If the card has been used in a camera or other phone before, format it via a PC (not a smartphone!)
- Connect the card to the computer through the card reader.
- Open this computer. → Right-click on the right-click button SD-map → Format.
- Select the exFAT file system (for cards >32 GB) or FAT32 (for cards ≤32 GB).
- Click Start and wait until it is completed.
⚠️ Warning: Formatting will remove all data from the card! If it has important files, pre-copy them on the PC.
2.Insertion SD-Maps in Redmi 9: step-by-step instructions
The memory card slot in Redmi 9 is located on the left end of the case (near the volume buttons).
- Turn off your phone (required!).
- Take a paper clip or a special key from the kit, insert the tray into the hole and gently press so that the tray is pushed out.

⚠️ Note: If you select the Internal Memory mode, the card will be formatted and cannot be read on other devices without resetting the Redmi 9 settings!

4. Transfer of files and applications to SD-map
If you have configured the card as a portable storage, you can transfer files manually or automatically:
Method 1: Through the MIUI file manager
- Open the Files app (the folder icon on the desktop).
- Go to the Internal Memory section.
- Select files / folders (click on the file → tick the necessary ones).
- Press Move Move Move. → choose SD-map → specify the destination folder.
Method 2: Automatically save photo/video to the map
To ensure that new photos and videos are immediately saved to the SD-map:
- Open the camera. → press on ⚙️ Settings.
- Select the Conservation Folder → SD-map.
- Create a folder (like Camera) or select an existing one.
To transfer applications (if the card is configured as internal memory):
- Go to Settings → Applications → Application Management.
- Select the app → Warehouse → Change.
- Press. SD-map and confirm the transfer.

Not all applications support the transfer to SD-Map: System utilities (e.g. Settings or Phone) cannot be moved.
5. Resolving errors with SD-map on Redmi 9
If your phone doesn’t see the card or makes errors, use this instruction:

What to do if Redmi 9 doesn’t see it SD-map MIUI?
Optimization of work SD-maps on Redmi 9
To make the memory card work faster and longer:
- 🔹 Do not remove the card while writing files (for example, when shooting a video or copying data.
- 🔹 Clean the cache regularly: go to Settings → Warehouse → Clean up and select Clear the app cache.
- 🔹 Use class cards A2 (For example, SanDisk Ultra A2 Samsung EVO Plus – they are optimized for working with applications.
- 🔹 Don’t fill 100% of the card: leave at least 10% free space for stable work.
To check the read/write speed, use the A1 SD Bench app (available on Google Play). Normal readings for Redmi 9:
- 📊 Reading: ≥ 80 MB/s (for UHS-I map).
- 📊 Recording: ≥ 20 MB/s (for Class 10).

If the write speed is below 10MB/s, the card is likely fake or badly worn, and replace it with a new one from a trusted manufacturer.
7.Safe extraction SD-map
Incorrectly extracting the card can result in data loss or file system damage. SD-map:
- Open the notification panel and find the icon SD-map (if not, go to Settings) → Warehouse).
- Click on Extract or Safe Extract.
- Wait for the notification “It is possible to extract” SD-map».
- Turn off the phone and remove the card.
⚠️ Note: If you retrieve the card without safely turning it off, Redmi 9 may require it to be formatted the next time you connect. MIUI caches data and does not have time to write them to the map during a sharp extraction.
Critical information: Some MIUI 13+ firmwares have a hidden Safe Retrieval feature, in which case you simply turn off your phone before you extract the card, which is guaranteed to prevent data corruption.
