Calendar” in the data list and click “Backup”.
- The backup file will be saved in the MIUI/backup/AllBackup folder (you can copy it to a PC or flash drive).
- On the new Xiaomi, transfer the backup file to the same folder and restore through Settings → Backup → Restore.
⚠️ Note: Local backup does not save recurring events (such as birthdays or weekly appointments) and may not work if the devices are different. MIUI (for example, backup MIUI 13 won't recover on MIUI 14).
| Transfer method | Supports recurring events | It works without the internet. | Compatibility between MIUI versions |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mi Account | ✅ Yes. | ❌ No. | ✅ Yes (MIUI 12+) |
| Google Calendar | ✅ Yes. | ❌ No. | ✅ Yes (any version) |
| Local backup | ❌ No. | ✅ Yes. | ❌ No (only the same versions) MIUI) |
| Exports to.ics | ✅ Yes. | ✅ Yes. | ✅ Yes. |
4.Export and import via file.ics: for advanced users
If you need to migrate the calendar selectively or to a device with other firmware (e.g. Xiaomi to Samsung), the best way to do this is to export to the universal.ics format. This method works for both backup and port to your PC.
How to export your calendar with Xiaomi:
- Open the web version of Google Calendar (if you use it) or Mi Cloud (for the built-in calendar).
- Find the Export option (in Google it is in calendar settings, in Mi Cloud – in the Data Management section).
- Download the.ics file to your computer or directly to your smartphone.
How to import to the new Xiaomi:
- Open the Calendar app → three points → Import/Export.
- Select the.ics file from the device’s memory.
- Specify your target calendar (for example, “Personal” or Google).
✅ The advantage of the method: the.ics file can be edited in a text editor (for example, delete unnecessary events) or imported into Outlook, Apple Calendar and other services.

5.Transfer through third-party apps: When nothing helps
If standard methods don’t work (e.g. events don’t sync due to Mi Account failure or backup is corrupted), you can use third-party apps.
- 📅 Business Calendar 2: supports import/export to.ics, sync with Google, Outlook and Exchange.
- 🔄 Sync for iCloud: If you use iCloud alongside Xiaomi, this app syncs calendars between platforms.
- 📱 Calendar Backup: Creates calendar backups to the cloud or locally, restores to any Android device.
🔹 Important: Before using third-party apps, turn off the automatic synchronization of the built-in calendar (Settings) → Accounts. → Mi Account/Google → Calendar synchronization: Otherwise, data conflicts may arise.
Example of Business Calendar Transfer 2:
- Install the app on both Xiaomis.
- On the old device, export the calendar to the file (Settings → Import / Export → Export to File).
- Transfer the file to your new smartphone (via Bluetooth, Telegram or the cloud).
- On the new device, import the file through the same application.
💡
The app side is the only way to move the calendar if the old Xiaomi has a broken screen or it doesn’t turn on (it’s enough to extract the backup file via TWRP or a PC connection).
Typical problems and their solutions
Even after the correct portability, Xiaomi users often face problems: events do not display, duplicate or get dates confused.
Problem 1: Calendar is empty after synchronization.
- 🔍 Check the visibility of calendars: in the app “Calendar” tap on three points → «Manage calendars" and enable display for the desired account.
- 🔄 Update the data: in Settings → Accounts. → Mi Account/Google Turn off and turn on calendar synchronization again.
- 📱 Reinstall the app: sometimes it helps to remove Calendar updates through Settings → Annexes → Calendar → Three points. → Remove updates.
Problem 2: Repeated events are duplicated.
⚠️ Note: Doubles occur if both Mi Account and Google are active on the device at the same time.Solution: select one main calendar and disable the sync of the second in Settings → Accounts.
Problem 3: Events are lost by 1 day (time zone problem).
- ⏰ Check the time settings: Settings → Additionally. → Date and time → Enable “Date and Time Autodetermination” and “Time Zone Autodetermination».
- 🌍 Make sure that the Google Calendar has the correct time zone (web version) → Settings → Time zone).
